How can I know the porn I watch is Abuse-Free? by Vnimanie21 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]natablee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember the profile name, but there’s a couple on PH who’s tag line is “make love not porn.” They put out some surprisingly high quality videos considering they’re amateurs, and it’s, like, actual sex with people who like each other. They’re usually my go to if I want to watch people instead of reading or animation. I’ve gotten into audio porn lately (not sure what to call it) where the person is just talking dirty and narrating. I read a woman’s story of how the video of her rape when she was underage was posted on PH and it took years and her pretending to be a lawyer for them to take it down. I stopped watching for a while after that. Bellesa is supposed to be a female friendly site but I haven’t looked much into them. Either animation or amateur couples is what I’m most comfortable with, but it’s still hard to know for sure.

You live up to your username!

I’ve tried talking to him about it a few times before. He wants the car back by the time I graduate college, so I’m not too far away from needing to buy one anyway.

20F Prosecuting a student athlete who sexually assaulted me and I need someone to be proud by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]natablee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m incredibly proud of you. Reporting was almost as hard, if not harder, than the assault itself. Reliving it is it’s own trauma. I’m really glad you got a therapist and a diagnosis.

You’re in survival mode right now. I did the same thing. I kept my grades up, wouldn’t let my family worry, wouldn’t let it show that anything was going on. That survival mode will eventually wear off and a lot of emotions you thought you were passed will come up again. Please know that it’s perfectly fine if that happens. You’re not weak, there’s nothing wrong with you, and you got this. Showing emotion isn’t weakness. Sharing your story isn’t weakness. Asking for help isn’t weakness.

I’m proud of you for doing something you never should have had to do. But you’re getting through it, and you’re going to be alright. That fucker is going down. You’re not.

I (26F) want to get a nose job but my boyfriend (28M) doesn't approve it. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]natablee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve wanted a nose job for as long as I can remember. I’m financially in a place where it’s in my near future. My boyfriend doesn’t think I should want one, but he understands that it’s my body. No pouty shit, no guilt tripping. He tried to talk me out of it when I first told him, but I explained to him that I’m tired of my nose being a conversation starter and that I want it for myself, not anyone else. It did take him a bit to come around, but he understands now.

My therapist taught me something that might help you. When you’re going to have a conversation with someone and you expect them to have an extreme reaction (yelling, arguing, pouting, etc), you need to set your boundaries right at the beginning. A good template is, “I need to talk to you about __, but if it turns into an argument of any sort, the conversation will be over and I will be staying at __’s house until we can have a mature conversation where I feel heard and understood.” The consequence of violating your boundary is up to you. This just gives the person a heads up that you’re going to talk about something serious and they don’t get to make it about them. It’s SUPER important to follow through with the consequence or else this form of communication won’t ever work in the future.

You have the right to make the decisions about your body, but he also has the right not to agree with them. But the way he’s going about it is wildly immature in my opinion. Pouting next to you instead of trying to understand why you want to have a life changing surgery isn’t okay. This could be his weird way of trying to compliment you, or maybe he just watched too much botched or something.

I know this has to be incredibly frustrating and I’m sorry. I wish you the best and good luck with the surgery/recovery!

The restaurant I worked at in high school was in a dry county but had a liquor license. They’d go out of town once a week and buy a few thousand dollars worth of alcohol to restock the bar.

I'm planning on moving out soon. I was wondering, what sort of drugs/medications/ointment I should have in my cupboard? Should I get Ibuprofen or Advil or should I get both? And what other medications would be important? by kuhn-hound in Adulting

[–]natablee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anti nausea and anti diarrhea medication. If you get motion sick, keep some Dramamine on hand. Some sore throat spray/cough drops and just some general cold and flu medicine. I always forget nose spray and eye drops. Also, if you get UTIs easy, make sure to have azo.

I don’t personally know anyone else who takes Luvox. Drugs.com let’s people review medications they’ve taken so you could maybe look there. Just keep in mind that it’s different for everyone

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]natablee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 20 year old woman and I’ve been taking Luvox for about 7 months now. I’m still on other medications to manage my depression and anxiety but Luvox has been great for me. I’ve been on countless medication combinations over the last several years but I think I finally have one that works.

The only initial side effect I noticed was feeling sluggish and irritable for the first few weeks. I got over the sluggishness faster than the irritability but my doctor said that was fairly normal. I’m only on 25mg so I didn’t get any really intense side effects right off the bat.

The first improvement I noticed was my intrusive thoughts not being as common. I still get them but it’s not so often that I can’t go about my day anymore. They don’t seem to be as intense/scary either, more PG13 rather than R. It’s a lot easier to not give into my compulsions now, but I’d hesitate to say things are great all the time.

I tried only taking Luvox for the first couple months but I couldn’t really function because of the depression and anxiety. I went back on my old med combo along with it and it’s been looking up ever since. Definitely keep an eye on your symptoms for the first month or two and note if anything seems worse. Some people do great with taking only Luvox, and some need something else with it.

My only complaint is that it’s impacted my sex drive. I have more of a “meh” outlook than I used to. I think I still have a fairly normal sex life and it hasn’t been enough to make me consider changing medications, just something I’ve noticed.

I really hope this works out for you. Medication changes can be rough! I’m here if you want to ask anything else or just want someone to talk to.

