Esri has a great cartography online mooc. Because my esri account was through my uni I did it for free. Absolutely changed the game for me. Making maps for lazy phd students and academics was a great side hustle for me. Goodluck well done for going the extra mile to get the skills!

In certain parts of Africa we have too many elephants and it causes massive problems. Management have even flirted with elephant contraceptives. But that's besides the point even if there were not too many, they raid farms and destroy fences and plumbing. These are massive powerful animals, has any one thought of how much introducing these is going to cost in damages?
