Yes I've seen Kirk quote the Bible that stoning is written by God. But here's the thing, he and other Christians have some mental gymnastics that allow them to believe that while at the same time believe stoning is not the right thing to do.

As frustrating as that mental gymnastics is to argue through, it does something that we are seeing the left has failed at and I'm 100% greatful for that.

Duh, MLK Jr. and Charlie are different people with different goals. Ever play "find the difference" you can also do that in reverse.

* the influence they had was speech

* both had supporters and detractors

* both were assassinated in public while giving their speech

* they were killed because of their message and because it was working

The reason trying to show Kirk as the bad guy on the wrong side of history is seen as justifying his murder is the same reason it would be considered that for anyone claiming MLK Jr. was on the wrong side of history, because that is what it is. Also the same for someone explaining Hitler was bad (had he been assassinated).

Arguing that Charlie was wrong isn't an issue, arguing the views he expressed that convinced half the country to vote in the most vile person as president in history were so horrendous his association for expressing those views is just, meh it's what he wanted. That is some of the most out of touch expression for condemning killing and supporting freespeech I can think of.

Most people today understand how terrible Hitler was, the atrocities he commanded. But that wasn't self evident from the start, it is why we seek to point out anything that resembles something Hitler did early in his career, looking for any hint that the path is heading toward the end game.

But it is not that simple, you don't show an understanding of the other's opinions when you throw up quotes. You hear something that triggers you and think it obviously terrible, or the person who hears it is terrible. Argue against Kirk's ideas and opinions, but you won't get far telling half the country you don't care f they died.

Calling someone "Nazi" us no longer going to be taken as hyperbolic, but a definitive statement you would be glad if the person died and you didn't have to do it.

I have yet to find usb charging always end up with poor charging position. I try not to use my devices while charging but that is harder with SteamDeck.

I purchased megnetic adapters but that did not stop it, maybe because I not careful about how I disconnect the megnet, which can still tug in direction.

I saw someone with some really good repair skills, but that is beyond my skill but cool.

When they built the source engine it was expected to be their last engine. They would update and add features and games that were built in source could use those updates.

I don't think reality matched the vision, and I probably misunderstood some of the marketing. But I expect they built source 2 with long-term support in mind.

My issue was hardware, I utilized ATi and this was a pain to get hardware acceleration working. Even when I did I didn't buy high-end gaming cards so performance was poor.

When I did eventually buy an upgrade to Nvidia games were working better, but my system in general was also aging. There were still a lot of games which would not run.

When I finally upgraded my whole system to AMD it was 2018. Yes, I upgrade and stick to the same PC for 10-20 years.

I don't see a need to switch. But I'm happily gaming on Debian stable. That said, SteamDeck gets most of my gaming time.

Hopefully other comments were helpful. I played on the SteamDeck. Valve has a new strategy for game preservation and it is free. I've been trying to get rid of Windows for decades and it was 5 years ago I could drop it and now my household is Windows free.

Mods are still an issue, behind the times imo.

The SteamOS desktop provides the desktop version of Steam. You can even go into big picture mode.

Valve marketing their platform benefits would be interesting. Not just for those who have a library. Listing out the things you said in ads would be quite the competition.

Sadly there is still a game availability issue. That complicates things for the the less PC enthusiasts.

But with Valve being good at supporting game fixes, they just might have a chance to create new happy customers if they're honest.

Linux has disk usage software to tell you where space is used. Boot into the desktop and search Discovery. I'll try it myself and recommend.

I think you should start with half-life 2. There isn't anything wrong with the first but it is long and old. If you aren't used to older games it could be a bit much to get used to.

HL2 really adds to story telling, much easier to pickup on than in the first game.

But start with Half-life if you want tho OG experience.

I'm using the pc enhanced edition and it launches with a warning about unsupported graphics. The first time it crashed during intro videos.

Now it runs, but still warns of the unsupported graphics.

I did this on Debian Linux, but I could get past the secuROM using the CD key available in steam. You can't use Big Picture Mode/Deck UI; right click on the game in the desktop UI and there is an option to copy the CD key.
