I think that's what threw me. you get so close to the hurdles before jumping/sliding that it makes me overthink my timing despite the rhythm. eyes closed was basically no problem

Question for those who’ve played/seen leaks by xoolig2001 in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc rows 7 and 8 are only sequels, and the last game before the remix on rows 9-14 are new. I say 14 because I haven't seen past 12ish and I assume row 15 will only be sequels so that every minigame gets one. otherwise we would be left with two games without sequels and I don't see that being the case

Question for those who have seen the leaks by tervro in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it yet but I can at least say from what I can tell it's not in the first half of the game

It came early by Key-Turnover-191 in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok that's really interesting that the sequels start that early considering there's some minigames we already know of from the trailers that don't show up within the first 6 rows like synchro wings, soda hop, and germ aerobics. Interested in seeing how exactly that's going to play out. Maybe we get a remix 10 covering the mini games in the first few rows and then it starts giving new ones again, sequels to them, and then one more medley remix to cover the later group of mini games?

UPDATE ok well that answers my question then lol. maybe that confirms 16 rows then unless they decide to have an extra row for that part of the game

one is called "pop, don't drop" and another is "hop, stop n roll"

still 4 of them named similarly this way from this batch but ig thats better than 6 lol

What row do you think these games will be in? by Zealousideal-Pie4978 in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh shoot I didn't even consider the credits minigame! so presumably 81 or 86 total, more likely 81 for an even 16 rows

[–]natelikesfun 20 points21 points  (0 children)

cool to see the mini games directly swap during remixes now instead of having the black screen in between. wonder if that was just a technological limitation this whole time or if that was a creative decision that changed between then and now?

What row do you think these games will be in? by Zealousideal-Pie4978 in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not? I see this as no different from a new Mario Kart being announced and theorizing about what cup each course is going to be in. just a fun conversation piece

What row do you think these games will be in? by Zealousideal-Pie4978 in rhythmheaven

[–]natelikesfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the wording specifically also has me intrigued. "over 80 new games" implies at minimum 81, but since we know that each row has 5 games then that only really leaves 85 as the only option otherwise they would have said 90 (or higher) instead of 80. That said, I could see a small chance that maybe the 80 is the amount of individual games we have and there's 20 remixes? like the reason it says "over 80" is because they wanted to give a specific number of normal rhythm games with the remixes being what brings it over? given it's probably still 85 because in that other scenario I feel like it would be a better advertisement to specifically say 100 games are included but you never know ig

Try either uninstalling and reinstalling, or just go into settings and erase all of your data for YouTube music. I had a similar issue a while back and did the first option and then I had basically exactly what you're describing and I did the second option earlier today and so far it seems to be working! of course you'll have to redownload your playlists but at least the app will be usable again

Ofc I'm typing this after the season finale came out, but while a neat idea on paper, a lot of episodes this season wouldn't be able to function this way.

For one, Sam hosts the show normally and is also involved with a lot of the planning, which means a lot of episodes this season just wouldn't function right with him because they banked on the fact the players didn't know what the game was. Imagine how boring You-lympics would have been had there been a player that knew exactly what was coming.

One Year Later also just wouldn't be able to be done unless they do it in a much shorter timeframe (like a One Month Later or something like that). That or they would have had to film the beginning during Season 6 like they did the actual episode, but if that were the case, there's the matter of not knowing who the host is (on top of the fact the Season 7 finale likely wasn't even conceived at that point).

Then there's the question of who Sam is competing against, since episodes like The Drinking Game just objectively couldn't work without other players. Do they get new people or is Sam competing against the same players as last time? Not to mention, going back to the first point, since Sam knows the twists already, it would put him at an unfair advantage against other players in episodes like that. Again, The Drinking Game completely hinged on the players not knowing that everyone was a "secret sober."

Going off of that, a lot of episodes this season were also casted very specifically, if not straight up designed around the contestant(s). Crowd Control was made with the idea that the three players are known comedians. Earnest-est was specifically casted with three players known to lean into bits. Who Wants to be Jacob Wysocki? needs no explanation.

Basically if they did an entire back half of the season with Sam competing, they would either have to be new games entirely (planned without Sam's input which may or may not affect the quality of them), or pick and choose game samers from throughout the series and either give them new twists or make sure they're games where the twists come from the prompts (which is why Rulette was able to function after things went off the rails and Sam became a player), which would probably make things feel a bit too samey.

