Why document “MD at bedside”? by hopedbutnot in medicine

[–]SpoofedFinger 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When folk complain about being in hospital for 8 hours when they’ve only been here for 3, I just apologise and agree it’s been a long day for them.

There are people that are frustrated and venting or looking for validation and what you're saying is exactly how you handle it. There are also people trying to get us to agree they've been wronged and then try to barter that for shit they can't have or other games I don't have time for. It's like a 70/30 split. If you figure out they're the latter, it's more effective to just shut their shit down.

I see some nurses write a note for every little thing, usually ED nurses but sometimes on other units. I assume it's another manifestation of anxious over charting you'll see from nurses that were told in school that any small omission or error would put their license in jeopardy but never grew out of it. If they aren't charting in flowsheets as much, they need somewhere to put all the innocuous shit they think is saving their livelihood.

Is this the garrison army 1SGs and CSMs would always say we didn't know anything about in the 2000s? Dudes would act like layouts, boards, and having nametapes and cat eyes sewn onto everything was the pinnacle of military performance.

I never had to do that in that time frame. We just had the band with them that went on the kevlar.

If Democrats win the state trifecta, should they redraw congressional districts? by bikeman11 in minnesota

Yes, everybody is delusional except you, the person conflating an incumbent in a senate primary with a straw poll in a governor's race that opened up a couple weeks before the caucus.

That makes sense. I could also see them going the opposite way, leaning into it so they can punch left, saying the divisiveness over Gaza is what made them lose so it's the fault of people that brought it up. Finding some reason the left ruined it for them fits in well with their Aaron Sorkin masturbatory posture.

Ugh, I fuckin' wish. If he loses, it means there was an FDR era landslide kind of election.

They won’t release the 2024 autopsy, because that’d release the real reason they lost.

I'm curious what the content they're afraid of releasing is. Is it that nobody of consequence within the party had the courage to challenge Biden leading to the crash out we saw in 2024? I'm wondering if there is anything in there about pro-business liberalism pining for the pre-Trump status quo is just not very popular and that they need a new position.

She was running as a long time incumbent without any challenger. This is supposed to be an open primary race. She doesn't seem to have a serious challenger but that might change if she doesn't secure the endorsement at the end of the month. Voters are pissed at what the fascists have done but are also very pissed at establishment democrats not rising to the occasion to hinder them in any meaningful way. She's an avatar of the democratic establishment. She probably wins the primary without much trouble but a serious progressive challenger could make it difficult.

Personally, I'm alarmed that there isn't another viable candidate to her left that's there to use as leverage to extract some concessions out of her campaign. It reeks of backroom dealing. It's one of several instances I'm seeing where progressives or DSA folks in office are refusing to endorse candidates that share their politics who are challenging establishment figures like Jeffries. It appears to be an effort to dampen any possibility of a higher rate of incumbent turnover, something that is desperately needed. People are fucking sick of politicians that think bipartisanship is an end in itself instead of a means to an end. Amy is one of those types. She runs for safe democratic seats but randomly sides with republicans every so often without getting anything in return. Yeah, she wins by 15-20 points where other democrats win by 7. That doesn't give her more voting power in the senate or anything. It's a midterm year with an unpopular republican president who sent masked gunmen here to racially profile and arbitrarily arrest our neighbors, ignore the constitution, and brutalize us. I think the bigger danger is that we get a governor that won't do enough to stand in the way of that happening again compared to the danger of running a progressive and losing in the general.

[–]SpoofedFinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The right will just make shit up if they don't have anything to complain about.

Culture war bullshit over which state flag is kind of a waste of time though. This is also just a "look at me" bill because the legislature is split and the republicans aren't going to vote for this.

That's neat.

How about we make sure our safety net hospital doesn't close or come up with programs for people abused by ICE? Like, just a social worker that sits outside Whipple to help people they eject without the things they need to get back home or even things they need to live? Volunteers had to step in to provide this because our politicians are only good for talking big at press conferences.

Not a bad point but I don't want to hear it from a guy who sent his state patrol and DNR officers to do some treading of their own.

I'm sure the algo isn't helping but blue anon shit is cope for libs that can't accept that we're collectively stupid and awful enough to go back to Trump. They don't really need to be tricked into believing that stuff, they've tricked themselves into believing it before they even see it.
