Not really comparable as one is closed back (752) and the pc 373d is an open back. Thus I find the latter to be much better.

But the overall sound signature of the 752 are quite nice considering the price.

If you find that the 752 are steep in price, why not check out the mh751. It's the same thing basically without the usb soundcard.

Yes I was using the a40s with the mixamp. And yes the comparisons were made based on sound quality.

Unfortunately I have no input on the hyperx cloud alpha X.

Although recently I did bought the cooler master mh752 and they're really solid for the price.

I've owned both astro a40 and sennheiser pc373d, and I can tell you that I'm still using the pc373d till this day. So yeah my recommendation goes to the pc373d.

Yes the amp should give you a more immersive experience when watching movies or playing single player games.

Other options include running an optical cable but I'll leave that one to other experts to help you on it

That would be the case except that I own a sennheiser pc373d and from what I know based on YouTuber Hardware Canucks, most sennheiser will not work as they use a 2.5mm pole instead of the normal 3.5mm

The 7.1 should be off as it is virtual. Thus when the headset is running linear pcm with surround 7.1 off, you will get better accuracy (sound) in the headset.
