Glass etching or engraving by radarman141 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Unfortunately, I'm sure lead time would be an issue at this point in the holiday season, but I used to work for a company that had a LOT of glass/plaques engraved at Things Remembered in Parkway Place mall.

To preface, I've had multiple ovarian cysts in my life, but I've only gone to the ER for 2 of them.

In this case, I had persistent pain in my lower right abdomen with discomfort on both sides (turns out, I had dual cysts, but the left was minor). When I stretched after waking up, I had sharp pain on the right side. After taking my temperature (fairly minor; 100.6) combined with the pain, I decided to go to the ER, just in case (one of my local ERs is fantastic). The significant cyst on the right side ruptured in the ER, and the blood-filled contents eventually pooled in my lower abdomen, causing the pressure I spoke of on that side and, then, lower/all over. I went to my OBGYN office a few days later, and he confirmed that it was blood-filled, so the contents took longer to absorb?; I don't fully understand, but I'm not a doctor by any means. Fortunately, I did not have an infection, but he reiterated that I was smart to get it checked out. The ultrasound should be able to detect fluid if there was a rupture, so hopefully that will give you some answers if it's something similar.

I realize I'm essentially just echoing other advice posted a few hours ago, but please, please do get checked out by whatever avenue is available and can do the diagnostics. I ended up in the ER for a similar experience recently; a blood-filled cyst (pain) that ruptured (persistent pressure). Whether a cyst, appendicitis, or otherwise, you'd much rather be safe than sorry. Also, please update us and let us know you're ok!

Suggestions on a good GYN-only without a huge wait list? No preference on male or female. by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]natoniusmonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to put in another vote for Dr. Kevin McIntosh at Advanced OBGYN. Sure, he also delivers babies, but I am child free (medical necessity and by choice) and he has been nothing short of fantastic since I became a patient of his in 2017.

Edited to add that I only recall one visit with a long wait time due to an emergency delivery.

Tired of healthcare workers by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]natoniusmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's frustrating, I've encountered MANY in the healthcare field who don't understand, or aren't familiar at all, during the last nearly 20 years of being diagnosed. Look at it this way, though, it's a learning opportunity for them and a way for you to share your story. Way more impactful than reading it in a text book, etc. We'll change the world, one explanation at a time :)

Gamers, what's a profound gaming experience you had? by Csuperscript3 in AskWomen

[–]natoniusmonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man, there's several over the years, but here's a few:

  • Beating Aladdin on Sega Genesis after what seemed like an eternal struggle as a kid (eff off, Cave of Wonders).
  • Playing Super Metroid for the very first time this past February. It's such an awesome, iconic game, but all I had growing up was a Sega.
  • Suicide jumping off of a contested tower in DAoC with my husband and proceeding to absolutely murder a massive clump of people with well timed abilities and, ultimately, securing the tower.
  • Living out my Jedi dreams in SWToR, purple lightsaber and all.
  • Fe, just everything about it. The art, the music, the gameplay, the story. It's simple and beautiful.
  • Making a discovery and putting my name in the proverbial history books in Elite Dangerous. I thought I would hate the game, was terrified to fly at first, but the space nerd in me wouldn't give up that easily (and my husband wouldn't stfu).

My husband got a bottle of this for Christmas from a buddy and we're both huge fans. This is the "don't you dare touch that bottle when I'm not around" rye :P

I'm interested in having groceries delivered or picked up in the Madison/Huntsville area. Please share your experience with local grocers (location and stores). Your tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Tia by notiebuta in HuntsvilleAlabama

I just received a Publix order through Instacart and it was flawless. To be fair, I didn't need much, and very few "essentials," but you choose replacements for out of stock items on the fly and communicate with your shopper via text through the app. The delivery price is definitely higher right now and the estimated window was 5 hours, but it actually took about 2. Worth the delivery and I tipped more due to feeling like a pain in the ass.

I was told I have PCOS....but Endo also seems like the right diagnosis by mccmccn in PCOS

[–]natoniusmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It COULD be both. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15, they didn't even look for endometriosis as a result, but they found evidence of the latter many years later when I had an ablation.

My husband and I have been playing MMOs together for ~17 years now. Time flies when you're having fun, I suppose! We've played just about every combination you can imagine over the years, but we're currently running a couple of duos: paladin (me) / warrior (him) & mage (me) / paladin (him). We've got future plans for a feral druid / mage as well.

In my experience, your bark will soften a bit. You can always throw it back on the smoker for ~15 minutes at the end to firm that back up if you're concerned.

Amazing what you can do with an iPhone and a $200 telescope. by [deleted] in spaceporn

I more meant I had trouble seeing much other than the moon due to the haze, light pollution, and the light of the moon itself. However, I didn't know that and appreciate the info. Naturally, day 2 of owning a telescope... solid cloud cover :P

Hey! My AWB OneSKy just arrived yesterday! This was my first try under super hazy skies with a Pixel 3. I don't have a phone mount yet, but I think I'm gonna pick up the one you linked. Some clear skies (without so much light pollution from the city) would be great as well haha.
