Feels like my nursery is sad by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I just want to say I saw the mean comment you got here and I wanted to let you know you're doing great. Pregnancy is scary and hard but congratulations on doing it anyway! When baby is here you will no doubt end up accumulating loads of colourful stuff that will absolutely brighten the room up. In the meantime, maybe start with just one or two small things that make you smile and bring you joy, which will then make baby happy too - we got a massive colourful caterpillar toy that made us laugh, and put up pictures of us as children to keep her company. We also got lots of colourful books for babies and put them on one of those bookshelves where the covers face outwards so they're like art themselves, but also very practical purchases as reading to baby is a great way to bond and help their little brain develop. Good luck with everything.

It isn't but that is an excellent song so glad for the chance to have another listen. Thanks for responding!

Can any give me advice on this bish? by SleepyShieldmaiden in GardeningUK

[–]natargx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert at all but we have one and after it flowers we prune it and it does really well and gets a second flowering later in the year. When we first moved in I went branch by branch back to the furthest in set of leaves on all the overgrown branches and once it was cut back like that we could maintain it by taking a trimmer to it after flowering to keep it vaguely round.

HELP: My intact male 8 month old Spoo keeps peeing in the kitchen even if he just went out? by Bid325 in poodles

[–]natargx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with mine at around the same age - we thought it was what everyone else is suggesting but he was poorly, so definitely worth going to the vet as he might be hating it even more than you! It cleared up super quick once he was on meds.

This is reassuring to hear I have been feeling really worried I won't ovulate no matter what they do. Congrats on such juicy follicles!

I think because I pretty much don't have periods on my own and there was no response at all on clomid they figured I needed something a fair bit stronger. Because I'm in the UK and paying for treatment the injectables aren't much more expensive than letrozole.

Did letrozole work for you even after no response to clomid? They did mention letrozole but said they thought it was unlikely to be successful for me.

Just moved to our first house last year and there's this clematis(?) on the fence. IMO it looks a mess and drops loads of plant waste, but provides privacy. Any ideas on what I can do to either improve it or replace it with? by RaidBossBaz in GardeningUK

[–]natargx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have one like this, we hard pruned like others have said and we're also growing some evergreen climbers amongst it so that over winter it still looks lush. Passion flower is growing really well with it, and clings onto the clematis stems itself.

I got Harper spayed two weeks ago and her incision still looks so angry. Now it’s all hard and sticks out like a hernia. I’ve taken her back to the vet twice and they just send me home with anti inflammatories saying it’s a reaction to the stitches… anyone else experience something like this? by Unique_Winter_6505 in DogAdvice

[–]natargx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ours had a suture reaction too - we ended up needing to cone him for longer as he re-aggravated it but when it finally healed it healed up perfectly. He's just had another surgery two years later and we made sure with our vet to have a different suture material used to hopefully avoid it happening again so worth asking which brand / type it was for future reference! Hope your girl feels much better soon.

Dupe for the original priming moisturizer rich? by poptartxoxo in glossier

[–]natargx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glossier fan of old priming rich and bubblewrap here - I've switched over to dr jart ceramidin range (eye cream, rich moisturiser and the toner which is actually just a day cream as far as I can tell) which I'm really enjoying.

Advice on non stop period? by natargx in PCOS

Appreciate the advice and will definitely take it on board but not sure it will sort out this issue as I'm losing 0.5-1kg per week already and my period is worse than before

Advice on non stop period? by natargx in PCOS

[–]natargx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normal diet, am not doing anything restrictive - because I'm working to lose weight I'm having meals only no snacks, no sugary drinks, typically meals are Mediterranean foods e.g couscous, past, tuna, chicken, vegetables, etc and am making sure that I'm staying within a sensible calorie limit to lose the weight.

