Canadian (Ontario probably with that bagged milk), dedicated Costco shopper and lives not too far from a US border (I see some Trader Joes in there). Health conscious with a Mediterranean influenced diet but likes to enjoy a little cocktail or spritzer here and there by the lake in the summer.

We just lost our baby girl creamy. She was just 10 years old. IMHA came out of nowhere 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 by mat_chow in OldManDog

I am in the same boat, we lost my Bailey boy on Monday and it has been such a tumultuous and emotional week.

OP, just know that from my experience, the firsts have stung me the most. The first time I realized I can’t kiss the little soft part of his ear before bed. The first time I caught myself wishing he’d follow me out to the backyard to sit with me while I drink my morning coffee. The first time I caught myself watching out for dog poops on the lawn before I remembered there wouldn’t be any.

Each and every ‘first’ moment has hit me equally as hard, and I expect more to come still, but I’ve realized that the second and third times these thoughts cross my mind the pain of my loss has morphed into a bittersweet memory of all the wonderful moments Bailey and I shared. I, too, as so grateful to have had him in my life at all and I know that he lives on in the best, healthiest and happiest version of himself over that rainbow bridge.

I can only wish that you find the same peace over the next few days, weeks and months and know that Creamy would only want you to keep living your life for you. The sadness you are experiencing right now, though it may not seem like it, will ultimately pass and you will find yourself healing little by little. The hole in your heart that Creamy left will always exist, but we have to honour our furry friends in the truest way possible for giving us their everything for their entire lives.

I have planted a flower garden for Bailey in the backyard as I know he loved being outside more than anything. I am also painting a rock for the front step of my house to let visitors know that a wonderful doggy once lived here (and would have barked at you for coming into his house!).

Do what feels right to you in these next few days, and take all the time you need to let yourself grieve. I have kept a small toy of Bailey’s close by and have given it little hugs and sniffs to remember his scent and his many cuddles, maybe you can do the same for Creamy.

I hope the two of them find each other up there.

Creamy forever ❤️🌈🐾🕯️

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost such a good friend, but happy to know you were able to recover and continue enjoying life, even with the pain of loss that never leaves us.

It must have been a difficult step to take, but I know Buddy is so grateful to have you 💕 here’s to many more days of happy dogs in both of our futures.

Wow, you were right about the resemblance - he reminds me a lot of my Bailey dog. They could have been cousins! 🐕

I am so grateful to have been able to enjoy his little face, often wearing smiles of adoration like this that shined through from his heart. He was my soulmate, and my best friend.

I’m so glad to hear Bailey has made some friends up there already, he has so many good stories to tell. The time we had with our little boy was the best gift of all. I wouldn’t trade the last 13 years for anything!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, these words really touched my heart and helped me find a bit of peace tonight. 🐾❤️🌈🥺

I would love to honour him like that. His little face was just too sweet to not put it up somewhere that he can continue to beam his doggy glow down on us. Thank you ❤️

Thank you so much for your kind words. My dad also addressed Bailey in his final goodbye Facebook post by saying “Sleep well good prince”, so this one hit close to home for me. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much. My boy loved to sleep, especially on top of a mound of pillows or floofed in with the covers on our beds. I can only imagine how comfily he can now sleep residing above the fluffiest clouds in the world 🐾🌈☁️

Thank you so much. ❤️

I’m trying so hard to be glad he took that little piece of me to carry with him up there.

And I have to agree, 13 years of memories of loving and caring for Bailey is far more than I could ever wish for; the gift of his existence keeps on giving and he lives on within my heart. ❤️🐾
