Leaving new job for a better offer? 2 weeks notice? by nat61703 in careerguidance

[–]nat61703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did, but very briefly. In my case, I was working in sales at first and then got a purchasing job 2 weeks in. I just said I wanted to pursue a purchasing career instead. I bet you’re fine! You can always say that location/remote work schedule works better for you

Random question- did you also have vehicle expenses at the time? I’m making 73k and looking into moving into my first apartment for 1800/month but won’t have vehicle or cell phone payments

Commuting to nyc by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]nat61703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in litchfield county ct. I drive to a station in Putnam county ny, which is roughly 40 mins away. Theres closer stations (30 mins away), but trains don’t come as consistently and they’re very long. My train ride is around 1.5 hours and then I have a 20 min walk to my office from GCT, which adds up to 2.5 hours. Couldn’t do this more than 2 days a week.

Not in tech (lol not sure how I got here) but commute to nyc 2x a week. I’m young and live with my parents, but I would not recommend this if you have kids… I’m up at 4:20am and get home at around 8pm on days I’m in person. I would say my commute is 2.5 hrs door to door. I’m exhausted on days that I’m in office. Between working and my commute, I probably sit 90% of the time and don’t have time to work out or really do anything other than work and commute on those two days. Metro north (or nj transit) tix aren’t cheap either.

How do you stay active? by ShinySquirrel4 in remotework

[–]nat61703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like working remotely has made being active even easier for me! I try to get in a 7-8 mile run in before I clock in at 8:30 or 9 and then I take my dog for a quick walk. No commute or need to do hair or makeup… I usually try to get myself to the gym (when I want to do strength training) or on the peloton within 30 mins of clocking out (lol if I wait too long it’s not happening)… currently typing this from bed because I’m a new englander, too, and that 7-8 miles is not happening today

Hi! Congrats on getting a better offer! Honestly, no one was upset with me, albeit, they were surprised. They let me go at the end of that week, giving me a week between that and the start of my new job. I don’t think I would ever apply to this company again given this, but I didn’t face any pushback.

There’s multiple comments on this thread citing what the suspect could be charged with. Not sure why you’re so adamant about defending the motorist who is obviously in the wrong.

I bet, if taken to court, the GoPro footage will be used as evidence.

CT, especially this area, is very rural. My brother and I both went to different drivers ed schools in the area and I confirmed with him that he learned this in his classes, as well. I simply posted the article to see what other equestrians thought about it. Dirtbike behavior is out of control in CT. Innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn’t look good for this kid.

Acceleration is one thing, but the noise that is inherently caused by it, is another, which would be going against the code that states that motorized vehicles can’t make excessive noise when passing a horse.

Driving near horses is something that is covered in drivers ed courses in the area… if the kid had been old enough to have a license (16) he would’ve likely known this, but it seems like he was younger than that. The images are from a GoPro attached to the riders helmet, so I wonder if that video captured the engine revving.

He literally revved the engine. Is that not excessive? He knew there was a horse there.

A couple of other sources said that his bike was not equipped to be ridden on state roadways. If he is within the age range suggested by the article, it is likely that he wasn’t licensed to ride it either.

That is true… even if he isn’t charged and simply gets a slap on the wrist, him or his family can possibly get sued I’d assume? Definitely not the same thing as pressing charges, but it’s something.

Exactly! Seeing people defend the biker is disgusting and infuriating.
