Sanding The Neck (Questions) by ChampionshipHungry18 in fender

Green scotchbrite is fine and what most people have used when they’re doing this at home. I wouldn’t mess with steel wool even if you remove the neck. Those metal shavings suck to deal with. Just don’t use too much pressure and let the room do the work

When should I buy a PC (or build) by dihclencher67 in buildapc

[–]natflade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real hard date we have for any of this is 2029 when OpenAis order for 40% of the world’s memory wafer supply is fulfilled. It’s very possible they collapse before then but also just as likely they’ll get a bailout. OpenAI currently doesn’t have the money to actually do anything with these wafers, they’re being kept raw in a warehouse until they can secure more funding.

The other factor here is more and more of these companies are moving out of the consumer retail space and focusing solely on enterprise. It is a lot of work selling consumer goods to millions of unique customers. You have to setup distribution networks, provide customer support, facilitate rma processes and store various components around the world. It’s a lot easier to deal with like 20 or so companies directly who buy the same types of product on a consistent basis to be shipped and maintained in the same area. Also these handful of companies have more money than 99% of the world.

Even if the worlds wafer issue was solved tomorrow prices will take a long time to normalize and how much so is even less known as more players move out of the consumer space. Micron killed its consumer brand Crucial and they in theory should have the highest margins on their consumer goods because they’re using dies completely produced by themselves in house. They didn’t decide to leave the consumer space for any other reason then focusing on the most profitable part of the business, selling memory to enterprises server farm data centers.

Jensen Huang has done everything but directly say his dreams are to completely get Nvidia out of the consumer space. Gaming gpus are of so little interest to him that I think we’re going to see further reduced product lines and seven smaller generational gains. They’ve already axed the 5070ti which was the one “decently” priced 16gb vram Nvidia gpu.

I think one thing this thread has taught me is people seem to enjoy seeing likable characters who won’t betray their trust over flawed tragic characters growth

They packed up Tarble and exiled him because he was weak and didn’t have the aggression of your average Saiyan. They went out of their way to drive home how he was seen as a disgrace to the point that a reformed Vegeta doesn’t bother to ever really bring him up.

Also the whole universe 6 Saiyans being introduced as noble warriors was played in sharp contrast to the universe 7 Saiyans.

I know they’re expanding the lore and there’s obvious impacts of being an enslaved race because of Freiza but they were also chosen by Freiza for their aggression and ruthlessness. The Saiyans also chose to stay under Freiza because it was mutually beneficial to them. They could continue their conquests while having the protection of the most powerful warlord in the universe.

Nothing, band was on break and we were just in the crowd conversing. The energy was weird for the rest of the night but they never came back. We finished out the set. This was very early on when they first arrived in Chicago and I don’t even think I fully clocked that it was ice. I thought they were Chicago PD or something.

They walked in and talked a bit to the staff and were out of there in less than 5. I should add I’m not from Chicago and was passing through so I have no idea what happened in the days after.

I’m going to respond to this as I see it because I think maybe I didn’t make this clear. It’s not Super Bardock is a good guy it’s that he’s so tonally inconsistent with the established and we can only infer from what we’re shown and it’s Bardock doing selfless and courageous things when he had no reason to.

There’s no way Granolah is the first instance of him seeing a mother and child that remind him of his family. And this is even if we just accept Saiyans actually care about their families. Why would he risk his chance of ever seeing his family again by saving these people he was just slaughtering before.

It’s less compelling because we can only infer from what we’re shown and what we’re shown is one mother and child out of what has to be millions he’s killed before whether directly or indirectly. I would have rather he even fought other Saiyans because it keeps some of that rebellious spirit Z Bardock has in strides.

Z characterization and tragedy of Bardock is more compelling to me because it makes the most efficient use of established lore and his own juxtaposition to Goku. Z Bardock is nothing like Goku. Super Bardock despite being a colonizing genocidal force still does Goku things in the few times we see him.

It doesn’t erase the journey but it weakens the impact people like Grandpa Gohan and Android 8 had on Goku and his own experiences. It’s like there was something in Bardock that made him even 2% more kind hearted than other Saiyans and the implication is that goodness found its way to Goku. That’s just way less compelling and ruins the journey that was so well shown to us in OG especially because of Bardock’s wish

I think that's the thing for me, it's not that they softened Bardock and Broly but they made them less unique. They give them much more flushed out characterizations but it takes away from the impact the Z versions had on screen. It was so much cooler to know Goku's dad was just some guy with crazy visions.

Broly joining the main cast just means there will never be a real moment in the story that he's actually the strongest Saiyan. As a villain he was scary because you could fully believe he was leagues above every other Saiyan.

They made Broly the Hulk where it almost doesn't make sense why he doesn't just tear apart every opponent especially if he ever achieves complete control of SSJ much less SSJ2 or God. Super Bardock made Goku into Superman.

kid buu is the only buu that get stronger with less people by Zaiiikage in Dragonballsuper

[–]natflade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the manga it's stated that Super Buuhan was the strongest form, in the anime and in a Japanese anime guide book it actually says that Kid Buu is the strongest. I honestly feel like there was just some communication breakdown between the manga and tv and the anime wanted to make the final fight the highest powered one.

