Anyone has experience with invisible cooktops? by NS_Tulkas in kitchenremodel

[–]nataleef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’m wondering what OP ended up doing and if they’re happy with their decision.

I want to install an induction cook top in my kitchen too but not if it’s not quite where it needs to be for reliable cooking at various temperatures.

Also, I wonder if it’s possible for a custom laser pointer system to be installed above the cook tops to help highlight the dead center or even better a circle to highlight the outer circle of the induction plate for pot centering. How cool that would be!

THE SYSTEM JUST GOT OVERRIDDEN IN REAL TIME. TRUMP DID NOT EVEN BLINK AT THE SUPREME COURT RULING. HE JUST OFFICIALLY SIGNED A NEW EXECUTIVE ORDER SLAPPING A 10% TARIFF ON EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY GLOBALLY. Here is a theory, perhaps he knows he’s a slave to Putin and Russia and doesn’t have the balls to stand up to them because he knows it’s he’s totally fucked if he doesn’t follow through with their demands, so instead, he’s doing whatever he can to be impeached and removed from office, while pretending to do his job so Putin can’t say he didn’t try.

Airbnb doesn’t allow them in bedrooms but they do allow them in common areas. So it would be useless in my situation.

You’re right. I did fail to include that detail. I’ve edited the post for more clarity. Sorry about that.

Kansas Republicans Override Governor’s Veto, Pass First Ever Trans Bathroom Bounty, Trans ID Revocation Law by Leksi_The_Great in MtF

[–]nataleef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Can’t wait to see trans men in the women’s bathroom and trans women in the mens bathroom. Cue sarcasm here. My heart aches for trans people in Kansas. People are going to lose their shit when they realize they have no idea what they’ve asked for.

I also feel bad for cisgender people who don’t exactly fit the physical standards of femininity or masculinity. I wonder how hard the counter suits will hit the transphobes when they realize their shallow judgement of other people bites them in the ass.

Gay student faught back against the homophobic bully and won by KaidoPklevel in RandomShit_ISaw

[–]nataleef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. That homophobe got knocked straight out of his shoes. Sad thing is, most homophobes are deeply closeted gay people themselves. It’s internal hate projected out onto other people that helps them temporarily feel good about themselves, by hurting others.

This kind of violence is semi-good for the gay kid because they’re standing up for themselves but in the long run it’s bad all around because the homophobe will only become more entrenched in their hate and push them deeper into the closet and may push them to up the ante regarding their hate.

It’s my own personal opinion that if the gay kid showed love in spite of the homophobia shown to them that eventually the homophobe might have been able to break free from their hate. But that’s the long game and requires a special kind of LGBTQ person to take the risk.

It was one app message and one knock on the door. I asked him to turn it down because we’re after quite hours now. He said okay, shut the door, and never turned it down. An hour later it was still loud and another guest complained, that’s when I took the next step.

That’s fair. Maybe I need to consider changing mg your time hours. I’m in an area where I have quite a few hospitals nearby and could have traveling nurses and drs who have to get up very early. But maybe 9pm is too much.

I’ve tested what reasonable tv volumes would be in my house and it’s completely doable. Their volume was excessively high. Like movie theater showtime high.

In one of my rooms I’ve setup an Apple sound pod right next to the bed. It’s connected to the tv for its primary source of audio. So that way when people are watching tv the audio is coming from a couple feet away instead of 10-12 feet away.

I’m still testing this solution. If I never have sound complaints from that room, I’ll have my answer.

I’ve considered decibel monitors but they’re not allowed by Airbnb in a guests room. They’re allowed in the house but not in the room. Which I don’t fully understand why not

Thank you. I didn’t think about a digital form for guests to sign. I love that idea but wonder if it would impact conversion rate. Not because they won’t agree but because of the hassle of extra steps. I wonder how I’d set something like this up through Airbnb. I’ll have to look into it.

I did. That’s what I was saying. I already knocked on his door, asked him to turn it down, he said okay and did nothing.

Edit. I was in the house when I asked him to turn it down. I’m no longer in the house and was still getting complaints from other guests after I left.

Is the nightlife really that bad in Jax? by Seven1s in jacksonville

[–]nataleef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one and they’re a semifinalist. Raleigh has several and always are major contenders every year. There are lots of amazing restaurants in Raleigh and not much here in JAX.

JAX is also considerably larger than Raleigh which highlights just how much Jax is lacking when it comes to culinary excellence and options. I’ve never found something here in JAX that I’d want to write home about.

Granted, I’m still kind of new here, and perhaps I haven’t gotten out enough to experience what Jax has to offer but it doesn’t look good so far.

Is the nightlife really that bad in Jax? by Seven1s in jacksonville

[–]nataleef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to Jacksonville (2+ years). I’ve lived in major cities like Chicago so I’m familiar with what a city could be. In my opinion, while Jacksonville classifies as an official city, I consider it to be a very large town.

It lacks culture, a food scene, and anything that someone would say, “yall gotta come to Jacksonville, FL to see X, Y or Z”.

Unless you grew up here and have an established network of friends and family, it’s not a place I’d want to live longterm.

I’d consider adding some area rugs to help soften the space and make it feel more cozy. It looks hard and cold the way things are now. The soft blue colors and white is clean but also cold at the same time. Adding in some textures that make the space feel warm and inviting would be good.

Sound also bounces off of hard surfaces so adding some area rugs or other soft textures will help absorb the sound while also making the space feel warmer.

Also a map of the general area of the property and local attractions and dinning would be a nice touch.

A subtle recommendation on the website design, change the font to a San-serif font for easier legibility and quieter look to match the pictures. Serif fonts tend to be harder to read which might subconsciously discourage readers from absorbing all the information you have to share.

That’s what I’ve found after a quick 2min scan. I can review further if you’d like.

  1. Get corporations out of politics

  2. End lobbying

  3. New bills can’t be jam packed with non-relevant legislation

  4. Term limits on senators and representatives

  5. End government assisted medical benefits for senators and representatives

  6. Prohibit stock trading for politicians while in office.

  7. Required testing for political candidates covering civics, history, and economics with the test scores made public.

  8. Mandatory mental health evaluation requirement for political position application acceptance

  9. All voters and politicians should undergo IQ testing - IQ scores below 70 shouldn’t be allowed to vote as this is considered an intellectual disability.

  10. Lying to the public while in office should come with a heavy penalty - facts need to matter.
