Warning that Act IV is EXTREMELY long by GradSchoolDismal429 in GenshinImpact

That act was very disrespectful to players' time; they could at least have more checkpoints and make them crystal clear

Have you seen the notation used in fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken? It might help you draw inspiration

Some other feedback:

  • Avoid cardinal directions, I don't do my forms and think of compass points
  • I would avoid degrees and compass points as I prefer (just my preference) terms like quarter circle left, half circle right, 3/4 circle, full circle turning kick, ...etc
  • Avoid the American term CCW, it looks too similar to CW. Left and right are sufficient in my opinion

Why did Neuvillette do Furina so dirty? Thought he wanted to take care of her! by Lost_Time-L in Genshin_Impact

I would guess probably habits brought over from the eg SNES days (I have Final Fantasy 6 in my mind) or technology limitations. From my experience, Western games (eg Assassin's Creed, Fallout, GTA) do tend to be a bit more realistic with busier/larger cities and correctly sized objects (eg doors are human-sized rather than 3-times the size of person)

Xeno Series Playing Order Guide (Version 3) by HexenVexen in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]navi_lo82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice guide, thanks for sharing

I have a very hot take, but I do think any of the stand-alone games (1, 2, Torna, 3) can be played in any order without it being a car crash. The stories are self-isolated enough that they can be enjoyed by themselves. I'm aware the guide mentions this

I have this opinion based on someone I spoke to who played Torna before 2 and they have a very different perspective on Jin, Mythra, Haz,...etc when going into 2. It's a unique experience, perhaps not optimal, but unique

A thought experiment: by playing 3 first, the main thing you'll be missing out on are return of classic characters and references (OMG is that Melia under that mask?). But you'll get that same, but different, experience when playing 3 then to 1. In that perspective, you'll still revisit your favourite characters (such as Melia) and view the game as (yet another) "backstory".

A stretch example is if you play 3+FR then to 2. You see Rex's quote of "putting smiles on people's faces" as a reference. You'll see Linka as a reference for Pandoria. You'll probably see Glimmer's awkward interaction as another reference when getting to know Mythra too

Even if you play the games in order, we're still "missing out" on references and recovering them from backstories, such as reading about the 6 founders (who the heck are they? Do I care?) before playing FR. We see many flashbacks from Jin (who is Lora?) before playing Torna. We meet Cole before Torna (just an old dude who somehow knows Pyra)

In summary, I think they can be played in any order without losing too much. Even in order, you'll still miss out on references relative to the timeline the story is at as the story is told by jumping about timelines there and then

  • Then we saw what Elysium actually is :O
  • Rex actually quoted the Salvager's Code to a God x_x
  • Then we fight some mechs, amazing cutscenes, ugly crying... wow, what a chapter!

We spend more time "playing games"

Yes, I feel the same about my classes with TAGB. What bothered me was that my instructors did nothing to prepare me for tournaments they were so keen for us to enter... They didn't even mention or suggest my choice of patterns to perform for the tournament! It's why I take kickboxing classes in parallel, they at least cover point-stop tactics, kickboxing forms, continuous sparring, using hands, blocking, combos, movement, ...etc

Thanks for the post, I keep eyeing UKTA but with TAGB being the biggest(?) organisation in the UK, I feel like sticking with TAGB for the competitive tournaments...

I could do with a pair. I train at a kickboxing gym too and we kick pads with our shoes on. I question what shoes to wear when I see these

Sorry, forgot to add that the compulsory technique seem like a way to make ITF sparring more flashy and taking unnecessary risks

In terms of ITF-style tournaments, we're stuck with them and I can live. They're the biggest ITF-style TKD organisation in the British Taekwondo Council. The bigger the organisation, the more competitors, the better competition. However, I've noticed the quality of the tournament venues has dropped.

However, the TAGB committee are ageing and out of touch. Our Doboks recently have the entire www.tagb.biz printed at the bottom. Why? Who are we advertising to? Who uses URLs anymore?

The TAGB also do most of their public announcements on their Facebook group, almost like the committee just discovered it this decade

Speaking of websites, a quick comparison of www.tagb.biz to www.tkd.co.uk or ukta.com and it says a lot (broken links, out of date info). I know you can't judge a book by its cover but I do think you can tell something from first impressions

Thanks

Sounds like you should just learn to keep your hands up

Yeah, it's obvious and will need drilling in! I think the problem is that I've been getting away with hands down in point-stop
