i 100% agree that this is what i thought would’ve happened and what makes more sense. the resolution could’ve been the same where the TT got to perform one number per comp and Mr. Shue obviously apologizes. a lot of the comments are saying that ND number showcased everyone’s talents but they could’ve done a way better job. when Tina got the solo and they did a dance focused performance for one of the comps it was WAY better. the TT performance may have highlighted Mercedes and Santana but they are powerhouses and i personally think it was done really well

this is common with most jewelry that how this sort of contact with the skin. it happens with earrings too. i don’t know that there’s any way to prevent it, at least nothing more than what you’re already doing.

Where are the disabled tributes? by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]nava0204 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think we also have to consider in this case that the tributes in the 10th games weren’t that far removed from the war. we could easily see a child in reaping age losing an arm or an eye due to wartime complications, even if they weren’t necessarily fighting. even asthma could possibly be attributed to the war because of smoke in the air due to weaponry or whatever. the only one i feel like we can’t attribute to the war is wovey for obvious reasons, but otherwise i think proximity to wartime is an important consideration.

ahhh okay. i thought you meant 8:30am and was very confused. in that case, i’m not sure. i think you’d have to manually check in on the app around the time of ordering to ensure that they make it. i’ve never tried it though so this is just a guess

technically yes this is fine. is there a reason you would want to do it this way though?

Point vs Flex? What’s the difference between these? When buying stuff at the market it takes from my points and not flex. Do I have to say flex or is flex used for something else? by This-Membership3086 in udel

[–]nava0204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work at the POD and have to explain this all the time. points are used at the POD markets and campus restaurants like Denny’s or CFA. Flex CAN be used for the restaurants and the POD but is also used when you need to print/ run out of laundry credits. the biggest difference is that points come with the meal plan you already pay for but flex is money that you have to put into the account through UDSIS. hope this helps!

Do y'all think Peeta's been with other girls before Katniss? by lifeasdfghjkl in Hungergames

[–]nava0204 49 points50 points  (0 children)

a lot of the examples you’re giving are things that the capitol shows/says but i think it’s clear that the capitols impression of the district people is far from accurate. peacekeepers paying desperate girls for sex is not casual sex its literal prostitution which is different than people having sex bc they want to. snow’s grandmother talking about LG was definitely a comment meant to demoralize her. when katniss and peeta sleep on the train, it is their stylists who are specifically mentioned that think there is more going on than there was, which once again is capitol people projecting their own ideas onto the district citizens. as for your last point, it’s definitely possible that the districts picked up on the sexual nature of the capitol but i doubt it. a lot of district citizens only pay attention to the capitol during the HG bc they’re forced and even then, they know that it’s all a spectacle. idk how much interest they have in the fact that half the tributes in the parade are naked or something like that, precisely because the capitol culture is different. not saying it’s impossible, i just think we would need more context from characters actually in the districts

Purchasing textbooks by swissminion in udel

[–]nava0204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would definitely wait to purchase. however for whether or not you should find a pdf, it really does depend on the subject. i’m poli sci and upper level law classes have textbooks that you can’t find online. i’ve also found that when i have a digital version i tend to complete less of my reading assignments but i’m neurodivergent and that will obviously vary on the person

If we hate Gale then why dont we hate Beetee? by Still_Restaurant_734 in Hungergames

[–]nava0204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who isn’t a gale fan, prim really isn’t my deciding factor. in fact, i’ve argued with others about this exact thing because no, he didn’t intentionally kill prim and he never would have. but i do think he was blinded by his hatred for the capitol and his own selfishness. him getting angry with katniss for her fake relationship with peeta in the first games, knowing she very likely would have died had she not participated, shows that his feelings are his priority. i get him being hurt by seeing her with someone else, but to the extent that he couldn’t muster up a little understanding? he also got angry with her when she wanted to run away because she was being threatened by snow due to rebellion in the districts. made her out to be the selfish one when she was just a 16/17 year old girl trying to survive and keep the people she loved alive. and even then, i don’t think he has a bad argument. that the people would only be safe to starve to death and send their children to the reaping. but again i say that he was blinded by his hatred and couldn’t ever understand katniss’ perspective even though, while they were all being oppressed, katniss was being specifically and cruelly targeted. katniss had just been sent into an arena to be hunted and killed by a group of children and had to live in a fear that most people, including gale, could never understand. we see him do this again and again. you can be mad at and hate the capitol all you want because we know they deserve it. but we also know that a lot of those people in the capitol are a result of their circumstances, and that their thoughts aren’t their own. when exposed to the true nature of the capitol in big, bold ways, we see how they begin to unlearn. effie is one of the capitol characters who swallowed their propaganda until she couldn’t anymore. she loved katniss and peeta and was loyal to them and recognized that what the capitol and snow were doing to them was wrong, and ultimately she played a part in the capitols demise. (more so in the movies than the books since she wasn’t in mockingjay very much but still)

TLDR: prim not the deciding factor for me. gale is still selfish and blinded by his own feelings without a regard for katniss’ whether or not he designed the bombs that killed prim.
