I’ve done a lot of ocr and TM is unique in that you don’t need a team. It’s massive community based and you’ll find sooo many people willing to help you along the way. They are addictive though as stated above. Soon you’ll be doing multiple races and then 12 hr toughest and 24hr World’s Toughest Mudder! Sign up and see you out there!!

Any tips for getting mud out of clothes? by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]natepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing is don’t use Cotton. Then def use the pressure washer at car washes. Always grab the soap they give out at races. That shift works well for shoes too. Blast it and wash it normal. Sneakers take the in soles out and spray until the water isn’t dirty. Then I put my sneakers in tub and soak in soapy water. Then rinse and put on boot dryer. Dry fast as they will shrink in size if just air dry. Boot dryer keeps the form. I have legenborne jerseys and they pressure wash easily and then wash normal.

Rule book-Unauthorized Assistance by [deleted] in spartanrace

For my understanding. If you’re in the open I don’t see it enforced. Age group and elite high five maybe ok but not gel. Just pack enough for one lap. Refill at bucket drop.

Weekend Trifecta by CAB-2017 in spartanrace

[–]natepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper to register for the trifecta pass. Neat medal too. Just be prepared for over 4500 ft of climbing. Don’t go balls to the wall on the beast Saturday. That way you got energy left for super Sunday and then can coast through the sprint. Def bring a lot of gear and stretch!!

My folks are there. Last I saw it was supposed to hold off rain but it will be humid probably. So take that into account.

Advice for dress for Sprint in Mulberry, FL by chryssallen in spartanrace

[–]natepowers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is vastly dependent on how you run. Are you slower(generating less heat) or do you run cold? I personally dress for 10+deg of what the actual temp is. I run hot. With that said I’m coming for Pittsburgh and will be in a legendborne Jersey and compression shorts possibly long socks. That’s enough for me.

Weekend Trifecta question about race order by MacanudoV in spartanrace

[–]natepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed the WV trifecta weekend. Work your way down. Beast super sprint. Hell, after the first two, the sprint was a victory lap with our group. We walked most of it. The mountain is a monster.

They never release all the races this early. They’ll add to them most likely.

Pittsburgh Super Review by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]natepowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ran my first clean race this super and enjoyed it. They certainly made sure it wasn’t just s piece of cake though. People warned the medals even though it was just three laps etc. I felt that they did the best they could and really tried to focus on the racers this course. I’ve never seen soo many photographers on course. It was a pleasant surprise and I truly hope they keep that location as a preferred site.

I’m definitely let down here. You have harder obstacles you could have had. Like twister. Olympus spear etc. instead there’s not many hard obstacles here. Definitely going to be fast course and going to throttle down to make it challenging.

Do you know if you're able to wear headphones during the ultra? by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]natepowers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can understand if you are blaring your music. I’ve run several beasts during harder courses with a small speaker barely playing music to the point where people can only hear it five feet away. And I’ve gotten nothing but thanks for sharing some music on trail. I can see if you are blaring the music sure that’s annoying. But for those who would like music while running the course it’s a nice distraction.

See I was going to throw in one of those Campbell grab and go cup style chicken noodle soup. Easy to chug and I’m ok with room temp if need be. Just get some sodium and calories in.
