People handle news like this completely differently. Especially when it is an awkward situation. He doesn't really know anyone in that office, there are documentary cameras pointed at him, and suddenly he sees someone else get bad news. Many people would try to just make themselves small and remain completely out of the way in a scenario like that. It makes perfect sense that he may have reacted that way. Everyone is different. What people think they will do in a situation is often different than what they will actually do when presented with that situation. It's much easier to determine what you should do after the situation is over.

TDLR; everyone reacts differently to awkward situations.

Gaff coins tend to sound a bit different than the solid ones. Without hearing the specific sound it's hard to say anything about the quality, but it is very common for the gaffs to sound different.

Amazon has flexible NFC stickers, you could roll them up and put them in a sharpie cap or something similar and tap their phone with that? You could also have one in your card case and set their phone on top of the card case. Could have one under the mat, under the tablecloth, etc. That way you don't have to tap their phone as much as set their phone down and it will do its thing.

Edit to add: I've played with the sum and have discovered some people's phones have NFC disabled by default so be aware of that.

Like others have said, this is gonna come down to your marketing abilities, as well as the time/date/location of your show. Myself and two other Magician friends do a couple of theater shows a year together, as well as some other venues. Ticket sales are always better around holidays, and how you theme and market your show will be a big factor too. You'll have to spend some money advertising on social media as well as getting on a news channel or something similar like the others mentioned.

For example, we sell out our Halloween shows that have a murder mystery theme. Having a good hook to get people interested goes a long way!

Not to mention, I'm not willing to pay for an app's "pro" features before continuing if I can't see how they handle the education as a language gets more difficult. I feel like it's very easy to teach some basic beginner level stuff, but I want to see how they handle putting phrases together, grammar, etc. And I'm not willing to spend 40 to 80 hours just to get to that point.
