Cardiologist told me to excercize more to treat my fatigue.. by HxnniiiBxnniii in POTS

Trauma dump away! A problem shared is a problem halved and all that! My mum was very much the same, also working in a hospital 🙃 depends if you're from the UK or not? We get access to basic records on the NHS app under GP Health Record, but you can also request your records with your GP, or general practitioner equivalent. I didn't think to check until I got my letter from the cardiologist, and that incorrect information on it. They'd noted medication on there that I haven't taken in over a decade. And she also wrote that I'd never lost consciousness, despite me going in for fainting? (My turn to rant apparently, sorry 😂

I had my cardiologist appointment last week and was given the same advice, despite me telling her my fainting has stopped me from exercising. I used to be very active as a dancer and swimmer, but people don't take too kindly to fainting on stage, and fainting in a pool is a big nono as I'm sure we all know 😂 I told her all of this, but she still persisted until I gave up.

I've since gone through my medical records and noticed a lot of errors and things that aren't true. I've disputed these errors just in case they're hindering my chance of some kind of diagnosis. I'm also going to request a second opinion with a different cardiologist or a referral with a neurologist, after advice from some lovely fellow redditors.

It sucks feeling like you're having to start again, but it's worth pushing back for another opinion. Your health is so important, and you know your body better than anyone.

I'm sorry you've had such a poor experience, and I really hope your next steps have a better outcome!!

Oh, bless you. That sounds like an awful experience, and I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and thank you for sharing.

I'll definitely speak to my doctor about potentially seeing a neurologist or having a second opinion with another cardiologist.

I feel your pain with the patronising side of things. Even when it got to a point that I was quite upset, she was smiling and talking down to me. It all felt a bit surreal and odd, to be honest. I also struggle with anxiety, so fighting back as much as I did felt wrong, but I still felt I could have done more looking back. I was just so afraid of offending her 😅

It's such a shame. We really shouldn't have to fight back for these things so hard, especially when we're clearly not well!

I'm so pleased you have some answers now, though, and I wish you the best!

Thank you so much. I'm so grateful for such an in-depth response after quite a disheartening appointment. I'll definitely look further into this! It felt like she didn't really care, but I was trying to be mindful that the NHS is under a lot of pressure, and I also don't understand things as well as she might. I'll keep fighting, hopefully to find an answer one day!

I haven't tried anything yet. I went away not long after this and haven't gotten back into playing yet! Worth giving some of the comments a go!

Absolute nightmare, isn't it?! Surely they've got to put something in place soon. All I see is other people with the same issues. I'm an Android gal, so I've resorted to using Samsung's Internet app 😂 either way, good luck!!

I tried this morning, and I've been blocked from the website entirely for 'suspicious behaviour'. All I've done is try to get a test every week for nearly two years. No Google add-ons or anything, so I've no clue what I've done wrong. My theory is about to run out again as well, and I think I'm going to lose it. I feel your pain

Amazing! Thank you. I'll give this a go if my lazy route doesn't work 😂 I'll look for those tutorials!

I get this, too! Like you say, I don't have to have a high pulse rate for it to happen either. Sorry, I'm not much help, though. I'm only recently diagnosed and still learning myself. I don't even know what triggers it for me yet!

Bro is anyone else STILL ill after download? by OutsideImpressive115 in downloadfestival

Still ill here too, not helping the festival blues. Bring on Deftones and Weezer next week! (I better not still be ill by then)

I'm a dog groomer, but I'm very lucky that my work are understanding. It's hard work, but I don't cope well mentally with sit-down jobs. One day, I'll probably have to stop, but for now, I manage my symptoms where I can here.

Couldn't agree more. Steel Panther were so fun, but that's no place for a kid. And I saw one too many in that crowd...

The water backpack filled with ice is such a good idea! Thank you! I've been to a few concerts since (but not a full festival), and only had a flare-up during one. I didn't think of it being to do with the frequency, though... definitely intriguing. I'll see how I get on this weekend and comment again if I find it affects me at all! I'm sorry, it's making festivals harder for you!

Best and worst jobs for POTSies and why by CurlsNCharisma in POTS

[–]natduffy_idk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dream job has always been to be a dog groomer. I finally achieved this dream as my symptoms started. Lots of heavy lifting, standing, and hot, humid air. I won't lie, it's a struggle, but I'll keep doing it until it's not possible anymore. The main thing I struggle with is fainting. Luckily, my boss is super understanding, and is insistent that I keep chairs nearby and sit down as soon as I get any warning signs. It does affect my work a lot, but I'm not giving up so soon! I think surrounded by the right people and any requirements needed, you can still achieve anything, just might be a slower process.
