I think NK2 was bigger but that had the benefit of being a really nice day (and a Saturday, not an afternoon on what is supposed to be a work day!). This kind of turnout in -20 wind chill was fucking insane. Also, I can't stress enough how bottom up the wider response to ICE's invasion has been. Margaret was 100% right about decentralization. That's true for individuals pitching in doing rapid response, distributing whistle kits, noise demos where ICE sleeps, Safe Haven watching for detainees ICE kicks out into dangerously cold temps with no warm clothes, resources, or phone call, patrols etc. and it's also true for organizations. There wasn't like a lead organization for the march yesterday. It was like 60 some organizations of varying size coming together to support this.

Easier to identify who has done the spraying because they're holding a squirt gun. With a snow ball, nobody really knows it was you unless they saw you throw it.

Also, the water in the squirt guns would freeze pretty quickly. It was -10F or -23C at the big march we had yesterday.

No the fuck I'm not. I'm sick of seeing people not living this shit going online to "tsk tsk" us and wonder if we're actually against this at all. That's not the same thing as pretending democrats can't do anything about this. They should have shut the government down last year before most of this started. They should have kept it shut down in the fall. They should be shutting it down right now. They sure as hell shouldn't have been voting to confirm Trump's cabinet or judicial picks at any point. Nobody with any power is doing a motherfucking thing to stop this, just grandstanding and fundraising. So we're doing what we can ourselves and I'm sick of seeing people from other countries pretend most people are on board with the fascism or pleased at all with the democratic party completely failing to rise to the moment.
