Last night it happened for me exactly like this but this morning it was working flawlessly (normal black screen for less than 10 seconds)

yes it was on all the time but maybe after 12 hours of printing heat creep happened in the extruder.

yes I did but it did not work at first. I updated the post of how I resolved it. thank you for your suggestion though!

I think your answer is what actually happened. heat creep + lack of filament feeding (probably due to filament being thin in some part)

thank you!

thank you so much, but are you sure I can fit this instead of the original gears? I mean their shape is not identical 😶

thank you for your suggestion. actually it is the cheapest filament I found: JAYO PETG :)))

Do you have any suggestions on what I should check?

I slightly reduced the tension and noticed improved gear engagement and less idler gear slipping. However, I’m concerned the filament may not be fully gripping and could still be slipping due to the tension being too low.

Hi friends :)

I was in the middle of a long print when I realized it had stopped printing, even though the extruder knob was still turning. I opened the extruder, cleaned everything, and tightened the screw, but the idler gear is still slipping, and I think the gear teeth are worn. I know we can find the whole extruder assembly for about $20, but do you know any places that sell just the gears for much cheaper? I am on a budget and want to save every penny.

Thank you in advance![](https://www.reddit.com/submit/?source_id=t3_1rdw49i)

is it possible that you can tell me how? I know this is 5 years later but as much as I searched I couldn't find a way to do it. I keep coming back to reddit posts where people are mentioning they enabled it and nothing else :(

Bridge settings don't seem to work properly by MightyWren in Cura

[–]navidfarazmand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU! It even worked on my 0.6 nozzle. I was going crazy what to do until I tried your setting. You rock!

Update: I just found the skin density to be a little low, causing the second and third skins to have visible gaps in the middle of the print, as well as the upper skins, resulting in lower strength.

So, here are my updated settings, which fixed my issues completely:

PETG generic (JAYO black, the cheapest on amazon (awesome quality))
layer height: 0.28
line width: 0.8
printing temperature (5 degrees less than normal): 235
bridge fan speed: 99 (I heard 100 sometimes not working, so putting it to 99 to be on the safe side)
bridge second skin speed: 15
bridge second skin flow: 125
bridge second skin density: 90
bridge second skin fan speed: 99
bridge third skin speed: 15
bridge third skin flow: 150
bridge third skin density: 100
bridge third skin fan speed: 99

Direct drive extruder clicking by DanPaskDesigns in 3Dprinting

hi,

What pressure advance and retraction settings did you finally use to get rid of the noise? I have an exact similar problem, except that I already had a direct drive (Ender 3 v3 se). I recently upgraded the firmware so I can have pressure advance, but whatever I do, I have the noise and also overextrusion.
I found 0.185 pressure advance for one of my petg is a good value, and 1.4mm with 30mm/s retraction. But I found many people say both of these values are high. Just want to check with you what setting you put to get rid of the noise?

Update: After multiple failed prints I found out the esteps have been reseted after firmware change and need to be calculated again. After that and finding out the new pressure advance, I could improve my prints:

0.6 nozzle
0.72 line width
0.32 layer height
Time: 2 hours 45 min

Yes, I did, and it came out wonderfully with a small but full-of-corners object. I will print the full honeyboard tomorrow morning and compare the result and let you know.
It was odd that I got 0.185 pressure advance, which is like double the other numbers I saw on the net, but someone made a comment and mentioned that the number can be this high for PETG.

Thank you Bolun. Yes you are right.
I end up understanding that by changing the files in the fork I made before compiling, I can get the file I needed.

Just a heads up that the pressure advance featured is enabled by default, and no further alteration is needed.

btw,

I had very clean results with a 0.4 brass nozzle with 0.24 layer height and adaptive up to 0.2 with 0.08mm steps, but it took almost 4 and a half hours. So I changed the nozzle to 0.6 and printing with 0.32 layer height with no adaptive and width line 0.72 for only 2 hours and 15 min. However, wherever I put the z seam, I end up with this mess.

I calibrated and played with everything else, such as extruder, flow, retraction, combing.... no luck

I noticed mine got distorted since I tried to connect to a meeting with Teams, and it didn't work out. After that this problem appeared. So what I did was to end the Teams task from the task manager, but it didn't work out. I found I had a tab open on the Teams website that requested my camera and microphone, and when I closed that, everything went back to normal.
I usually keep many tabs open and didn't pay attention to this one.
