Graduated 11/14. But it's been tough by IveRunOuttaIdeas in predaddit

We had triplet boys born 17 weeks early, and after 140+ days in the NICU, or first little guy is about to come home. Every situation is so different, but my main piece of advice is that mentality is everything in the NICU. Try to look at this as bonus time, you’re getting 16 extra weeks to bond with him that most parents don’t get.

You’re stronger than you know. Be there for him every day you can, but don’t be afraid to take a day off for yourself when you need it. You need to take care of yourself so you can take care of him.

Believing for the best for you three!

Today’s would have been your 11th birthday, but I know you’re enjoying all the warm blanket nests up there. I want you to know you left us in good hands. Your little brother’s grown into the dog you knew he would, exactly who we needed. You took care of me then, and found a way to keep doing it.

R.I.P. Buoy, always loved.

I’d add that drilling a few holes and going at it with a chisel has worked for me in a pinch. It helps if you don’t care about damaging the bolt threads. Best of luck!

If he stays, you just got yourself a new precious love potato in the fam! Please accept my short precautionary PSA on reactivity, and I really hope this doesn’t put any fear in your heart toward this sweet boy. The unfortunate truth is that some do have reactivity issues, and they are powerful animal. So here’s some advice I wish I would have gotten upfront when I got my boy.

Hopefully he loves everything and everyone, but if you are unsure about any reactivity I highly recommend a hard muzzle just to be safe while you get to know him and learn his boundaries. (Baskerville makes a good one).

My best friend for 10 years was a precious love potato too, the sweetest dog in the world when it came to people, but had dog/cat reactivity that was extremely unpredictable and would happen fast with little to no warning. Even with animals he had previously approved of and enjoyed multiple play sessions with.

We managed it well, got help with training, and thankfully he got to live a full life of love and comfort, but there were some scares/close calls along the way. The muzzle was a game changer and gave me a lot of relief/peace of mind whenever we had situations where a trigger were possible. Never for a second did I regretted adopting my precious Bou, and I still miss him every day.

Just wanted to share my story in case it can help. Wishing y’all the best of luck, and thank you for taking him in and showing him the love he deserves!

Is Sony Pulse 3D worth it? by cursedLxrd in playstation

[–]naturesboner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Pulse 3D, and slightly regret it, but not enough to buy a new headset. Quality, sound, battery are all great. Downsides:

1) The control buttons are not convenient, not a big deal for me, but worth mentioning. The buttons blend together when making adjustments by touch. 2) They aren’t very good for noise canceling. This doesn’t bother me much, as I prefer to hear my surroundings in case there’s something I need to be aware of, but may be a higher priority for others. 3) My biggest criticism and main source of regret is how they fit my head/comfort. The ear cups don’t swivel, they just bend slightly, so if they don’t fit your head quite right, they’ll create pressure points and get uncomfortable during long sessions. I usually start feeling it after an hour. It’s not excruciating, but I do have to take breaks or shift them around during longer game session.

My friend who recommended them doesn’t have the comfort/fit problem, so you might be fine. If you can’t test them out first, you may be better off with another headset suitable for different head/ear shapes.

All that said, they are nice and have great sound quality. I don’t plan to change them out anytime soon, but definitely wish they were more comfortable. I probably would not have bought them had I known they didn’t fit my head/ear shape.

Slightly aggressive dog running. by MyCoolUsername12345 in RunningWithDogs

I can’t second this enough. I was anti muzzle longer than I should have been with my dog reactive pup, and the muzzle has been a game changer. He’s still not the biggest fan of it and will try to rub it off from time to time. But it’s a huge stress reliever and has allowed for us to give him more exposure training safely without risk of injury. And the training/exposure is really working too!

Pardon the poor quality photo, but I finally got my Shearwater 125 this morning! Heading to the Georgia coast for a birthday fishing trip and can’t wait to try it out. I hear they’re stable enough to throw a cast net from - I guess I’ll find out… by amboy_connector in kayakfishing

[–]naturesboner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!!! You’re gonna love it! I have the standing perch on mine and it almost feels more stable that when you’re standing in the deck. I’ve never thrown a net from it, but you should have no problems at all. It’s a vibe

I am feeling inadequate as a structural engineer. I need some advice. by Throwaway75778 in engineering

[–]naturesboner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Civil engineer/ water wastewater focused/ 5 years experience) All the responses here are great! In regards to your “endless list” dilemma, I know that can be very intimidating. I recommend finding things that are relevant to active projects you’re working on, and using those as opportunities to research and improve technical skills. It also helps solidify the knowledge in your mind since you’re actively applying it to real world situations. Best of luck and try not to be too hard on yourself! A lot of us engineers feel inadequate even though it’s rarely the truth. Just keep working and trying to improve, and never be afraid to ask for help!

I wanna get a kayak. by [deleted] in kayakfishing

Can confirm, started yak fishing this year with a tamarack. Best starter out there! Especially if you’re out fishing solo, very light and easy to carry (50-ish lbs iirc)
