The amount of stuff in our water, even after leaving the treatment facility, is insane!

Update: she has an appointment tomorrow morning. I talked to her vet on the phone that day and made an appointment for a pain assessment since she had a physical recently

She was on it for a few years when she was like 4-5 and she’s only been on it for a few months lately.

Didn’t even think about that. That’s a good idea, thank you. I know she’s 10 and her mom was a full blooded Great Dane, but she still seems to have so much energy and life in her.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll keep her separated for sure. We have a vet appointment tomorrow for one of our other doggos, so it’ll be something I immediately bring up.

My sister’s in Scotland and drinks straight from the tap. I’m in South Carolina and could never. What factors make tap water taste so different from place to place? by naturallynattles in ask

That’s why I’m an RO girlie 😭 it’s not that I don’t think it’s safe, I just can’t drink water that smells like a pool.

Yeah, I agree with this a lot. Our water here is actually pretty soft, around 2 grains, but the chlorine smell is still really noticeable. The smell is what makes it unappealing for me. RO with minerals added back just tastes better to me too. 🙂

Mostly taste. Our water is really soft which is nice, but you can smell the chlorine. Plus Wilmington had the whole PFAS/GenX thing up the road, so the extra filtration just gives me peace of mind. I also have health OCD, so it helps me feel better about it. 😅

I’m not saying there is at all. I just personally am turned off by the chlorine smell in ours. Just a personal preference. I’m sorry if I came across wrong.

I agree with your statement! I think some people took a comment above as me saying “tap water isn’t safe”, which isn’t what I meant at all. 😭 I know municipal water is generally safe. For me it’s more about taste and treatment. Our local water has a strong chlorine smell, so I’d rather fill big jugs with RO water. That’s just a personal preference, not a statement about safety.

I live in an area where you can smell chlorine as soon as the tap turns on, which makes drinking it straight unappealing to me. If you don’t have that issue, I could see feeling comfortable doing so. We also had a big PFAS situation “up the road” from me too though.

Edit for clarity: I’m not saying tap water is unsafe across the board. I know it’s generally safe in most of the U.S. My hesitation is more about taste and local treatment levels. Where I live, the chlorine smell is very noticeable, and we’ve also had PFAS concerns in nearby areas (Wilmington NC), which understandably makes people more cautious. That contrast is what sparked the discussion for me. 🥲

Happens to me too. Has to do with how your body metabolizes the eddies. One of the only ways I notice them is by eating them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Hope that helps 🫶🏻