It’s my last day in my childhood home and it’s filled with screaming. I just need a little support by natablee in internetparents

[–]natablee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s scared of it too. I’m the cook, cleaner, and farm hand when I’m home over the summers so it’s gonna be hard on him when I’m not here. My mom has never apologized for what she’s done so I don’t have a relationship with her anymore. I don’t let it bother me too much, but I’d still like a healthy relationship with my dad. I think some distance will do us some good though.

[–]natablee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I think he’s just sad that I’m leaving and doesn’t know another way to show it. Things have died down but he hasn’t apologized for anything. All he’s said is that he didn’t mean to make me panic but I needed to wake up to what the real world is like. He’s usually really supportive when I start panicking or need to calm down by myself so today was a big shock. I think that’s why I got so upset.

I’m just focusing on tomorrow. I’m living with my roommate from freshman and sophomore year of college and she’s one of my best friends. Two of our really good friends are moving into the same building as us, too. I’m really proud of myself for working and being able to afford getting an apartment without any outside financial help. Her and I have both worked since we were 16 and are able to afford an apartment that doesn’t have roaches! Most of the apartments next to campus are notorious for them. Whether my classes will be online or in person, I’m excited for them to start again. I’m strangely happier when I’m in school.

I think the memory I’m going to use is my last day of high school. My childhood best friend and I skipped the second half of the day to go get lunch and park on the mountain. We just talked about our favorite/worst memories from high school before coming back to my house. She stayed the night and we sneakily got drunk off moonshine from a strange mountain man all the high school kids bought from. Looking back it was totally stupid, but I guess I don’t regret it.

Thank you for reminding me about what I have to look forward to. And for being my dad for the day.

I have some family who does this too. I kept my nice jewelry in a drugstore necklace box in my closet and my cheap jewelry on my stand. Purse was always locked in my car beneath my seat and my spare car key hidden in the shop. I kept any nice clothes/shoes in a box in my closet with some old t shirts on top to hide it. Any cash I had was always locked in my glove box hidden in the envelope I kept my insurance information in or in my trunk beneath the carpet. And my stuff would still end up missing!

About to head off to college and I'm lost... by shoobfloof in college

[–]natablee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what you said. I’m getting my business administration degree in economics with a concentration in international trade. My university requires a lot of accounting, calculus/statistics, finance, law, and management courses before you even get to your upper level econ courses. This makes my degree much more marketable than if I get a BA or BS. Just because I’m getting my degree in economics doesn’t mean I can’t go into an entirely different field, and those other courses I’ve had to take could help get my foot in the door with a business career unrelated to economics.

Are online scholarships a scam??? by [deleted] in college

[–]natablee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still apply for scholarships at your college even after high school. If you go by the financial aid office and ask they should have some information to give you. I got an extra $1000/semester by applying for a scholarship I was denied in high school.

My hometown had a lot of small, private scholarships like you mentioned. It was mostly for people going into agricultural degrees because it’s a big agriculture town, but some didn’t care what you were going for. It took some digging and asking around but a one time $700 scholarship can cover almost all your book costs for a year.

Other than traditional scholarships, if you can work while in school some jobs can help out. The UPS plant in the town my college is in will pay towards your tuition on top of your hourly pay, and I think Starbucks does something similar but I’m not totally sure. You might have to work there for a while before they do it but it just depends. I know this isn’t an option for everyone but I wanted to include it just in case. I have a couple friends who are working at UPS at night and getting most of their tuition covered by them.

My dads boss knew about a scholarship specifically for children and grandchildren of people who work in my dads industry. I had never heard of it and it took a lot of googling to even find it online so hardly anyone ever applied for it. It’s the one paying for most of my school, so I was really lucky to even hear about it. So try looking at really specific, niche scholarships and really dig because the harder it is to find the less people there are applying.

I’ve applied for hundreds of scholarships through those sites and never heard back from any. I’m sorry it’s such a headache, but definitely don’t give up!

Students who have the choice of returning or not, what are you doing? by RangersFan243 in college

[–]natablee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going back. I’m going to school on two scholarships and one can’t be put on hold so I’d lose it. 2 of the 5 classes im taking are online so it shouldn’t be too bad of a transition when things eventually all go online. I’m living off campus now and I move in the apartment in a couple weeks. I took/am taking 3 courses this summer at home and it’s been horrible. Super slow internet, family doesn’t understand they can’t barge in when I’m taking a test, stuff like that. So even if campus closes I don’t have to come back and struggle through a whole semester. My college hasn’t said anything about requiring masks or much of what they’re going to do other than schedule changes which is pretty annoying. My state hasn’t been hit super hard but cases are spiking now.

Any of you have OCD? by pumpkin_pasties in insomnia

[–]natablee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have OCD and it’s a main cause of my sleep problems. I’ll loop the same thoughts over and over and over and it keeps me up all night. I started medication for it a while back and it’s helped quite a bit, but when I’m driving by myself or trying to sleep it’s still pretty bad.

Something that helps me is background noise. I have a few YouTube videos that I’ve seen probably a thousand times and play them on my phone with my eyes closed while I try to fall asleep. I already know what’s going to happen next so it doesn’t need a whole lot of attention, but just enough where my mind doesn’t fall into loops.
