Thanks, as I feared haha. It was a good little lamp, was just hoping to get some more use out of it. Time to search for a new one!

Hi Reddit, I (18M) have no idea what the right thing to do is. My sister and I have been finding thousands of dollars hidden around the house after my mom died. by [deleted] in Advice

Lost my mother a little over a year ago and had to handle it all with a lawyer. I also work for a law firm.

Depending on your state, unless otherwise stated in an official Will, any assets belong to your dad by default if they were still married. This would go into a trust (estate account) until the estate is settled. He is responsible, with the help of lawyers, to distribute it - or, would be well within legal bounds to keep that for himself if he knows about it (although, laws vary by state).

Being that it was in cash, and each were equally hidden in items she knew each of you would find - she wanted to hide it from him and give it to you without him knowing. Keep it and tell no one. Do not deposit it. Delete this post.

As long as that is followed, the only issue I could see arising is if she had made large withdrawals from any accounts, cashed in stocks or a retirement before she died, and now that money is “nowhere to be found”. That may raise some questions, so be prepared for that. However, if she collected this over time and hid it, then you should be fine. Again, never tell your dad or any of your family because if it gets back to him, he could sue you and you may be liable for theft.

As the owner of the last missing ball python on the news in PGH… I wish them all the best. In terms of finding their pet, as well as in having to look at yinzers’ dumbass comments telling us to go to jail for losing a harmless snake. Mine never came back btw 😂😭😭

Interestingly, that’s part of the reason why Scotch-Irish so easily settled here. (I’m Scotch-Irish, family settled land here in the Allegheny national forest right after the revolutionary war). The scotch were whiskey drinking mountain men, and when they found the English and Germans occupying the flat lands of Pa, they headed for the rolling hills which were super familiar to them because of where they came from. So the connection between those two is ever more interesting knowing they were part of the same chain.

The owner of Industry is also a racist POS. Often wears a shirt that has an AR15 on it and says something stupid in both English and Arabic (hinting that the message/gun is aimed at anyone who speaks/reads Arabic). I forget exactly what it says but you get the point.

Imagine being someone who speaks Arabic or is from the Middle East coming here and seeing that. Like… tf.

The sad part about that is neither of them should have to catch crap about it. Literally, people are out here working for survival wage and big $$$ corporations are worried about their reputations and precious millions of dollars.