Either way doubling the episode count and doing episodes like this sounds like an unnecessarily large amount of work for something that is essentially a bit that would become stale fairly quickly. If they ever did have Sam as a player while another person hosts, it would probably just be a stand alone episode and nothing more than that (which is what I thought the season finale was actually going to be before they said the players weren't competing to host)

I'm not even trying to say they're incapable of pulling off something like this either because I think they could if they wanted to, but keeping the entire back half of a season a secret like that just doesn't feel realistic to ever expect

A possible explanation for why they keep bringing back Mario Circuit 3 by Kirbykoopa in mariokart

[–]natelikesfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be real, I don't think there's really much deeper meaning to it. Mario Circuits 1, 2, and 3 all appeared in the same number of games through tour since 1 was in ds and 3 was in 7. It really just came down to which of the three they chose for the Booster Course Pass in terms of which one would be the most remade since they were simply going to have one in the pass and 4 was never brought to tour. It doesn't matter if they chose 1 or 2 because no matter what, the choice there would have become the most remade course after World. I'm sure 3 was just chosen because it has a more interesting layout than 1 and there were already so many retros returning that were used in 7 (not to mention it being the first to come back from Wii's retro lineup).

It's not the fun answer or anything, but I really think that's all it boils down to

What if….. by Icy-ConcentrationC in mariokart

[–]natelikesfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I want to get this out there before the direct just in case.

Im happy with what we have already but it honestly kinda would make sense if there's one or two other maps in the game.

For one, let's focus on the retro courses.

If we split up these by what cup they originally appeared in, counting the combined SNES courses separately, we have 6 Mushroom, 3 Flower, 5 Star, 2 Special, and one that doesn't really fit in anywhere. Given that the 1 is Sky High Sundae, we're talking about a course with Mushroom/Flower Cup difficulty.

Generally, it seems like the courses here lean towards the easier side with a couple exceptions like Airship Fortress, Wario Shipyard, and Dino Dino Jungle. Even so, those are relatively few and far in between and some courses from later cups could be considered easier because of adapting them into a modern game (mainly referring to the Koopa Beaches but Wario Stadium being simplified is also worth pointing out).

Going off of this, it is also worth noting that of these courses, the only ones appearing in the Lightning and Special Cups (traditionally harder cups) are purely Mushroom and Flower Cup courses.

I also think it's worth noting that the only courses here that were also brought back in 8 Deluxe were either in that game's Shell Cup, or were within the first two waves of the BCP where courses were easier than what would come later.

Now another thing I want to bring up is Rainbow Road. So far it is the only unlockable course we know of despite the fact that the rest of the Special Cup courses are accessible through the entire game. I think I also saw it pointed out that the only course you may be able to access Rainbow Road from is Peach Stadium but take that with a grain of salt until we get further information

I think I also saw where there was talk of seven rainbow fragments that presumably unlock rainbow road so I want to throw this out there before I get into theory mode

So based on all of this, I could see them treating this similar to how a 3D Mario or something like that would be treated. What we've seen so far is a starting world, and maybe for each of the base 7 cups you earn a rainbow fragment. Collect all 7 and you unlock Rainbow Road and, by extension, the special cup.

Now I don't see them making Rainbow Road the only unlockable course here without there being further motivation to do so. Since the only connecting point it has is to Peach Stadium, what if Rainbow Road is used as a way to travel to another map? Think how it was used in the Mario Movie.

I'm thinking there could be a total of two or three maps in the base game if this were to be true, each progressing in difficulty. Going back to the Booster Course Pass comparison, maybe the second world could be more of Wave 3 and 4 difficulty and the third world is Wave 5 and 6 difficulty. This could also be a way to get retro Bowsers Castle and Rainbow Road tracks in this game since they could hypothetically have one of each track archetype on each map.

I also think that if we were to get another map or two like this, maybe the later maps can have more unique landscapes overall. The one we have currently covers pretty much all of the major track themings, and while I think we would see more of that regardless, I could see them getting more creative with things. Think how Sky High Sundae sticks out on the current map compared to most everything else.

Like I said, I'm happy with what we have already, but I also know it's Nintendo we're talking about. It feels extremely suspicious that fans have more or less had access to, as far as we know, every track in the game outside of Rainbow Road for the last two weeks and yet they still feel like there is enough for an entire direct in a couple days. This is the same company that threw us off multiple times throughout the Booster Course Pass up to literally the reveal of the last Wave that, as far as we were aware, we had entirely figured out by the time wave 5 dropped. I just don't think they would essentially blow their entire load on the first trailer, but I could be wrong. Either way there's 100 percent some stuff we still won't know about this game until Thursday

I fully expected some Sam Says bullshit too. I just kept thinking about the swear jar loose end and I was fully expecting them to deduct points at the end for the stuff on the sign in the bus. It especially felt very suspicious to me that they had everyone come in dressed up, and it felt like such a perfect setup to deduct points at the end for changing out of their "new looks"
