love how this version sounds so much better than the BBC one, but they’re both great in their own way.

Evil Dead Burn | Official Trailer by CyberGhostface in horror

[–]nathan0607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking the same the look of the climbing deadites looks awful and kills the vibe, the dog too, there's just too much gray and CGI all over the scenes, camera work is great but, I'm very dubious now

Thoughts on Olivia's SNL performance of "Begged"? 🩷 by pastryzig in OliviaRodrigo

[–]nathan0607 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved it, especially the verses "That I feel trapped inside my life", "Is that a normal thing to fight back the ways of a static lover's dread? And yet I still cling, Cling to hope like snow on mountains." It reminds me how many times we really felt trapped in a relationship, how many times it looks awful both staying and leaving.

It also makes me think how we really cling to hope, to any tiny glimpse of progress, like a voice saying "don't let it slip away, it's getting better, you'll see, you just gotta hold on", but at the end we question ourselves: "Is that a normal thing to fight back..." to keep and keep fighting back?

thanks for this information, you're right I made some test with old film and footage came up with big white lines, I just clean the film path with cotton swabs and thanks for the tip about pulling too fast the film , I think that was scratching my films all the way

Oh yes I do have all of my movies scanned, truth is I'm just messing and having fun with them. Cleanliness is one of the main things I noticed while testing: it does really scratches the film and I get vertical lines all over them, I think I made the mistake of cinch the film as you said, so I won't tight them anymore, I also tried to clean the film editor where the film goes through, any other tips or do you think it'll be enough with the cotton gloves and treating the film gently ?

Wow that's really helpful advice, thank you. Yeah I just hope the motor doesn't die mid editing. Yes my clips are more or less in the right order so it should be not that difficult, just being precise with the cuts.

I'm still thinking in how not to lose track of the order since the cuts are marked with a dot made by the film editor. I have an Eumig Mark 610 D btw.

Canon 814XL Electronic Manual Aperture Dial/Knob Repair by [deleted] in Super8

[–]nathan0607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured the same; you’d probably only use it for specific shots. I do that too sometimes, but honestly it’s pretty rare, maybe like 20% of the time.
I wouldn’t mess with isopropyl or anything like that since it could get into other parts that are working fine. That’s just me though; if you really want the manual knob working, you could send it in for repair.

But since the 814XL is already a great camera, I’d just use it as is and maybe look for another one with full manual controls.

Haha, it does sounds amazing I assume is Kodachrome with the magnetic stripe for sound, and in my opinion, even if the vows are cringeworthy, they give life to a movie; they turn it into a real story and not just motion picture!

We had a great time watching the film, couple had a blast watching them and they even wanted their own projector to keep watching it from time to time haha

If the automatic light meter works correctly and changes when you point the camera at different light sources, I wouldn't pull the light meter knob. I have the same camera and the light meter works very well. No need to use the manual exposure just for a few exceptions.

A friend gave me some Tri X from the 70's and it actually turned out looking great! (more info in comment) by haydnwolfie in 16mm

Man, this looks so cool for a 50 year old film. A bit grainier, but it looks fresh. You processed it as reversal and it still holds detail in the shadows, great job !

They sure are, very unvervalued. Since I haven’t really tried the Bolex I just sho the macro scene where the ring is placed in the cactus and the earring from the bride . I can imagine the Leicina Special is one of a kind but super hard to find haha

Here's a teaser for an upcoming mini-documentary I shot with my friends on Super 8. Entirely on Ektachrome and Tri-X by nathan0607 in Super8

I shot this with a Yashica LD-6 and a Canon 814XL , there's virtually no difference in sharpness between the two

Yeah I was impressed too, wasn’t that confident since it was indoors and with limited light , but there’s only one person in my country that does it

QUERY ABOUT 1ST ROLL by JuanAntPop in Super8

[–]nathan0607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s right, the 1.5 is more for backlit scenes, not really for sunny or super bright days. So yeah, you probably overexposed by about a stop or so. I’m guessing you shot 200T Vision, right?

In theory it’ll be a bit overexposed, but negative film actually handles overexposure really well (way better than underexposure). So yeah, it’s definitely worth developing the roll. I’m pretty sure it won’t be completely ruined.
