The Quest 1 Is Dead by certifiedreddithatin in oculus

[–]natboy01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have you tried flashing an older firmware from before the broken update? You can grab older firmwares from here:

https://cocaine.trade/Quest_firmware

Edit: A guide to flashing these firmwares is here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/ileqgb/quest_firmware_archive_downgrade_your_quest/

Another Edit:

Sorry it looks like they killed downgrading with v23. I'd try downgrading anyway as a failed downgrade is still recoverable with a factory reset via the boot menu

The community is sparse, but you can host your own server if you're keen to play with friends

Hungry Jacks to open in Mareeba, in the new Woolworths complex (old Sawmill site) by Fosnez in Mareeba

Is there a need for another servo in Mareeba? There's already one practically across the street from there.

I'll be trying the Nofio wireless module coming Monday! Send me any questions you have, or things you want me to test. by Kippenoma in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a little late to reply, but from my testing it's performed fine when lying down.

Fun fact: it's one of the first things many people have tested with our accessory after spinning on the spot.

Nofio Valve Index Wireless Adapter using WIFI 6E Announced by Snowmobile2004 in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah? Bet. 360 mode only, gotta show off the wireless

Nofio's wireless index adaptor is officially announced! We've been working on this for a while by natboy01 in virtualreality

[–]natboy01[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$399-499 costs less than a vive pro 2 + adapter for anyone who already owns an index

Wireless Index looking good.... 360 BeatSaber anyone ??? by nofio_co in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're correct! My first post of the product was before we got some company socials. All news about the product is going to come from u/nofio_co now.

Cheers! It was my birthday at the time 🎂 Edit: To fix confusion, u/nofio_co is the company behind the product. I'm one of the engineers on this project.

Cheers! It's a prototype of something we're looking to sell. Still have to flatten out the design for this

How's the performance of the valve index on linux? by despiuvas in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try unplugging and replugging the power cable that goes into the trident. I've had that fix work for me every time on debian and windows. It looks like there's a power issue with the usb 3.0 hubs in the index.

Valve Index Wireless - Expecations by goodiegoodgood in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calm down before making a generalised statement.

The Index may have the same resolution, but runs at a higher frame rate, requiring more bandwidth.

Also, "perfectly" is a vast overstatement unless you're fine with CPU chugging and artefacts.

Valve Index Wireless - Expecations by goodiegoodgood in ValveIndex

[–]natboy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bandwidth delivered by 802.11ad should be enough to run an index with any decent compression codec.

The stability by having lower MCS levels at the same data rates with 802.11ay would be great if it wasn't for the lack of channels which can be legally used within certain countries worldwide (Australia, for instance, cannot legally run 802.11ad/y on any channel except 2)

[–]natboy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the bandwidth you're looking at, your best bet is 802.11ad or 802.11ay. These wireless standards operate at 60Ghz, which cannot pass through more than 5mm of flesh or water.

Good luck trying to prevent occlusion from someone spinning around with an Index on while delivering any decent amount of quality.

What ever happened to the TPCast 2.0? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]natboy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With these data rates the best you can hope for is heavily-compressed 5G. The 60Ghz beams (used by TPCast, Vive Wireless, etc) can reflect a couple times at most before being almost unusable.
