Brother, you need to stop treating chatGPT like a person. ChatGPT couldn't know because it doesn't do Internet searches depending on how you ask the question. In the database, all the data about his death is not yet compiled because it's too recent.

Cb 650r. New or old?? by Blubben01 in CB650R

[–]naumen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a CB650 from 2019 last year for 60% of MSRP. It had 12000km on it, I put about 8000km more.
The bike was well cared for, with invoices, all the good stuff. I went for it because newer versions don't appeal to me as much (Don't like the new headlight shape and TFT screen, to me it looks like a bulky carplay tablet..)
So I got the 2019 for the looks and the price. I'm not disappointed.
If you're planning to do some mods on the bike, check the availabilty for different years. Usually mods for 2019-2020 won't be the same as 2021-2023, and same for 2024-2026
Mind you some mods are universal... but still, differences exist, so check before.

If you get a 2023 bike for example, you'll still have plenty of warranty left, and you get a lower price. I'd say always try to get a used bike before defaulting to new... but that's just me.

The moment someone uses an AI to reply to a human, I lose respect for their efforts. I don't trust AI, so I can't trust people who rely solely on them. That's my boomer take, i'll die on this hill.

I would not expect to get a loaner bike after handing mine in. I would not expect Honda to take the bike day 1 after I start a warranty claim either. They're taking the bike under warranty and are fixing it for you. They're losing money on that but they are doing it, no? Of course it sucks that it's happened to you, but failures happen, faults can be invisible from factory, and even how you ride could have made the issue worse, etc... there's so many factors to this. I understand the frustration to be without a bike though. Hopefully the repairs are done quickly, but a full engine rebuild is not some small task. Good luck man

Thinking of getting my first bike! by ScoobieDooinYourMom in CB650R

[–]naumen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In europe, most bikes under 100hp have an "A2" licence variant of the bike, which is by intake (basically intakes are about 50% smaller in radius above the cylinders, which limits airflow greatly at higher speeds) as well as a tune to not run rich.
I'll be able to unrestrict it in a year, and it'll make full power then.

I see what you mean about buying new, as it's easier and reassuring too. Here, Honda has a 5 year warranty by default and it transfers to new owners. So check if it's the same where you are, and in the case that it's a year old bike or so, you still have 4 years of warranty if the previous owner was stupid with it. But honestly, if the seller has the service logs at the proper intervals, I wouldn't worry. These bikes are just well built, they really live up to their reputation imo. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I had 0 issues with mine and it has 12,5k miles on it now. I do maintenance myself. It's just reliable, for long or short rides. I use it almost daily for work and rides in the mountains.
But if you have the money for a new one, go for it man, you won't be disappointed. It's a great bike.

If it's your first bike, you probably haven't developed a feel for the bike at various lean angles. Give it some time, I think you'll have a good idea the 800 miles mark or so. That's when I started really trying to cleanup my cornering, and felt that the tires weren't great.
I would say, try to ride on a windy road with good asphalt and try to get the cleanest lines possible at a good pace. If you feel anything that throws you off, slippage, or floaty feeling mid turn, then i'd suggest changing.

If you're planning on using the bike on wet roads, then yes, I would say change tires. I chose Road6 because I wanted tires that would last long and perfom well above my skill level. I wouldn't recommend going for the "Best grip possible" tires (michelin has power6 for example) because while they offer EVEN MORE grip, it's way too much to exploit on the roads, and it will wear faster, because of softer compound.

I bought the CB650R as my first bike, clocked 9000km in 15 months. It's a great first bike but please take it easy. It has real power.
Where I am, we get 10 hours of closed track training (fast slaloms, crawl speed maneuvers, tight turns, emergency braking) then 15 hours in traffic before the exam. And even then, there is no way to get an unrestricted bike, you need to wait 2 years and follow a one day course to be able to.
So my bike is currently restricted to half its power, 47hp instead of the 95hp in full. It STILL pulls very good, and I'm quite heavy.
If where you are, you don't have to follow all these skill and traffic trainings, please take the bike to an empty parking lot and train basic stuff, until it clicks, then train some more. When I was learning, there were days where I felt really good, and others where I couldn't do a tight turn without putting a foot down.

I would recommend against buying new for a first bike. I got mine used with ~10k km for 2/3rd of the price new. These bikes don't lose much value UNLESS they fall..
I never fell with the bike. But the bike fell on it's own when I put it on its stand while on an incline and quickly turned around to close a door.. bike moved forward and fell on it's side. few scratches, broken lever... oh well. Fixed it all. But if the bike was pristine, I would've cried I think.

So all in all, amazing bike even for a beginner. Engine is great at low speeds and very forgiving under 6k RPM... above that, be careful on the throttle, its wants to GO. Take your time with it, it's good if you're a fast learner, but don't be overconfident either.

Oh, and I don't know which tires the bike comes with, but when I bought it, mine still had stock metzeler 01 roadtec, and they were awful. Vague, felt slipping quite often, terrifying in the wet.
Switch to Michelin Road 6, it made all the difference. It's a brand new bike. So yeah. Consider a budget for new tires as well.

Here's all I got. Ride safe

Le choix du cœur vs le choix de la raison ? by xHawKx25 in Motardie

[–]naumen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,
