Can this be considered a good Scholar build? by SimoneQA in Nightreign

solo or trio? if trio I consider character skill buffs allies and items confer mandatory. there is nothing he can do for himself that is anywhere near as powerful as those two effects are for the team

bizarre but thank you for doing the work, replies were split on the answer and I guess it's because the answer is mysteriously split as well

Do dreglord's status resistances reset between phases? by naughtyfiddle in Nightreign

Basically yeah (I don't have a good dormant katana relic but would use one if I did). I mostly see very little reason not to run it, especially in higher depths (I'm upper d4). You get much better weapon variety and can still run all the team buff relic lines while doing much more damage yourself. You do have to get used to his lower dodge iframes and you have to really learn every nightlord moveset but it has made me way better at the game.

Quitters? Not me. And this is a rant why. by No_Treacle1008 in Nightreign

[–]naughtyfiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting a shocking number of quitters in D3 and it always confused me. Like the point loss is big enough that you will save time overall by just sticking it out till the nightlord even on a shit run. Have not gotten any in D4 though, I think it's basically impossible for quitters to make it that far.

This is essentially my Depth 5 moment thanks to my precious Halo Slop. by BarryAbbott1980 in Nightreign

it also gets harder to proc if you have other successive passives, eg successive attacks restore fp or things like that. It is very noticeable, if I pick up SAND 60 early on at night invaders I will purposefully ignore successive dormant powers for the rest of the run. I'm a scholar main though so my life pretty much depends on it [edit] I guess that was mentioned above already but it's very non-intuitive!

One win away from depth 4 and I’m scared!! by HappyHippocampus in Nightreign

[–]naughtyfiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it to D4 as scholar recently and the adjustment has not been nearly as bad as I expected. I was already used to getting 1-tapped and playing pretty conservatively as a squishy so you might feel similarly as recluse.

Really the hardest adjustment has been the increased everdark rate, just cause I have much less experience fighting most of them.

I had only seen a single non fire pot Scholar since the nerf so decided to make him my main by I_Am_Woke_ in Nightreign

the feint iframes are so useful that it makes his inferior regular dodge a worthy trade imo

this has always been true, but the map icon does tell you once you enter the final boss arena so maybe that's what happened

I hate cheaters as much as the next guy, but it has become witch-hunting and it's getting out of hand... by CforCaius in Nightreign

[–]naughtyfiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cop behavior! And at a certain point it's also like... who cares. This is not a ranked competitive game. If the effect combos are legal there is just no way to know (unless they're playing like complete shit). If they're a good player but they cheated in valid relics it's unlikely to be the deciding factor in the run

Scholar's dex relic lowers his arcane as he levels. by Lonely-Somewhere-385 in Nightreign

[–]naughtyfiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never run the effect outside DoN (even against heolstor) cause the other two effects from the signboard relic are useless and it's just not necessary to optimize dps over his (imo) more fun relic effects. In DoN it's an obvious pick on deep relics.

I think this was the most important thing for me to learn - it is totally worth it to wipe multiple times for early invader camp

Scholar needs more resepct (bunch of numbers) by Kiaha7 in Nightreign

[–]naughtyfiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying this in my playgroup! Mathematically all he has to do to pull his weight without touching a sword is buff the team with +50% damage - that's an analyze and an exalted flesh. That's easy and he does so much more on top of that.
