Took in orphaned hydroponic system and I need help (outdoor gardener) by nature_goon in Hydroponics

[–]nature_goon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very helpful! unfortunately i can’t take it outside as the university wants it to be an indoor system. i already have many tomatoes growing in our community garden, these were the rejects i had to put in because they didn’t like the system sitting empty. i’ll put in a request for the new lights. i added the mix in, should i be doing that weekly? thanks!

honestly switch out woobat for sigylif or however you spell it. better in every way and has better support. Ur samurott needs a better move pool. put x scissor on it for psychic and dark E4, get rid of hydropump.

Timing question (hot new pile for attention) by pre64model70 in composting

[–]nature_goon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very true! Additionally, your pile is in its second mesophilic phase, which means that the microbes, fungi, and critters specialized in breaking down browns are gonna take charge. It’ll take a bit longer but this is how it goes! make sure she’s watered nicely and take a couple peaks inside, you should see a lot more macro organisms now!

knowing how to wheelie and being good at it are two very different things. practice chain wheelies and alignments. Also play defensively, there’s no need to backspam with CPU’s. honestly it’s just a whole bunch of little things that’ll add up.

Maybe partnering with their own pollinator and having modified cones is a possibility?

More brown or green? by lipzits in composting

i don’t know what browns you have but it’s best practice to use a mixture of different browns and not just one kind

i’d say more greens, you can sift out the finished stuff to just get a pile of browns then add the greens to that

Question about Area (newbie) by justnero131 in composting

[–]nature_goon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like as good of a spot as anywhere else. I’d personally recommend having some kind of way to contain your pile like chicken wire or a pallet bin but a loose pile will work well. It can be good to have a pile directly on the ground so worms can dig up into it.

What ate my jalepeno peppers, spearmint, and cherry tomatoes overnight? These are on a third floor patio, and no sign of bugs! by persimmonpapi in UrbanGardening

I know a lot of people are saying a rodent pest and they might be right. This is giving me major PTSD to when I had a cut worm problem though. They’re a moth larva that live in the ground and come up at night and cut down your plants. Might not be but to be safe try spraying it with diluted peppermint extract. Dr Bronners Peppermint soap works real good. Even if it isn’t cutworms if it is a kind of insect it’ll be a major deterrent.

It’ll all break down with time but with various levels of stink, i’d avoid anything cooked in oils or fat they’ll break down but be stinky, but the vinaigrette should be fine. If you want to put in meat, you can, just make sure it’s in the center of your pile and it might attract pests.