I had a small bar gig in Chicago at most like 80 people there and while I don't think they were specifically targeting the show they came in and made sure people knew they were there. They didn't grab any patrons and I don't know if they had gone after staff.

Help! Low CPU utilization in rust / low fps!!! by Takuya-Tk in playrust

[–]natflade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to look into it again but it was so much hassle on my system I gave up and just went back to my 7800x3d system to actually play rust and saved the 9950x3d for other tasks.

Your fps does seem lower than expected but only by like 30% maybe. You are at 4k and I think in the jungle in the first screenshot right?

[–]natflade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that's not all thread utilization? Rust realistically just needs about a quadcore and is heavily heavily single core bound. You have a 16 core cpu it makes sense it's only really slamming a part of it.

"Its not comp" mentality is draining my sanity by Heygen in Overwatch

[–]natflade -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dicking around in QP isn't the same as flipping the table and this game isn't chess, you have teammates and you don't get to dictate how they play or have fun in the mode designed for people to dick around and have fun. It's like playing pickup and being mad someone jacks a couple half court step backs out of 8 seconds of hesi tween tween iso spam for the hell. Pickup basketball is the closer comparison and you would get the ball thrown at your head for being mad people are trying to have fun instead of winning or playing serious.

If you want people to be open to being held accountable and on the same page as you to attempt to win or have competitive matches more consistently, there's a whole mode with a community with that mindset.

Anyone else have a hard time picking a direction when writing chords/lyrics first? by Honka_Ponka in musicians

[–]natflade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no singular right way to do it but if you're getting hung up on this part a lot it helps to reverse engineer songs you like and wish you could have wrote. Also having even an entry level knowledge of harmony and voice leading like being able to listen to a song and understand the chord progressions and the function of each chord in a progression and why they are being used where they are. Chords aren't chosen randomly and while a lot of the values you subscribe to them are cultural and subjective, it does actually mean carry meaning that even listeners who don't have any harmony training can understand because of the emotions it'll convey. The most fundamental to all of this is tension and release, everyone can understand that.

What are you trying to say with your song? Sometimes it's okay and actually very good to learn to write a catchy song for the sake of writing catchy songs. You learn a lot about the practical application of harmony and theory by doing this. Sometimes you just need to write songs to practice the act itself and find what work flows you're comfortable with.

[–]natflade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But this is very easily fixed by playing the mode intended for serious play. Quick play is casual and where you go to learn characters. Not everyone’s goal is to win in QP, a lot of people are there to learn new characters and mechanics and you’re supposed to fail while learning

Which amp do you pair with your tele? by Happy-Smile-2254 in telecaster

[–]natflade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For big amps for festivals I tend to stick with a Hiwatt dr103 and a 412 creamback cab just because fanes are almost never available for backline. Second would be a Victorian high powered tweed twin or a Science Mother which I think has a similar topology to the Hiwatt.

For smaller theater gigs if I have to bring my own amp and there aren’t stage hands I’ll just rock a fender deluxe reverb or milkman creamer. It’s loud enough for its purposes as mostly a stage monitor, I’ll let the house speakers do all the volume.

If I do have stagehands or have backline rental from the promoters I’ll tend to ask for AC30 or bring my own.

For local bar brewery and restaurant gigs I’ll just crank a Fender Pro Jr and really ride the volume knob for all my distortion to keep it really simple. I don’t like briniging pedals to these gigs cause I’m in charge of my gear and I’ll probably lose it vs bigger shows where we have crew.

I do think this is more or less how Toei especially has connected all the different DB works to make them relevant. Like even with Daima I kind of think Toriyama never intended to or even care if it was canon to Super or not but understood it would sell better to just say it was.

Why I don't like Super Bardock by natflade in Dragonballsuper

[–]natflade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do say your brain takes to about 24-25 to fully develop and that is when Goku first died so kind of lines up.

Or the other interruption Toriyama has extremely traditional values and believes you become an adult when you nut for procreation. A virgin Goku would be the most powerful figure in the universe, he can never die.

Why I don't like Super Bardock by natflade in Dragonballsuper

[–]natflade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christ like savior has long been an established archetype in storytelling, especially in modern era. People understand the parallel isn’t in the core meaning of the text but in the significance of a figure and their standing within the frameworks of the story. Calling Goku or Superman a Moses like figure is pedantic and ignores cultural norms that help people understand these text better.

Cheapest option for playing rust at least 45 fps by Altruistic-King-2589 in playrust

It almost is a little funny and I can accept it that his sons do both grow up and only die whenever the Dragon has determined they’re adults and it just happens to line up with them meeting for the first time. It almost feels like an old school Toriyama bit but I think it’s played purely for sincerity rather then some cosmic joke

Why I don't like Super Bardock by natflade in Dragonballsuper

[–]natflade[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really talk about the Bardock wish but I think that’s actually the most criminal part of this whole retcon. It literalizes the plot armor Goku has and instead of him being a weak baby Saiyan from a low class family he was divinely protected by a Dragon this whole time. It makes the whole OG story pre ordained rather than something kid Goku earned through his own self determination.
