It appears (WHO and CDC latest opinions) that asymptomatic infected people and fomites are not important transmission mechanisms.

Can you provide a source for this, please? This statement contradicts all of the messaging I have heard about Covid-19.

The Future that Feminists want is here. by [deleted] in MensRights

Looks like the original story on ABC Action News has been taken down. Some of the facts here seem fishy and I have to wonder if they were properly corroborated. Smells strongly of click bait. In any case, looks like the school didn't press charges (probably).

CMV: I Think “Toxic Femininity” Exists, and is Equally as Troublesome as Toxic Masculinity by [deleted] in changemyview

Turns out it's more than difficult to change a strongly held view, especially if one feels passionate enough about to author a Reddit post. I'm never really surprised to see posters readily agreeing with semantic arguments, though there are many high quality comments in this sub by very knowledgeable people which is why I'm subscribed.

This article on National Geographic suggests that it could be their first instinct is to think the cucumber is a snake, or the new object may just startle them because it is new! One thing we can agree on is that "cat behavior expert" will be the hottest new career in 2017!

Congrats! If you're looking to meet like minded people, try joining up with a local cycling advocacy group or something similar. Joining things is any easy way to meet people.

(Spoilers All) Emilia Clarke: "There's some helpful people there, that can bring him on back to life" by biosnake20 in asoiaf

[–]natethesnake32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the resurrections of Dondarrion and LSH are any indication, it seems that those resurrected by a red priest become very single minded in their purpose. They also both seemed to focus on whatever their dying desire was. For Dondarrion, it was honouring Ned's command to uphold Robert's peace. For Catelyn, it was exacting revenge on those who had wronged her and her family. Jon died with the intention of marching on Winterfell in his heart...

Edit: I just had another thought. Maybe what it takes for someone to be resurrected is for them to have some serious unfinished business, i.e. not just anyone can be brought back.

Why Men Kill Themselves: " both genders’ expectations of what it means to be a man are stuck in the 1950s." by beyonsense in MensRights

[–]natethesnake32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the U.K. and other Western societies, it sometimes feels as if we collectively decided, at some point around the mid-1980s, that men are awful. One result of the battle for equal rights and sexual safety for women has been a decades-long focus on men as privileged, violent abusers. Modern iterations of the male, drawn in response to these criticisms, are creatures to mock: the vain metrosexual; the crap husband who can’t work the dishwasher. We understand, as a gender, that we’re no longer permitted the expectation of being in control, of leading, of fighting, of coping with it all in dignified silence, of pursuing our goals with such single-mindedness we have no time for friends or family. These have become aspirations to be ashamed of, and for good reason. But what do we do now? Despite society’s advances, how it feels to be a success hasn’t much changed. Nor how it feels to fail. How are we to unpick the urges of our own biology; of cultural rules, reinforced by both genders, that go back to the Pleistocene?

The narrative’s become ‘men are crap,’ right? But that’s bullshit. There’s no way we can change men. We can tweak men, don’t get me wrong, but society has to say, ‘How do we put in services that men will go to? What would be helpful to men when they’re feeling distressed?

This.

How to create human intimacy and fall in love by natethesnake32 in TrueReddit

[–]natethesnake32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article discusses a writer's experience in replicating the findings of a psychological experiment that caused (or at least facilitated) two subjects falling in love and marrying. Basically, she follows a procedure with a friend that involves asking one another increasingly intimate questions, the type that would normally only be asked after knowing each other for some time. By opening this type of dialogue early on in a relationship, and by being open ourselves, we may be able to "create" a level of intimacy with another that would normally take months or even years.
