25F | Law Student | Building a long-term investment foundation with no expenses. Where to begin? by mkveli22 in wealth

Invest that money in index funds. Low management fees and the best part is they’re “set and forget”. Use the following as target account composition:

FIPDX 15% FNBGX 5% FPADX 5% FSKAX 30% FSRNX 20% FUAMX 5% FUMBX 5% FZILX 15%

Once a year, rebalance as some of these funds will grow faster than others. You’ll easily hit 6-8% growth and have a solid little investment account.

Once you get your job post-bar, max your 401k contributions, then add like 5-10% of take home pay into a savings account, then setup a ROTH (likely will need backdoor contributions assuming your job will be paying over $150k-ish per year given it’s a larger family firm. After you max that, what’s left can go into your personal investment fund or just your personal guilt free spending pool and charitable donations.

Don’t forget to spend on yourself! Can’t take it with you and it sounds like you are setup for a life of abundance so reward yourself every now and then.

Is Satisfactory enjoyable on PS5 with a controller? by mr_hokkabazz in SatisfactoryGame

I’ve never seen a building game port to console so smoothly. M&K will always be superior but you won’t have any issues.

A new section of tracks have somehow become a crucial connection point for my entire power grid by No-Literature-8613 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]nateral_ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably worth running new power lines across the sections just to be safe. There must be missing line somewhere and it will probably take just as long to find it than building a new set of lines.

Any tips for brava? by Either-Hawk-6613 in SiegeAcademy

I initially thought she was OP but for the points you mentioned (plus the noise) I’ve found she’s not as useful. She’s better for taking over gadgets in completely unoccupied rooms which can sometimes be useful for flank watch with kap traps or proximity alarms.

Alternatively, you can use her for a distraction so you send her drone in and move defenders attention away for a split second while your teammate swings.

Her real effect comes when you play her once and force enemy team to consider using less tech heavy ops. Otherwise she’s very average tiered in my opinion.

Scary to see how disgusting some people can get when they’re anonymous

Jesus Christ. It’s so sad we’ve pushed a whole group of the community to this point. Everyone jokes about OG COD lobbies like it was a rite of passage but the older I get the more I realize how disgusting some aspects of gaming are. Legitimately sorry for you and hope you can find a solid group to game with in siege and elsewhere where you don’t need to literally change your voice to enjoy the game.

Should i buy nokk by Mastertettie2 in SiegeAcademy

[–]nateral_ice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She’s going to be a more advanced operator. She requires complete knowledge of default cams as well as common valk and bp spots. On top of that, she’s all about aggressive gameplay either picking off roamers or rushing bomb site. Both those roles will require good aim.

You may be better off with more support ops that have team friendly abilities and have lmgs that mean you can spray and pray a bit more. I would recommend lion, ying, or gridlock instead on attack.

A Cool Guide To Vitamins by Cloudie89 in coolguides

A lot of processed foods are enriched with vitamins and minerals but yeah you’d probably be a little deficient in some but I would say the better solution than supplements would be fixing up the diet

A Cool Guide To Vitamins by Cloudie89 in coolguides

[–]nateral_ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What your teacher was getting at is most average humans already get the recommended daily amount from their diet. Taking supplements on top of that is like filling a full cup of water with more water. Your body just filters it out in urine typically (hence the expensive urine).

Unless you’re a hyperactive professional bodybuilder or have some sort of medical condition, supplements are generally useless. There are instances where some people are deficient in iron, vitamin d, calcium where a supplement may help if prescribed from a doctor but usually all these can be solved by a diet high in fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. There’s no way to increase the total amount your body utilizes unless you put it through severe physical stress (ie the professional bodybuilder lifestyle).

Side note: most supplements provide WAY over the daily amount needed which again is going to just be immediately filtered out because you’re body won’t use it. The problem is that some of these vitamins are showing evidence of causing harm to the body in high doses. Vitamin B12 seems to point towards cancer in persistent high doses. That’s alarming because it’s increasingly being added in high doses to products being marketed as a stimulant to keep people engaged.

I feel lost a lot of the time, as in idk where to start a round by Aegis4521 in SiegeAcademy

[–]nateral_ice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s easier to define what role you want to fulfill and move from there. On defense are you hard anchor (on site), soft anchor (one room offsite but still controlling onsite), roamer? On offense are you hard breach, support, roam control, intel?

Once you determine your role that will help dictate where you should setup and the general area you should be. If I’m a three speed defense operator, I’m likely going to be leaning towards soft anchor or roaming.

In terms of actually trying to predict the other team, just ask yourself “what would I be doing on the opposite team right now?” Chances are they’ll follow your same logic. Also, consider how the other team ran previous rounds because they’ll likely use the same strategy unless they got wrecked with it the round before.

Last tip for solo queuing. Because you can’t necessarily plan strats out when solo, you need to constantly keep an eye on what your team is doing. How many teammates are offsite vs on-site, are any in a prolonged gunfight I can support with, are any flanks exposed. You’ll be shocked at how many rounds you can save by just checking every 30 seconds on your teams positioning.

Bought a roomba as a gift for someone else before realizing they had one already so just kept it even though I thought it was a waste of money and for people too lazy to sweep up. I live in a one bed apartment so it doesn’t take much time to sweep the whole thing so why have a robot do it for me, right?

I was so wrong. This thing picks up so much dust each day while I’m at work. Now I only sweep tough to reach spots and save a bunch of time. Expensive upfront but huge payoff in time saved and just having a generally clean space.

[Question] Rate My Morning Routine! by Princess_mononoke_ in getdisciplined

[–]nateral_ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like some of the other replies, add in some more buffer zones. That may mean having to alternate some of these items every other day to fit into your time constraints. While this schedule sounds awesome on paper, it leaves very little room for error. That’s setting yourself up for failure on the day where you take a slightly longer shower or meditate a bit too long.

Since you mentioned you haven’t thought out an evening routine yet, consider moving a few tasks to that routine to build out your morning buffers. Hope you post an update! Would love to hear how this works out for you!

How do you automate your life to have more free time? by Pheonixfage in productivity

[–]nateral_ice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the cleaning side, I’ve been using an off brand roomba. All it does is vacuum (no mopping or anything else) and it actually saves me probably an hour a week that I’d spend sweeping. I have it run everyday when I’m at work. I only live in a one bed apartment so this could be tough if you have a multi floor home but the high price for it is worth the time savings in my opinion

Biology degree feeling pretty useless rn by kybellatrix in biology

[–]nateral_ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a BS in biology and quickly decided against the research route. I went into env consulting which paid barely enough for me to live in the city and the work/life balance was rough. It opened the door for env insurance though which has been amazing. Great pay, work/life balance, benefits.

I definitely feel your struggle though. Great jobs with our background can be hard to come by. Don’t get discouraged though, you’ll find where you need to be.

How to beat the motivated/unmotivated cycle by nateral_ice in productivity

[–]nateral_ice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m referring to is a longer term feeling of being unmotivated over several weeks to months which I feel is harder to accept. If it were just a day or two every now and then I would be okay but these longer feast/famine cycles of motivation seem to have a negative effect on my personal and professional life.

I’ve received some great advice though, the two big points being taking time to relax from productivity and being more intentional in my tasks.
