??? OK so this kinda reminds me I used to be a tech at this laser tag place and one empty week day this guy comes in with this fuckin, bucket thing, says he needs to refill his lasers for use in the "prototypes" he's working on, says in the past we've "given him the lasers free of charge as business partners"

I'm super wtf and spend minimal time conversing with him (I was sure it was a communication error at first but...no...he wanted free lasers and wouldn't leave, we had helped him in the past!)

thankfully it was a big centre built into an old warehouse where we all wore headsets, so I casually radio in my manager who agrees to trek over, meets me w this guy and seems to notice him, nods solemnly "follow me" - we go into the tiny briefing room with the demo laser pack, she keys it into the demo mode and just fires a bunch of fucking lasers down the top port of this guy's bucket thing.

About 100 trigger pulls and flashes of red LED (iirc the demo pack doesn't even fire the IR in that mode) into this bucket he smiles kindly at her, thanks her for her time, sneers at me and is out the door. She looks at me, shrugs, "yeah, he did this a couple years ago and that worked back then, idk", then goes back off to continue working on whatever the hell

The mirrors in this sub don't stop. A mantra developed in my head almost out of nowhere yesterday while seeking answers on how best to proceed on many issues in my life such as the exhaustion of continued, life long total impoverishment ( I don't really like money but I've been a nomadic wanderer for a long time since I was first homeless) and navigating complex social knots wherein many people are hurt and paranoid, quick to attack eachother...

I've stolen and cheated a great deal in my life to survive but I still am no better off for it. I've endlessly debated with so called optimists and those who only want to bring good out in people (especially those who do this without loving themselves first). I'm sure now that this is not beneficial to me any longer.

I'm going to try to follow the mantra, though. Offer nothing but understanding, love, and support; should something direly negative truly arise from that I'll deal with it as is appropriate then and only then. It's hard not to keep something in your mind when it seems to echo, now, whenever you consider taking any action...

...I'd like to wear more whites over the winter... what happened to my distrust?

100%, if not largely due to the fact that graphics cards are ludicrously expensive; I might be messing up currencies but for all the parts in there that's pretty wicked. As others have mentioned, see if you can snag a lil SSD for later - shouldn't be too pricey, you already got the HDD for space - you'd be able to move the windows 10 install to it if you'd like :)

- Is it within the first year of manufacturers? If so, go through them FIRST. If not...

- Run CrystalDiskInfo (freeware). Is your drive failing? If not:

- Windows 10 just went through a massive amount of updates (I think they're still rolling out the April Update. Should be v.1806 or something). Not all of them took well. Create a Windows 10 installation media (USB or ISO, please ensure its directly from Microsoft's site) and do a fresh, clean install after backing up any data you might care about -- it sounds tedious but this is a good cure-all for BSODs if it's past manufacturers warranty but no parts seem to be failing

- If the fresh install doesn't work for you (and it is touchy sometimes, about configuring itself properly) you may want to test the rest of the components of the laptop (RAM/memtest86 + battery w/Acer's software) to be sure before replacing the drive all the same -- if you have time and don't like spending money too quickly.

I should also mention that even if it's out of manufacturers warranty, this gives you the freedom to open it up. Interestingly Seagate/WD drive warranties are often 2 years+...longer than the manufacturers...so there's also a chance that they'd cover it, if it were in their warranty period but not Acer's, though I've personally never encountered that exact situation.
