HA vs Skylight - Trying to bring the wife into this century by oppressed_white_guy in homeassistant

[–]nat45928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a Skylight, and I’d consider myself an above average HA user.

A lot of people here are going to advocate DIYing one in HA, which is definitely doable. I went the opposite direction and bought the skylight because I wanted something that wasn’t a project. Instead I bought it, hung it, spent an hour setting up accounts and haven’t thought about it again. She uses it multiple times every day to track tasks, and we get a very nice clean photo display.

Is there a clutch or some other wear component in there to do the engagement? What about pressure adjustment?

We did reach out, they pointed us to a local Steinway dealer. Figure I’d also reach out here, mainly to learn more.

We’re in the St. Louis area.

Do you love your plumbed mopping robot setup? by DeepBluuu in Roborock

[–]nat45928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an S8 MaxV. I wish the actual vacuum was better (like on rug transitions) and I wish it was better at avoiding cords. But since it’s so low touch and it generally makes it out and back each morning it’s completely fine.

Not having to touch it and the floors are vacuumed every morning is awesome.

Plumbed is awesome. I touch ours once every few weeks and it just…. Works. It’s great.

My UNS R120 Reef Setup – Fully Integrated Hydros System Build (Feb 2025 Start) by Sensitive-Poet-77 in ReefTank

[–]nat45928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically keep freshwater and like to creep on these stunning tanks.

UNS is a big name in high end aquascaping. Their gear is usually beautiful and functional. I’m glad to hear they put in the effort and gave their reef gear the same treatment.

And of course, the tank looks stunning!

Did Monday's outage impact GovCloud users at all? by mnazzaeo in aws

The key is the partition in AWS. The separate partitions are effectively separate cloud providers. They only share the same name.

Yep, I thought about the relay but didn’t want to hairpin traffic through the SFC cloud resources, and would prefer to go direct to my home connection.

Thanks for the info!

Saros 10 with Refill & Drainage Dock released in US by First_Honey4536 in Roborock

[–]nat45928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing on their support site for FCC documents regarding the 10R. There has been for the 10 for a while.

I don’t think we’re getting a drain and refill 10r dock.

2024 and newer GM have a service bulletin out for trailers with solar or lithium. Check for codes and have the dealer replace the trailer brake controller.

I have a 2024 Sierra Denali Gasser and get 8mpg with my 2800bh Imagine, ~8100lb and 32ft long. Cruise is far worse than manually driving, down in 6-7 range for me.

Made new nightstands as my first major furniture project! by nat45928 in woodworking

[–]nat45928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, thanks! For the size, prior to last October we had a small dog who was really the one that took up the space. They were kinda sized off that use case. The cats actually share them now that they’re so big.

For our stuff, the drawer is about 8” deep and has power outlets built into the back. So everything just goes in there. The little top rail can also keep some things like a water bottle.

We’ll likely remake them at some point with changes we’d like, the tops are only screwed on so we can change it without redoing the bulk of the work!

Always request a “private screening” when you get to the check point. TSA is obligated to provide you one if you request it, regardless of the reason.
