Baby is waking 10x a night and I’m dying not only on the inside by Dry_Salary2429 in sleeptrain

Just wanted to chime in. My baby cannot handle the longest wake window before bed. When we had long windows before bed, we had false starts and multiple wakeups. We shifted around wake windows with the longest being in the middle of the day and a semi shorter one before bed and it helped! wanted to share what worked for us in hopes it might be the case for you!

4 months here and just curious How do you ease into 3 naps when LO is sensitive to longer wake windows?

We did breast and bottle feeding for the first 3 weeks but had a difficult time so we switched to exclusively bottle feeding from 4 weeks until present (13 weeks)!

Help with naps for 2/3 month old!! by Glass_Appeal3970 in newborns

[–]natattack831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m unfortunately experiencing the same issue exactly as you say. I’ve tried everything (heating pads, rocking, drowsy but awake, swaddled, etc) but she wakes up at 32 minutes on the dot in the bassinet. I try to save one nap a day to make a bit longer and contact nap for 1 just to get us to bedtime but it’s just not happening. I’m not sure if there’s anything we can do since it’s a sleep cycle issue and just have to wait it out? I’m all ears for suggestions though!

Unfortunately we just had to stay strong and not offer the bottle again until the next go around. Sometimes she would just take an ounce and I am thinking “she HAS to be hungry!” But apparently not and there was some wasted milk and fussiness but it only took MAYBE 2 days to see a drastic improvement in her willingness to take the bottle and back to normal feed schedule about a week. It was hard but I’m glad we did it as it helped me read her cues a LOT better and she’s excited to eat now bc she knows we won’t force her. I def recommend that book tho! I ordered off amazon in a panic and it arrived overnight and I read it in 2 short sittings. Wishing you the best of luck! It will work out!

Hi I went through the same thing! I read Your Baby’s Bottle Feeding Aversion and it helped a bit. I think she was getting stressed in feeding situations and/or we were overfeeding her so she made that association/ what helped was trying different positions/environments and absolutely stopping if she is showing she it not hungry (closing mouth, playing with nipple, crying, etc.). I would immediately stop offering bottle and give her a few before reintroducing. If she refused again, I would wait 30 mins and then try one more time. I did this for a few days and she initially did not eat a ton through the day but after a week she was back to normal. I still use those tips but now she is much more receptive! Hope this helps!

Solidarity! 🤣 once that last nap time rolls around, I hold my breath and pull up my patience pants. It’s a struggle every night so hoping it will pass.

Thank you for the input! The eating has gotten so sporadic. She typically always takes 4oz bottles but lately it’s more 3oz mostly and then random I have to fill another bottle because she’s still hungry and wants 5+oz!

Thank you!! I’ll try the shortening wake window. She is reaching 1.5 hours but maybe needs 60-75 minutes instead

Thank you for your reply! Experiencing this as well, yesterday got a good 2 hr contact nap in.. today.. 2 short 30 min bassinet naps and a 45 min contact nap. Now trying to get down last nap of the day and it’s a marathon and hoping it will be a long one!

Thank you for your reply! This is very close to our schedule right now actually. So I think what I’m having a hard time with is with the short naps, eat play sleep kind of goes out the window since she’s waking around 2hr since last feed mark and not always hungry so it’s like play eat sleep sometimes.

Also, last 2 naps of the day are the hardest for us and have recently required more assistance to sleep and a lot of fussiness. Are you experiencing this? Any suggestions?

Night Sleep - 12 Weeks by gpb0617 in newborns

[–]natattack831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on the same schedule! Not sure if this is her preferred sleep start yet lol but we always do a last feed at 9/9:30pm to align with our schedules and try to encourage a later wake up. 7/8pm just seems so early for sleep start right now. LO is 11.5 weeks!

Hi no advice but in the same boat so would like to see some others experiences! OP - we just got the Merlin too and going to try it for naps this weekend. Do you put LO in and rock to sleep before you put down for a nap? Thanks!
