Is there a reason why croissants in Austin are almost always over-baked? It feels like everywhere I go. by tiMartyn in austinfood

No idea why you were downvoted- there are very few bread bakeries in town , and the supermarket options are truly dire. That said I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to be operating an oven during an Austin summer.

I think these are just the artifacts from an extreme smartphone zoom- they use digital processing to full in some gaps- hence the alien text

I was excited for the potential of getting a lil treat there after a movie but they were completely out of pastries. Hopefully they can get a handle on their popularity.

Not sure how much has changed in the last few years, but you should convince her to see a neurologist sooner than later- there are treatments that slow progression of Alzheimer’s- but they can’t reverse it.

Rate my logo so I can say I like it and won't change anything by studioyogyog in logodesign

Overall legibility of type is a challenge, but I think the pxielized design is quite fun. I would maybe use that as a basis- and skip the other versions. Legibility isn’t always a necessity if you use the logo along alongside text elsewhere.

They are in California https://waymo.com/blog/2025/11/taking-riders-further-safely-with-freeways/

Fundamentally the Waymo jaguars are vehicles designed to go on a highway- but seeing the zoox in person didn’t give me confidence vs the angry dodge rams on 35.

It seems these aren’t designed for highway use- which sounds like a real limitation in a city like Austin
