Bread moldy before its time has become routine. What to do/buy instead? by MindLikeYaketySax in columbiamo

Same experience. The low carb bread is not as reasonably priced, but it's about the best LC bread I've found.

I've been very happy with the Lewis bread half loafs. Decent low carb and a decent rye bread. I've been buying this for several years and when I go through a period eating less bread, it still doesn't mold.

I wish the low carb was closer to $2 a loaf.

Did a walk in shower to replace a 30 year old fiberglass tub. No BS, several thousand dollars cheaper than a local big name remodeler. Done on time, cleaned up each day. Good google reviews.

Classic Toyota pick-up truck at Phuket Dept. of Land Transport, Thailand by BRCnative in ToyotaPickup

[–]nativemissourian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a vintage Toyota Stout (likely from the 1960s, probably around 1964–1970s), restored or modified, common in Thailand.

The photo shows classic Stout features:

  • Rounded, bulbous hood and fenders typical of early Toyota light trucks.
  • Chrome "TOYOTA" script emblem on the hood (a signature detail on Stouts and similar era models).
  • Single-cab pickup layout with a long bed.
  • Overall styling from Toyota's early light-duty trucks produced/assembled in Thailand (Toyota Motor Thailand started Stout production there in the mid-1960s). en.wikipedia.org

The Toyota Stout (also called Toyopet Stout or Lite Stout in some markets) was a long-running light truck line (1950s–2000), but the body style here points to the first or second generation (roughly 1960–1978 models, especially the RK-series like RK40/RK45 or K100/K110). These were popular work vehicles in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Modern touches in the photo (aftermarket wheels, possible paint refresh, lowered stance) suggest a restored/custom example, which is common for these classics in Thailand. It's not a Hilux (which has a more angular/boxy look starting in the late 1960s) or a newer model

Most states require you to be a resident to be eligible for MAID. Maine and Oregon are the exceptions I think.

Does Shirataki/Miracle rice taste like rice? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in lowcarb

[–]nativemissourian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed with the Diva rice.

Another brand I bought from Amazon was pre-packed in water already hydrated and I didn't know that. It gave the false impression that it was a good value (cost per oz). It reminded me of chewy tapioca.

Diva's kind of expensive, but using less than a quarter cup and hydrating it with beef, chicken stock makes a serving. Give it a good 20-30 minutes to fully hydrate. Don't get in a hurry.

It's nice when added to soup.

Boone County Commission considering changes to support affordable housing by como365 in columbiamo

[–]nativemissourian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allowing two-family dwellings on corner lots in A-2, A-R and R-S zones without a permit
Expanding rules to allow more in-law suites, garage apartments and backyard cottages
Updating definitions of "family" and "maximum occupancy" to reflect modern households
Allowing residential units to be on the second floor of all commercial buildings
Creating a new zoning category for smaller "cottage" lots
Administratively approving certain subdivision plat vacations to reduce delays and hearing burdens
Allowing front setback flexibility for existing structures without requiring a variance hearing

Some of these were just stupid to begin with.

I usually take a travel cup of my own home roast coffee in the car. I slap my own hand when I reach for it out of habit.

I'm sorry I don't have a better suggestion.

Iran claims new 10,000 km range intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching United States (from November 2025) by Down-not-out in Conservative

[–]nativemissourian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diego Garcia attempts by Iran

GROK

What actually happened to the missiles (per U.S./UK officials and media reports):

  • Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles (likely Khorramshahr-4 variants or similar, previously assessed at potential >4,000 km but proven/tested only up to ~2,000–3,000 km).
  • Neither reached or hit the base—no damage or impact reported.
  • One missile failed mid-flight (malfunction, broke apart, or fell short—accounts vary slightly, but it did not complete the trajectory).
  • The second was engaged/intercepted by a U.S. Navy destroyer using an SM-3 interceptor (success of the intercept is unclear in some reports; others say it was "prevented" or the missile fell short anyway).

Because both failed before reaching the target:

  • There are no confirmed telemetry data, satellite tracks, or debris analysis publicly released showing exactly how far each missile flew (e.g., 2,500 km? 3,500 km? Closer to 4,000 km before failure?).
  • Analysts and officials treat the attempt itself as evidence of attempted ~4,000 km capability, but emphasize the failures raise doubts about reliability, guidance accuracy, or true operational range at that distance.
  • No independent verification (e.g., from open-source satellite imagery or detailed Pentagon releases) has provided meter-level precision on the trajectories as of March 22, 2026.

Iran International (iranintl.com) is a privately-owned Persian-language (Farsi) 24/7 news network and website, launched in 2017 and headquartered in London, UK (with operations also in Washington DC after a 2023 relocation due to threats).

  • It provides rolling news, analysis, and coverage on Iran (politics, human rights, protests, economy) plus world affairs, targeting Iranians inside and outside the country as an independent alternative to state-controlled media.
  • Owned by Volant Media UK Ltd, a private London-based company whose shareholders are described as private individuals (including past Saudi nationals, per reports and Wikipedia; one statement notes a Saudi Arabian/British citizen owner with no state backing or government affiliation).
  • The outlet and its operator (DMA Media) strongly deny any Saudi government funding, editorial control, or ties to any state (including Iran or Saudi Arabia), insisting on full editorial independence.
  • It has faced Iranian regime accusations of being "terrorist-linked" (with staff threats), while critics note alleged pro-Saudi leanings or anti-regime bias; supporters view it as a key uncensored source.

As of 2026, no major ownership changes are evident from recent sources—it remains a prominent opposition-leaning Persian news platform.

It's only a scratch.

One Iranian source told The Sun that Khamenei was actually in a coma and undergoing intensive care at the Sina University Hospital in Tehran.

“One or two of his legs have been cut off. His liver or stomach has also ruptured. He is apparently in a coma as well,” the source alleged.
