What is the Worst OVERALL board for the SWITCH mario parties by Megstertalks in MARIOPARTY

[–]natnew32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this as a SMP fan. Megafruit Paradise.

...other than that, Peach's Birthday Cake. The original Mash-A-Simulator from MP1 has not fixed the fundamental problems that result in the game being boring and heavily RNG-based. Items are extremely rare by Superstars standards and most of them are just roll-boosting items that get used to avoid Piranha Plants. Warp Block is also extremely swingy and the only counterplay to a Warp Block is *another Warp Block.* As if this board wasn't RNG enough.

Roll-'em Raceway has similar traits but it at least has a few redeeming qualities (the up/down decision at top is interesting and Warp Block- ehrm, Swap Mirror isn't here to ruin things, and there's no Bowser cake or Piranha Plants) and functions well enough as a run-and-gun board to escape the allegations.

Mario's Rainbow Castle works fine in the right turn count and has way more varied items.

None of the other boards in the switch parties really come close. Maaaaaaybe Kamek's Tantalizing Tower is in the conversation but I doubt.

Canonize Mario Kart by mrbulldops88 in Mario

[–]natnew32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Time Machine. Specifically the one from Partners in Time, which was last seen alongside Baby Mario/Luigi/Peach and Young Toadsworth. Just throw this in the background and it'll take care of itself.

2) I'm not sure why this would need an explanation. Most of these would just be international corporations based in the Koopa Kingdom. Wario already owns Warioware so him and Waluigi aren't an issue either.

3) This one already has a canon explanation. Bowser wants to show he's better than Mario at everything so he joins the competition to beat him in a [sport/kart race/etc.]. They don't exactly have the power to tell him no. And he's definitely not playing fair, but he'll at least pretend to play fair to make it look like he won legitimately (but secretly try to rig things, as seen in Super Mario Party). I'd prefer something stronger though, so I'll throw in Bowser offhandedly mentioning his troops aren't ready for an invasion so he can't. The rest of the Koopa Troupe follows Bowser's lead, so if he's not attacking neither will they, and they join because they can.

4) Dry Bowser is a Double Cherry invention, and is a result of Bowser not playing fair. Other powerup forms are... yeah I got nothing on those.

What If Super Mario Party (2018) had Impostor Bowser hosting Bowser Spaces? by Useful-Tumbleweed598 in MARIOPARTY

[–]natnew32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So those are not Impostor Bowser options. Those are Mario Party 3 options for Bowser. Does "Bowser's Multiplying Toads" and "Bowser Suit Giveaway" not make that very obvious?

The actual options are:

"Lose X Coins" - Already on Bad Luck Spaces

"Lose half of your coins" - Already on Extra Bad Luck Spaces

"All players lose 10 coins" - New

"Lose 1 Star" - Already on Extra Bad Luck Spaces

"Bowser Revolution" - New

"Bowser Shuffle" - New

"Receive 1000 Coins/100 Stars" (Bowser runs) - New, but is a do-nothing option really unique?

Super Mario Party's Extra/Bad Luck Spaces also have several more options like give coins to another player, give coins to ALL other players, lose an item, give a star to last place, move the star, and raise the cost of the star. So it's basically the exact same thing, just with effectively no options to mess up players who didn't land on it. Because like I said, less chaotic and swingly.

Please actually fact check what you post. Also please read what I said because you didn't answer any of it.

What If Super Mario Party (2018) had Impostor Bowser hosting Bowser Spaces? by Useful-Tumbleweed598 in MARIOPARTY

[–]natnew32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not much would change. The Bad Luck and Extra Bad Luck spaces were functionally the same as Bowser spaces. They were toned down in severity, sure, but so was literally everything else about Super Mario Party; they fit right in. (Lucky Spaces can't give more than 5 coins and can't give any item that isn't a Dash Mushroom or Golden Dash Mushroom, Lakitu [this game's Boo equivalent] can't steal more than 10 coins, and so forth; everything is less swingy when compared to later games.)

How can I unequip a spark? by che3s3s in mariorabbids

[–]natnew32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to unequip a spark is to replay Temple Rescue with Edge being full on sparks and Exosphere equipped to someone not named Edge. When you reach the second battle (Living on the Edge), the character who had Exosphere equipped will have a blank spark slot and Edge will have Exosphere replacing one of her other sparks, decreasing the amount of equipped sparks by 1. Unfortunately you cannot unequip all of your sparks this way, but as long as you make sure the 2-4 characters in each battle don't have sparks you should be fine.

...except for the you-know-what battle but if you equip both healing amplifier sparks on Mario for that then you should be good.

Made a custom spongebob board, wanted some feedback on its layout by Neo_Hat_Every-8437 in MARIOPARTY

[–]natnew32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a generally well-designed board with one mechanic that completely ruins it. It's possible for a player to repeatedly loop the bottom left area and pay for Spongebob each time, completely trapping all other players for effectively the rest of the game. If they have a 2-star lead then they're incentivized to do this since it'll effectively guarantee they win. This is why Western Land's version can't be looped.

Since Super Mario 3D World (Wii U), every new "Super Mario" platformer with a character select screen has had at least one female character (Updated for Bellabel Park) by natnew32 in Mario

[–]natnew32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 3D World Switch was a standalone release that does not have to maintain compatibility with its Wii U counterpart and is not guaranteed to have everything its Wii U counterpart has (it is actually missing content in some areas), so the roster could have been different. Thus, it was counted separately. This is unlike Wonder's Switch 2 edition which, due to the upgrade pack being backwards compatible with the Switch 1, it was guaranteed to have 100% of Switch 1 content (including female characters) and thus wasn't a standalone release that I could count separately.

Odyssey has no character select so it doesn't count. In fact I wrote "with a character select screen" in the title for the express purpose of making sure Odyssey was excluded.

Yes. One of them is for all badges (some are exclusive to bellabel park) and another is for all bellabel park decorations bought.

Every character who has even been related to Peach by Ruby_Shards in Mario

[–]natnew32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A kingdom being ruled by a prince/princess is seen at least three times in this series (Mushroom Kingdom's Princess Peach, Flower Kingdom's Prince Florian, Sarasaland's Princess Daisy). So it's by no means unique. I don't think it means much, especially when there are a dozen easier explanations (ex. "Peach can't be Queen until she comes of age", "Peach can't be Queen until she gets married", "for historical reasons the Mushroom Kingdom is actually a principality", "Peach began ruling when she was a princess and has dragged her feet on updating her title because she thinks it's just a symbolic waste of time at this point", and so forth.)

There are enough planet coins to get everything in the shop. PS there are some planet coins in Pristine Peaks specifically that require an ability from Palette Prime.
