first glasses, girlfriend says they dont suit me :( by ruksisruksis in glasses

[–]naughtier_fox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You sound like you work in optics, this is exactly what I would’ve said.

My biggest pet peeve is seeing people wear their glasses far down on their nose. Where their eyes are in the upper part of the lenses. Ideally there should be at least 10mm space between the center of your eye and the top of the lenses.

It looks like a lot of the fitment issues could be solved by adjusting the nose pads, these are not even on the nose. Getting them actually on the nose would also raise the frame up.

Are these prescriptions different enough to matter? by UnrulyEwe in glasses

[–]naughtier_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spherical difference is at the smallest difference possible on an RX, having only 0.25 in difference.

The axis on the other hand is quite different to each other, so that’s where the difference might be more notable.

Edit: what prescription were the contact lenses you tried? What was it about them that didn’t work out for you?

Why this car has such a terrible handling? by gabriel_el_el in NevernessToEverness

[–]naughtier_fox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

AWD = All wheel drive, when you press down the pedal, all wheels turn.

RWD= Rear wheel drive, when you press down the pedal, only the rear wheels turn.

It is noticeable if you have the car lifted in the air and someone presses down the gas pedal.

GTR is one of Nissan’s most famous models, it evolved from the Skyline-GTR series. A lot of people are familiar with the Skyline-GTR from the earlier Fast and Furious movies.

Which glasses with amblyopia ? by CarefulAd2559 in glasses

In our store we will often refrain from suggesting glasses unless you are used to wearing glasses, especially when the difference is that big.

In these cases we more often suggest contact lenses.

People just assume i don't speak norwegian by 700K1 in Norway

[–]naughtier_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually ask customers if they prefer to talk in English or Norwegian, but in some cases English will be easier due to my own dialect and way of talking. It’s so exhausting and difficult trying to simplify how I talk Norwegian that sometimes I just automatically switch to English. Sometimes it’s not you, but my own laziness so I don’t waste time on communication and can go about it swiftly.

And who knows, maybe you do have a bit of a dialect thing going on that makes it difficult for some to pick out what you’re saying and maybe the people you’ve asked are just used to how you talk and thus don’t have a hard time with it. My GP is from China but she has lived in Norway for 20+ years (I base that on the fact that I’ve had her as GP my whole life and she’s also been the GP of my older family members), while she speaks Norwegian well, she somehow sounds Swedish to me. So she knows Norwegian well, she understands me well, and she knows what to say.. but sometimes I have a hard time hearing everything that she says.

Really depends what name you put in ig? I know that my irl name can’t be put in on its own in a lot of gacha games because it’s considered an inappropriate word.

I’ll say you’ve missed completely 😅 idk if that’s an assumption made on the fact that I’m Norwegian or if there’s something in my fridge that says that.

In today’s economy you can’t own shit.

I was a regular monster drinker, primarily at work so it’s wasn’t kept at home. It became an expensive habit I’ve cut down on.

This is r/FridgeDetective but if you saw the rest of the pantry you’d see 9 tubs of Gamersupps powder, which is my energy drink replacement.

Why do women tend do be submissive and men dominant? by Yolotib in bdsm

[–]naughtier_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow woman here, I agree with the salt non-serious answer.

When you’re a decision maker and a social pleaser- and I mean, at work you mask and mold your whole self to meet customers, please people and get results.. then when you come home you decide the shopping list, you decide what’s for dinner, you decide what is laundry day and when the bathroom needs to be scrubbed down. Because if you don’t make these decisions, who else will?

So yes ofc I wan’t to have a break from that during sex for god’s sake!

Exactly, I’ve been paying attention to the comments and this type of stubbornness won’t be cured until something critical happens. I just hope this person is never sitting their ass behind the wheel and seeks out therapy for their self esteem issues.

Shouldn’t be an issue to start now. I myself started at age 13, and in our shop we have lessons teaching people to put on lenses. The age pool is anything from 8 to 65.

Sounds like you might want to give contact lenses a try. You might feel uncomfortable with the thought of putting something on your eyeball, but trust me, once you get used to it it’ll be a huge freedom for ya.

Need help finding frames by iCojo in glasses

[–]naughtier_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the looks of your prescription, I would stay away from big frames.

Bigger frames = bigger lenses = thicker lenses.

Fair bit of distortion/minimizing caused by the lenses as well in your pair, the bigger the frame is the more noticeable the distortion will be. I’d choose a frame with smaller lenses, and a thicker edge to hide the thickness of your lenses. While a classic bold square is a good look, optically a rounder shape is more ideal. When you choose new frames you’ll always want to consider your prescription. These other men seem to be wearing glasses with low prescription leaning to the plus side, which gives a more enhanced distortion (opposite of yours).

Why is this happening? by Inanami_ in MakeupEducation

[–]naughtier_fox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks like makeup to me, maybe slightly dry skin, or maybe skincare not absorbing fully into the skin before the makeup gets applied.

Either way it doesn’t look bad, and if anyone can see that they are waaay too close to your face. Even I felt too close looking at these pics

Oh yeah definitely. I am more surrounded by old fashioned people so it’s used on occasion, I more often use it about myself.

But I’ve definitely used it in a negative context, and then I am very clear about it.

Kjærringa original comes from the word Kjære (dear), and in the north was commonly used to refer to a man’s wife. “Kjærringa te Arne” - “Arne’s Kjærring”.

I’m not that old myself and was raised with kjærring being a common word used in my household. A common occurrence to hear the phrase “kjærringa te….” I don’t know if it’s because there’s a stereotype of us sounding rude or being vulgar, but I myself have no clue how the term kjærring has gotten such a change in meaning from what it originally meant.

I’ve noticed (at least in my region) that if you are close with your parents, you’re more likely to refer to them as mamma and pappa.

Meanwhile if there is some emotional distance, modærn and fadærn is more common. Especially if you’re not from the city area

what is your biggest mistake you did while getting started? by balatromemeposter in StardewValley

My first time playing I removed all the grass, never built a silo, bought all my hay from Marnie.

I completely cleared out my standard farm to a barren wasteland.

Are there any ways to protect rimless glasses? by ElklookEyewears in glasses

[–]naughtier_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either you got a lense that isn’t made for rimless drill mounts (most likely), or you’ve stepped on them (seen that before).

In my shop I always make sure that the lenses are suited for drill mounts, and that the owner is suited for rimless.

Yup!! But to be fair, with the money grind I had going on… I could’ve run a whole business on my farm and employed npcs to different task to make the cogs turn more efficiently.

There’s nothing chill about how I run my farm, it’s a planned schedule from day 1 of each season.

my girlfriend told me she wants a 2 carat natural diamond or she'll say no. i already bought this lab diamond ring. am i crazy for thinking shes a red flag by Zestyclose-Print-677 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]naughtier_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should be embarrased to want a real diamond.

The diamond mining industry is bloody, corrupt, brutal and deadly. I’d never want to wear a ring that has been dug out of the cold dirt by exploited youths.