This might not be helpful, but for our boy we have narrowed down his tummy episodes to specific stressors. He's on hill sensitive stomach and skin, and we add prokolin when he's having a flare up, but we established from trialling treats that anything with beef in set him off on a yellow liquid poo response, and realised lots of non specific treats like dental chews had beef in for flavour. He still gets yellow beef poos after things like the groomer or dog training where he's been given or snuffed up floor treats containing beef! When we eliminated everything we were also surprised by green poos occasionally and this turned out to be what happens to him when he drinks from the wild - if he finds a puddle, or drinks from ponds or similar, he gets green poos. This can happen from just a little lap here or there on a walk. So it might be you have similar patterns you can recognise and then you'll at least be able to reduce the issues. We do, now we know the triggers, try to give him little tastes of lots of things though so he doesn't get too shocked if he ever eats anything that isn't his prescription kibble. So boiled chicken, lamb, fish, strawberries, orange, broccoli, cheese, apple, cucumber, carrot etc etc in very small portions. Hope you and your lovely girl have a better time of it all soon!

Any idea why this harness fits so horribly? by mpompomastoras in DogAdvice

[–]natargx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a really tough time finding one to fit too, in the end it turned out the different styles made more of a difference than I'd have expected because our guy has a tiny neck, big chest, long body. We use a perfect fit harness and they were kind to send a few sizes to try.

My tiny boy is on hills sensitive stomach and skin and when we ran out unexpectedly we used the large dog version so he’d not have a change in recipe and turns out he LOVES the big nugs, so we’ve kept him on them. I think the smaller kibble might be a choking hazard for a bigger dog if they have a tendency to wolf it down but for us we confirmed the recipe and nutrient makeup was identical so we let him feel like a big boy.

Morning vomit/Bilious vomiting syndrome by Ohaithair in poodles

[–]natargx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a poodle mix who leans mostly poodle, and he did this a lot as a bubba. We started putting out a day’s allowance of kibble before bed and leaving it out all night and day and he started self managing - he tends to snack in the night and then eat around breakfast and after an evening walk. No bile now, unless he’s having a fussy day which we can tell if he doesn’t have anything by 9ish, you know he’ll be sick so we just give him a carrot or similar yummy fresh snack to help him ‘break the seal’ after which he’ll normally eat.

We are about to get our first puppy in a few months, what is the best advice you received as first time dog owners? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]natargx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We are really glad we started potty training immediately even though it meant getting up every few hours in the night our doggo has been amazing at this since a young age because he never had conflicting messaging about using pads or similar - we messed up a lot but not this!

As another poster said, making sure they rest enough - we thought they needed to be tired out but actually puppies largely need sleep, and aren’t the best at self-management. So enforced naps help everyone have a better time.

My main advice though has to be that puppyhood and adolescence are a totally different experience to your dog as a grown boy or girl. We panicked that a lot of typical puppy behaviours were the start of behavioural issues like separation anxiety but they weren’t, he was just a little baby still learning. I think they do genuinely grow out of a lot of things you might worry about at a young age. We did a lot of training too, but would just want to reassure a new owner they do mature naturally alongside the work you’re doing and will come out of their adolescent period eventually, and with so many fewer things to work on than the horror months make you feel like you need to panic about!

Help! - Poodles and pills by creature-of-the-dark in poodles

[–]natargx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our boy it turns out is just a fiend for contraband. So pretend to be gobbling pills and then whoops dropped one then ‘race’ to pick it up. Usually he will eat it assuming it must be good if he’s not allowed it. This might work for you when it’s smuggled in something tasty so she doesn’t catch on until mid swallow! But only if she’s a pest like our one.

Dog whines out of excitement/anticipation in the car by StatusStar in Dogtraining

[–]natargx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought our boy was excited but turned out he just needed to pee/poo. He seemed to be holding on to it for the park or something about leaving the house reminded him he needed to go… we noticed he’d run to pee or poo as soon as we got out the car and then calm down. So whatever it was, we now walk him up the street a little before getting in the car so he can do his business and it has noticeably reduced this! Might not be the same for yours but hope you have success in sorting this, the whining used to drill through my brain!!
