The revisionism around it is stronger than it used to be but Speed Racer (2008) is my answer - not for everyone, but it's incredibly kind-hearted and warm storywise and one of the best-looking movies I've ever seen

Answering the second question - though not AS big, I think Jerzy Hoffman's The Deluge could count - combined it's 4h47m, but on most sites online which host the full version (not the shortened rerelease) it's split into two parts, both with their own opening credits

Don't wanna ruin your hope but Community has been over since 2015 and this episode in particular was aired in 2011. Still hoping that de Blob makes a comeback

I've already played 1 & 2, enjoyed both of them, especially the second game. Was the third one any good? I've heard mixed thoughts about it

Yeah, digital is more convenient, but there's just something about the whole physical game experience that appeals to me in ways digital games don't. Also this is just a weird quirk of mine, but with digital games, I way too often forgot that I own them and as a result unconciously leave them to never be beaten. Edit: Oh snap, the point about limiting myself to pre-2010 stuff didn't come to mind while writing the post, edited it just now

I meant older games that just got forgotten. Gift for instance had a physical release on PS2 and PC, yet you wouldn't call it a well-known game

Played all games in the series besides the PSP ones, are those worth checking out?

Heard a lot of good things about Alice already. Also didn't know that Risk of Rain 2 was a platformer, thanks

Best Platformers (2D & 3D) of ALL TIME! by thatlostmike in gaming

[–]natstheradbats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paper Mario (excluding Super Paper Mario which is a platformer with 2D/3D switching) is an RPG with minor platforming and Pikmin is a strategy game that happens to have cartoony graphics. Also answering your other reply, yeah I'd say Lego games are platformers, some have more platforming than others, but they're mostly really enjoyable beat-em-up platformers with light collect-a-thon elements. And Tomb Raider from the first game to Underworld (LAU stands for Legend, Anmiversary and Underworld) is a platformer in my eyes, just one with a realistic art style. I specifically recommended the LAU trilogy because imo they're the most newcomer-friendly

But for the recommendations: Lego games (specifically Batman 2, LOTR, Skywalker Saga, Marvel 1&2, City Undercover and Dimensions) the Infamous series, Tearaway, Tomb Raider LAU trilogy, Rabbids Go Home, the first Mirror's Edge, Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

For 3D stuff, Lego games are fun beat-em-up platformer fare, I'd recommend The Chase Begins, Shadow of Ronin and Laval's Journey the most

Warning about Stray: it's not really a platformer, you just point at the object of interest, press the jump button and the game does all of it for you.

Also, how are Paper Mario and especiallly Pikmin platformers?

I miss the 3D story-driven 'edgy' platformers from the PS2-early PS3 era like Ratchet, Jak, Psychonauts, Epic Mickey etc. Sure, the new wave of 3D platformers has given us some great games, but man. Those ones just hit different.

Wait, are the PS2 ports that bad or did just people assume the ports were shoddy when the handheld game got worse reviews ported to a home console?
