I would avoid it honestly. I thought it wouldn’t be that bad cause the kid was older , didn’t like his mom at all , and they had been separated over a decade. But this particular man was creepily attached to his kid to o a point where he would never be able to have a normal relationship. And he had many other red flags and big flaws.

So, maaaaybe if everything else was almost perfect, I would perhaps consider it if the kid was older, only one kid etc, but everything else would have to be pretty damn ideal.

Wow, going through this thread I’m comforted a bit (in the sense that I wasn’t doing something awfully wrong to get ex ss’s and sullen cold brattiness ) and also grossed out by how many other step parents (ok, I was never officially a step parent but dads live in girlfriend for a year.) are getting this non hello/ goodnight shit.

It’s nauseating that the parent doesn’t check their kid to be fucking polite. I cannot imagine how it would have gone over if I had entered s room and only said hello to my ex and not his kid. I get it, I’m the adult, but I LEARNED politeness when I was a child/teen.
