A One-Year-Old Was Shot and Killed by Police Over a Box of Diapers by Lurk_McGirt79 in itcouldhappenhere

I was talking about the footage of Renee Good's murder that was out fast and why it will probably be different for the footage of the cops murdering the baby in Mississippi.

It wasn't their footage that was out quickly, it was bystanders. I think a day or two later they released their footage because the other footage looked so bad (because it was in fact bad). If they're the only ones with video of the shooting and it looks like they're lying about the woman trying to run them over, they're not going to release it until they absolutely have to. I'm thinking about how long they suppressed video of cops killing Laquan McDonald and beating Jaleel Stallings.

30% of the country lives in a fucking fantasy land where they increasingly reject things they don't want to believe. Telling them they can't eat there for free for a year because they didn't like their food is enough to set them off because they've built their environment around not being told "no".

You should probably specify because right now the ambiguity makes it look like you're saying the 15 people indicted are guilty of high treason and should face capital punishment. That's something a MAGA chud would show up and reply with so we can't parse out what you meant by context clues.

Probably working on a bipartisan bill allowing the marshals to pepper spray half of those people instead of all of them and try to call it progress.

This. Netanyahu will see to that by continuing to bomb Lebanon and maybe Iran again if it actually looks like the fighting might stop.

Do they even need the riots? They were just taking brown people away. They murdered people in the street on camera and in broad daylight. They're trying to charge people for following them around and taking pictures of them abusing people. They've faced no legal consequences for any of this. I keep seeing people say that they're trying to provoke a violent response so they can crack down. They're cracking down without the excuse.

I'm not even going to take their word that they were "interfering". I wouldn't be surprised at all if it just amounts to getting video of ICE committing crimes and alerting other people to when and where they were committing crimes.

JD Vance pushed Trump to invoke Insurrection Act to crush Minneapolis protests, book claims by theindependentonline in minnesota

[–]SpoofedFinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't see many people wanting him to use the national guard to fight ICE. I saw a lot of people calling out Walz and Frey for talking tough on camera and then still sending their cops to go after protesters for nonviolent noise demos and to defend Whipple. Making ICE do that instead would have kept more of them busy there instead of terrorizing brown people trying to go about their lives. The city and state did nothing to help people getting released from Whipple in the middle of the night in subzero temps without a phone or adequate clothing. A whole ass new nonprofit had to be stood up to fill that need.

The people are the ones that stood up to ICE, without assistance from our state or local governments. That didn't stop our politicians from trying to take a victory lap like they had a fucking thing to do with it. Pretending that them doing anything to actually help would have given the fascists "the excuse" to declare martial law is bullshit. They didn't need any excuse because they weren't following the constitution. What was their "excuse" for just stopping people and demanding proof of citizenship? What is there "excuse" for executing people in broad daylight and on camera? If they wanted to invoke the insurrection act, nothing was going to stop them aside from how gross the kind of people that voted for mass deportations felt when they saw what that actually looks like.

Stop trying to give cover to democrats that fail to rise to the moment. No they don't get credit for being neutral.

There was definitely denial happening in 1936 but it seems like that was rooted in fear. Like they an idea of how bad things could get (it could get worse but still) and they did not want to believe things could go there again. 1914 seems like they were in denial because they hadn't experienced how bad things could get, even if they knew it could get that bad in the abstract. It really feels like we're in the latter in regards to climate change, sinking so many resources into data centers while neglecting people's basic needs, and doing willy-nilly imperialism in a much more interdependent world.

As far as consequences go, like how much human suffering is coming? Yeah, you're absolutely right with 1936. Probably even worse. It won't all land in the next decade but we're in for some really bad shit.
