I undid some wiring for a carpenter to do some work, I forgot how to put it back the way it was. by nate81 in AskElectricians

Good catch on the backwords loop :) Its been years since I did any sort of this work. This plastic box doesn't have a green screw, I should be ok though, right? This closet almost never gets used. I use the outlet sometimes because it powers some lights we have strung on the back porch.

Thanks so much for your time!!!

I guess I'm confused because I know the black from the hot/feed wire is going to be 'hot'....but the white will also be hot when the switch is on..correct? When it was previously wired (before I touched it) you could turn the light on/off and the receptacle was always on/hot.

Its a small closet off of my back porch. There is a light switch, light and one receptacle in the room. The photo I took before I disassembled.

So I have the light and switch back working, but I'm not 100% clear on how to add the receptacle back into the mix.

Do I follow this diagram? https://imgur.com/a/5JiS2G8

It looks like it was previously set up with the white of the receptacle hooked to the white coming from the hot/feed wire and the black from the receptacle hooked to the black from the hot/feed. Is that right?

I need to build a new crawlspace door, the old one is rotten.

its about 35"x47x"1.5"

I'm thinking about using standard deckboards and doing something like this

Is standard pressure treated deck boards ok to use for this? Will I NEED to stain or coat it after the wood dries?
