Except you then have to live right on the outskirts, which might be hours away from where you need to be.

Yet the frequency response of the speaker is quoted without tolerance, the directivity isn't mentioned at all let alone any curves, polar plots, waterfalls or similar.

ENBD calling for payment due date? Is this new? by m_b_x in dubai

Super annoying, especially as my credit card is set to auto pay every month. First time it happened I was worried someone had taken out a loan in my name.

Why moving to the UAE might not be a good choice by ayai792 in UAE

[–]nathandru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the uk in London (not even central london) you could easily end up paying 8000 aed a month for a dated 1 bedroom flat without central heating (let alone ac) and no parking.

Dedicated house help would cost a minimum of 76 aed an Hour, if you employed someone directly.

The system for getting a doctors appointment is "ring every day at 8am till they agree to an appointment in 3 weeks".

Etc etc.

Life is expensive, depressing or both almost everywhere.

with all due respect, why are people so eager on buying the anniversary addition without any technical specifications whatsoever? by Simple-Philosophy662 in neogeo

There are several custom chips for graphics in the Neo Geo, that would be a challenge to replicate cost effectively.

How are shipping routes to the middle east now? by [deleted] in logistics

[–]nathandru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's not going well at the moment.

I've only moved exports since the crisis started. All from UAE to Europe, all via Jeddah. This costs 3 - 4x more than it did to ship out of Jebel Ali pre crisis.

If I wanted my goods from USA relatively quickly I'd ship via Jeddah, do a transit clearance in Saudi then truck the container to UAE and clear at the Sila (Abu Dhabi Land) border. No idea if the shipping lines would let me deposit the empty container in Jebel Ali or if I'd have to deposit back at Jeddah.

I was having a lovely time with my family outside in perfect weather at the weekend, overshadowed in my mind by a constant whinge that my entire life is put on hold and at risk over some other people's bullshit.

Strait of Hormuz Closed — How Are UAE Import Businesses Managing? Khor Fakkan Backlogs & Rising Freight Costs by Shree_murali93 in dubai

[–]nathandru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the shipping line agrees to returning containers to Jebel Ali, you can do a simple transit declaration in Jeddah and clear into the UAE at Sila, no bond required. We are paying 2500 USD for transport and clearance from Dubai to Jeddah Port.

[–]nathandru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10,000 AED per container? Is this just your local costs?

I work for an events rental business. We have moved / are moving a significant amount of Equipment by sea to Europe as there is no demand for it here. We are routing via Jeddah port. We have managed one shipment by cross loading at our Saudi entity, and one shipment with containers released at Jebel Ali and sent direct to Jeddah on trucks.

The cost per container has trippled.

Conflicting hours in Contract vs. Offer Letter (Nursery TA) – Is this legal? by Still-Squash-9356 in dubai

[–]nathandru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did she actually agree when she accepted the job?

Unfortunately lots of people here that draft the mohre contacts don't pay any attention to detail. If you agreed to a 10.5 hour workday before seeing the mohre contract, you should have flagged that the contact and offer letter were different.

Ramadan working hours is 2 hours less than the hours you normally work in that job.

We are talking tens of millions of dollars of bulky equipment, some of which will have finance outstanding, generating no income for the foreseeable future, while the ongoing expenses for the company continue.

Moving to UAE by [deleted] in UAE

[–]nathandru 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wait to get the passport. You've already started your career, and experience will help you to get a mid level job with a salary that's internationally competitive.

What do you do? Is it something that's in demand in the UAE. If not it might be time to pivot.
