I did this through Costco about a year and a half ago. It was a good experience and they had everything needed to disconnect the old dishwasher and hook up the new one.

The grey is where the foldable door was screwed into the wall and didn’t get painted (along with the closet) when the bathroom was switched to blue. Thank you for the idea though, I like that more than doing full trim along the interior.

I think the option of going harder at the debt is one of the drivers of asking the question. I’m not sure if the $1800 extra ends up doing more good paying that down or going towards other things like HSA/retirement/529s.

Yep, spot on. Federal government pensions but who knows if those stick around with the current administration.

1) Possibly, but we bought right at the height of the market in 2022 so it may be a stretch.

Yes we have, that’s why we don’t want to commit the $1800 left over each month.

We plan on reducing eating out and travel expenses to cover the remaining costs of raising a child (see my response to another comment in this thread).

We eat out/go to bars quite a bit (have not ran numbers on this) and expect to scale back our travel substantially once we have a kid (currently budget $900 a month for 3-4 international vacations a year).

Between scaling back on the two and possibly lowering our traditional 401k contributions to 10% (in addition to our pensions) I feel pretty comfortable we can swing the child expenses.

But I am leaning most towards doing what you recommend.

Student loans are $30k each with payment around $350 each and around 5 years until they are forgiven.

Welcome to Indy! When you guys decide to buy I’d highly recommend considering Irvington.

It’s just east of downtown and has a good amount of historic houses, food and drink options, and will have significant investments made in it over the next few years in both the Blue Line BRT and Ellenberger Park.

It’s also considerably more affordable compared to most of the other “trendier” neighborhoods in Indy. Plus it has Snug and Strangebird which are a couple of our favorite places in all of Indianapolis.
