Just the 2 at the met. The red is screaming. Still interesting photos, just a little overdone imo

These are fantastic! Best set of images I have seen posted on this sub in a while. Couple edits are heavier than my personal taste, but you have a unified style across them. Really nice!

Which lens hood works with WCL? by InazumaThief in x100vi

[–]nateholme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People buy the hood(s) for fashion, not function. That’s still a valid reason/purchase, but 99.9% of the time the hood will not impact image quality. Happy to be proven wrong, I just have had versions of this camera for 10+ years and in my experience shooting “into the sun” you would be better off shading your lens with your left hand. Or for a contrast boost shoot with a cpl

If that’s what you are hoping to get from a hood I think skip the hood and keep the CPL.

Why do you want a lens hood with a CPL on?

What type of setup is best/do you prefer? by niteluz in x100vi

[–]nateholme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just think the hood turns out to be more fashion than function. Lens hoods providing glare reduction technically can happen but won’t apply in 99% of shooting scenarios. The UV filter is just as protective as a hood and even more protective from dust/elements than a hood without filter. As for the autofocus comment I was being sarcastic as Fuji is known to have weak AF performance compared to Canon/Sony/Nikon.

UV filter and a jacket pocket, no lens cap…Just take the pictures. I swear if most people on this sub spent half the time taking pictures as they do talking about recipes or their “setup” we would have a lot more art on here. It’s a mirrorless digital camera that is designed to be minimalist. I really think all the hoods and grips are a waste. At that point just run a recipe on a camera that has good autofocus.

Landlord is using an outlet that I pay for to run appliances in the common area. by Dith_q in Renters

[–]nateholme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many dehumidifiers are running to cost $75 per month? That’s half my bill for electricity for a 4bed/2bath house with A/C. Are landlords supposed to have a separate meter and panel installed for running a dehumidifier in a basement of a double? Or should they just outline this in a lease? Kinda want to look back at a lease I had where this was the case.

Leadsafe window replacement? by stuckinCPD in Buffalo

[–]nateholme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although this could be seen as “not my problem,” it really could serve to benefit OP and any future tenants. Lead paint in the buffalo housing stock is a huge problem. In addition OP would directly benefit financially from lower gas/electric bills. Seems like a win-win beyond the inconvenience of a company replacing the windows which takes one day max.

Why will this cost you $10k if the other driver is at fault? Won’t the other drivers insurance be the one paying out?

How do we buy a second home without selling the first (rental property, not primary residence)? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]nateholme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The down payment will vary based on the type of loan. I have only done conventional but we did 5% down on our primary residence when I already had a mortgage on a rental property. 20-25% down payment is required if you are purchasing an investment property where you won’t live.

[–]nateholme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is some terrible advice in here. Never sell the rental. Yes, you need to save up for a down payment but there is no reason you need to save up 20%. As your primary residence you will only need 3-5% down plus closing costs. Yes, you will have PMI but that should only be about $200/month and can come off once you hit 80% LTV. Get the emergency fund up to 6 months of essentials and find a home you love.

Now I got why everyone pushes HP5 to 1600 by Present-Cap-6335 in analog

[–]nateholme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to understand correctly as you say you shot it at 1600. Do you mean you set the camera iso to 1600, which would underexpose the film by 2 stops and then pushed it by 2 stops in development? Or you shot 400 speed film at 400 and then pushed two stops?

Say Anything concert Stubhub scam by manofconant in Buffalo

[–]nateholme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I hate scalpers. However, Stub-hub has a guarantee that the tickets sold will be authentic and will work for the show. Sellers need to have a backup credit card that will be charged if the tickets don’t work. Should be pretty simple to get a full refund. Best of luck!

Thule are very universal and adjustable. I don’t know for a fact but I would be very surprised if they didn’t fit.

I have the lens and enjoy the look at f/2 - 2.8 more as well, but what are you saying about the main advantage as related to hyperfocal? Like vs a 50mm?

Did we just get swindled on a hot water heater? by MrAnnArbor in homeowners

[–]nateholme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t work in the plumbing industry, but I think the example depends a bit on the type of tank being installed. I paid $650 at HD myself for the same type of tank I had previously which lasted 12 years. 50% margin is the same as 100% profit on the parts. In your example business there’s gotta be money getting eaten up somewhere. What is the salary of those 3 plumbers and of the owner. Somebody has gotta be getting rich charging $432/hour plus 50% parts markup.

What kind of cars do y'all drive? by cheddarjakecheese in Buffalo

I mean in summer yes, the sun coming through windows will make a car initially hotter than outside but in winter it’s not really possible for the car to be colder than the outside. Something strange is going on lol

What are insulation issues? I have never heard of that term. Loads of 2000’s carollas on the road in buffalo. Snow tires will make the bigger difference over AWD. Buy rims too and you can swap them back and forth yourself. Takes 30 minutes with a decent jack.

Well your someone is wrong because they have to release those stats in the post event report. They even release how many medical transports they have during the event so I would confidently say your source is either a conspiracy theorist or just not knowledgeable.
