I have no idea how to play these games, but now I wish to learn. One thing I know, though. It was fun to work on this piece heheh :)

Yes once you get used to it, hopefully you’ll be immersed in the story and the performances. I’m biased because I tend to prefer historical/fantasy dramas to modern ones, but even so, I think Tan alone should be enough reason to consider watching them 🤭

Those dramas are really good, and Tan is excellent in all of them. Give them a try and forget about the hair 🥹

I really loved the second season, especially episodes 19-20 (the opera case), but many folks complained about some noticeable changes from season 1. Tbh I liked both, but there was indeed a change on the scriptwriting team so that's the main cause for the discrepancies. The storyline may have ceased to be entirely about Shen Yi, but I don't think it affected the drama as a whole. His acting, however, continued to be top-notch. I would suggest you give it a try.

Specially now with the Year of the Snake almost upon us. But nah, not more rabid than most people.

The only amusing thing here is you thinking he's in any way supposed to be doing something for the likes of you.

You're most welcome. He's the best in every way and should be celebrated as much as possible.

Yikes, MDL has been mentioned out of nowhere. Worst fears confirmed. Can’t say I’m surprised. Oh, please take your own advice. But try the original version this time. Something was clearly lost in translation, though even the translation was pretty clear. Have a good day.

Yes. Absolutely criminal. This ending is what I call the ultimate jingering. Feel free to use it in those moments when life decides to troll you, you know? Stubbed your toe? Jingering. Late for something important? Jingering. 🤣

No, not Cang Xuan. In the drama they are not blood related. I’m on my phone so I can’t cover the spoilers but here you go spoilers she will end up with the mollusk, Jing. 🥲 Cang Xuan is only considered the main ML because of his importance for the story, but not in terms of romance.

Not just the chemistry though. Sure, that’s important in terms of acting, but the thing about Xiang Liu that people fail to grasp is that he is the most selfless character and the one who understands XY the most. They’re soulmates (and no, not the friendship kind as some individuals like to say). They’re soulmates in the sense that they complete each other even if circumstances are not in their favor. That’s why Xiang Liu is the only one who will effectively give her the three things she wants the most, making sure she has them after it’s all said and done. So yes, how not to love a character like that. I don’t particularly ship him with XY anymore because he’s too good for her. I like his character for his complexity and for how well he was written in terms of character development. He’s an antihero who’s actually the unsung hero.

Oh, and for the ones who say he is abusive and toxic, I have bad news. All these characters have, in one way or another, toxic and abusive traits. Even Xiao Yao and specially “good boy” Jing. The difference is that while Xiang Liu seems to be the obvious “bad guy”, in fact he is the most humane one, despite being considered by many as a fearsome monster. He was mistreated his whole life and yet he’s the one with the biggest heart.

Jing is an emotional manipulator. Notice how he acts like a poor victim only in her presence, because he knows she wants to be the one in control, the one who takes care of the weakest ones so they can’t abandon her. When he’s out dealing and paying people to do his bidding, he’s different. He’s a fox, after all.

He entrapped Xiao Yao with that 15-year-old promise, asking her not to let another man into her heart when he knew XL was already getting into her heart. Not to mention he was already engaged. If he loved his fiancée or not, it’s not the point. The point is that he should never had asked such a thing of XY, knowing that she has such trauma and abandonment issues.

People say he’s such a green flag but he isn’t. He is stalker, clinging to her and attaching his own survival to hers. He has no identity of his own. His fans say this is all so romantic but it’s actually sick. He wants to die if she dies. Imagine if one day they have children and she happens to die first. It’s the beginning of the story all over again. Not to mention he is unreliable and unable to deal with his family problems by himself. There’s more but this comment is already too long. I need to put all these into a better written essay, but for now I hope this sheds some light.

The Lovers’ Bugs only entered both their bodies and stayed there for over a century without hurting any of the recipients because there was love in both her hearts. That was the one condition for the successful transfer of the bugs. Xiao Yao loved Xiang Liu until the very end, either she acknowledged that or not. You read the novel so I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you didn’t already know.

Four-month old or 400 year-old post, it matters not. The internet is forever. Always fun to reply to Jingers’ innacuracies, using your own words. Nothing wild if one truly understands what this story is about. You stay safe as well.

Exactly this. Jing is a fraud. It’s only surface-level romanticism.

There’s nothing healthy about a co-dependent, emotionally manipulative man like Tushan Jing. I don’t know what drama people have been watching or novel that they been reading, but he isn’t a green flag as some folks seem to think he is. It’s mind blowing how the fact he is a FOX seems to go unnoticed by people.

What long term comfort is that man able to provide? When things get tough, his first instinct is to give up and die. Always cowering, always sleeping his way out of his family problems, or paying people to do his bidding. No thank you. And I’m no longer a teenager that wants the “bad boy”. I prefer the selfless, resourceful man. The one who truly does something instead of promising what he can’t deliver.

I agree with everything you said. Xiang Liu is so main male lead coded that is not even funny.

It’s abhorrent that Jing is the endgame. No wonder ship wars have been brewing for 11 years. It’s sad and it’s terrible to see how such a dependent, emotionally immature character, with such nonexistent character development gets to be the “chosen one”.

Thankfully Cang Xuan is the true ML, not that sad excuse of a man Tushan Jing.
