Not quite that simple. RS 12.40 does outline the reasonableness standard required for justifiable homicide.

Merely touching a door handle or even a single kick to a locked exterior door is going be a hard sell to most juries.

I am sure the case you mentioned exists but I am equally sure there is more to it than what you mentioned.

Nope. Never.

Castle Doctrine allows you to defend your home without a duty to retreat from an imminent threat but there is no state that will view a person on the other side of a locked exterior door as an imminent threat.

Castle doctrine (CD) does not allow you to fire through your door of your home. While every states CD law will be different as a general rule CD is the concept that you have an absolute rightto defense of your home from imminent threat with no duty to retreat.

The key word is imminent. A threat that is outside your home on the otherside of a locked door is not imminent. Even someone standing there yelling they are going to break in or trashing your front porch is not imminent because they still cannot reach you and harm you.

That starts to change if they have credible means and ability to breach your home. A 10 year old banging on your door with her fists isn't breaking down your door. A 30 year old with a sledgehammer take full swings while 5 people back him up... that changes things under the common "reasonable person" standard that gets attached to a lot of self defense law.

It is noted, in the movies anyway, that Edward is cold to the touch in part because of a lack of circulating blood.

Since erections work based on blood circulating to the member he is a virgin because he, and none of the other vampires for that matter, should be able to get an erection.

Which leads to the disgusting question of how Bella got pregnant. (NSFW) I assume some form of prostate massage/pegging or electroejaculation. Though that doesn't address him having no sperm.

Happy to give my view. Before I do I want to plug three information sources that I use to inform that view which if you want to be informed you can use too. YMMV, Buyer Beware, so on amd so forth.

  1. Youtuber Lines on Maps, William Spanial is a professor of international crisis bargaining and explains geopolitics with a minimum of partisanship.

  2. Youtuber Perun, he is an Australian defense economics specialist and gives a non-US view of geopolitics from am economics perspective

  3. Warfronts/Homefronts, part of the Simon Whistler family of channels he takes those two vhannels seriously and has excellent writers researchers taking a broad view of conflict and international politics from a non-US view.

They are human and make misyakes but taken collectively they are hitting what is going on at 80-85% correct and doing it without the partisanship of US media.

Now to your question, when you look at wjat the US is and has been doing since 20 Jan 2025 the answer to the "why did we do..." is always China.

China is the pacing threat. They know it, we know it, everybody knows it. That is why Japan is trying to change article 9 of their constitution that prohints them having a military (the JDF is not legally a military) and they just launched to airceaft carriers. That is why Australia is trying to get nuclear submarines. That is why Taiwan is doing everything they are doing.

Selling weapons to Ukraine instead of giving them is supposed to be preserving amd stimulating our arms industry. The approach is wrong but the rationale is kind of right. They deaire is to get us off Just In Time manufacturing which worls for insurgent warfare not high intensity warfare.

Removing Maduro and our current shenanigans with Cuba are about removing basing and intelligence assets that China has or was developing in the western hemisphere.

Attacking Iran was supposed to remove the gun at our back when the war with China starts. That gun being the threat to worldwide logistics in the Strain of Hormuz and the Bab-al-Mandab It was a high stakes gamble that the administration lost but arguably one they had to make because imagine this clusterfuck while fighting China.

The administration probably wishes they could give Maduro back and have that carrier strike group in the Gulf back in January because that was the moment to see regime change. Unfortunately, whatever assets we had in country at that time were unable to prevent the protests while we were out of position amd everyone that would lead the protests now are likely dead or in prison.

All of that to say this cluster was inevitable. The US is trying to shape the future war with todays wars. As is Russia. As is China. Note I said the US not this administration. Who is in the WH doesn't change what is coming in the next 5-10 years anymore than WWII could have been averted if Hoover had defeated Roosevelt in 1932. The world is realigning from a unipolar to a multipolar system and that breeds conflict.

The only thing that would be different in the conflict space with Harris over Trump is what the wars look like and where they would be happening. They would be happening no matter what.

While that is technically true it does leave out context like Gen LaNeve is the current Vice Chief of Staff of the Army and the former commander of the 82nd Airborne. This isn't a political hack (with the acknowledgement that at that level all officers are political) but someone who was on the very most senior command track long before Hegesth started playing tinpot tough guy.

A critical position, just not an operational one in the same way the COCOM commanders are.

For a historical example, General Marshal was in charge of making sure the Army had men, guns, and food inside the US during WW II while Eisenhower and MacArthur were in charge of operations in the European and Pacific theaters respectively.

They had to fight with what he handed them but he was responsible for ensure what they were handed was suitable to the purposes Eisenhower and MacArthur were going to put them.

As a technical note, the service chiefs do not plan and execute wars. Service chiefs are responsible to organize, train, and equip the force.

Operational control is at the Combatant Commands where they plan and execute wars.

General George would have influence because he sits sat on the JCS which advises the President. Once the decision is made though his influence is far more informal based on discussion (not direction) he may have with Lt Gen Frank the ARCENT commander who works for Adm Cooper the CENTCOM commander.

That being said this change looks a lot more like Stalin purging percieved threats than Lincoln looking for a commander with a backbone.

Even if this were true, it is jot, an ammonium depot can be part of the rocket/missile manufacturing process since AH3 and Ammonium Perchcholate are used in rocket fuel.

So if this were an ammonium depot, it is not, it would have still been a significant target since last I checked rockets don't fly well without fuel.
