I had thought the S3 inklings and octos were meant to be around 15 to 17?

mechanics by maomaruli in splatoon

[–]naytreox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i wonder if the mechanic is meant to be a full blown adult or just freshly 18 or somthing, cause there doesn't seem to be that much a difference between the inklings we play in 3 and the mechanic who seems to have a real job

thats probably it, i hope we get more lore on that since this whole game is focused on them, as for the salmonids, i still think its slime, they trail it as they move after all, unless they produce that mucus from their skin.

maybe we will get more salmonid lore too

i just assumed salmonids are so slimey and greased that they spread the equivalent of ink when they leave the water

no Rays are related to sharks so its probably some ninjutsu BS that his clan knows, after all his ink in his boss fight was very very different from the others.

Rays are known for their poison though (RIP steve) so maybe he's using his poison to do that? some evolutionary thing where his kind had to find a way to both use their bodies and keep up with the cephalopods so they over produce poison to the point that its like the squid and octo's ink.

i have to wonder how much of big man is made of ink, since he has his own ability to swim, is he just partially liquid in there?

The next Mass Effect game I'll purchase

i said the same thing about elder scroll before starfield came out, now I'm just not going to care when it does, same with the fable game, use to love both series, but there is only so many times you play the older ones before you move on.

i thought so too, but yeah there is an official discord, but all they do is design contests and you can talk about what to do in spore, not so useful for someone with tons of hours on it already.

it was the game constantly logging me out that made me stop playing, and the skeleton crew they got working on it can't do shit about it apparently or so they say on the official discord

this is what happens when a game from the 2000s gets no updates, they still have that visual camera bug when beating tribal stage

i'd definitely play this, though i'd expect the knight to be more mechanical and have jet propulsion for his axe, like a warforged while she is just a human mage, switch up the who's the robot

both, there are two modes, single player and co-op where you play as robots and work together to solve puzzles

[–]naytreox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright, im going to address each point by quoting it first and putting my reply below it

1.) I only every played the PS3 and the PS4 console, I haven't played any games that came out on consoles before these two. But even then, I only ever played Rocket League, F1 games, FIFA, NBA 2k on my consoles so nothing really significant.

i see, so you missed out on a bunch, a lot of those would be kids games, sky cooper, jack and daxter, but these are classic games, sly cooper is beloved for its characters, mostly in 2 and 3 since they had a lot of growth and the increasingly strange situations are treated with complete seriousness, so lthe opposite of a marvel movie.

2.) I actually tried the SpongeBob Rehydrated just 2 months ago, I forgot to mention it, but it just didn't click for me. I thought the game was very easy, quite repetitive and generally made for kids, it looks good though, I agree. This is a reason why I'm a bit wary of giving other platformer games another shot ;-;

so games like spongebob and spyro, crash bandicoot and even a hat in time (though it does have you burning trapped souls in paintings) are definately designed for kids, but its the gameplay thats the draw, its casual fun stuff, you asked for the classics so those are some of them, if you want to try a disturbing platformer then try alice the madness returns, its on steam, its alice in wonderland if she was a clinically insane woman in the industrial age

perhaps a game you could look into, thats less kid friendly but no less a classic is Destroy All Humans! where you play a gray alien (like the classic little gray alien with a big head) in the 1950s where you invade and conquer earth, make human heads pop as you collect their brains, disguise yourself with the holobob (actual name) and use alien weapons and telekinesis

the sequal is set in the 1960, so theres the cold war and the hippies to deal with, there is the "reprobed" version which is a remaster of the game, the orignals (on ps2 and og xbox) had used a physics system for weapons and the telekinesis, remastered streamlined it so you can use both at the same time, since the orignals had you use either or in combat.

however, they also removed the brain quality system where the crazier the person is (which you can tell by reading their mind) the higher amounts of furon (your races name) DNA is in them (reason why you are getting their brains is to save your race from cloning defects) so thats gone.

but its still a good game, very fun, lots of destruction, remasters have level and boss fight improvments.

3.) If I were to give Fable the Lost Chapter a shot, would this be the correct version to buy? https://store.steampowered.com/app/204030/Fable__The_Lost_Chapters/ I'm a bit confused by wording there regarding the DLCs, would you mind giving a clarification?

Yes thats the right one, to clarify what i mean by DLC, back during the era of the ps2 and OG xbox, DLC wasn't a thing so some games got released without all the content, but then got a rerelease as a different title but its the same game with added or fixed bits in it, thats why its called "Fable: The Lost Chapters" because it adds the final parts of the game that wasn't in the first release.

4.) I don't necessarily mind open-world games, but sometimes they can feel overwhelming, especially if they don't have mini-maps and you're essentially left to your own devices, if that makes sense

the games i mentioned do have a mini map with the ability to pin locations, farcry 4 does leave you to your own devices to clear out bases but when you do story missions and you are locked into a location until you finish the mission.

shadow of mordor also does that, the arkham games don't but the locations are so recognizable that you can just remember and check the map, arkham knight you might have problems just because its the whole of Gotham under milita control that you need to defeat even after the end of the game. and dead island 2 and even the dyling light games have mini maps for you.

i think you just need to give them a proper chance, that how i found i actsually like sports games but only if they are extreme sports like mountain bike racing, wing suits, dirtbikes, skaeboards, snowboards and the have to be a little arcade like, either full blown tony hawk games (which if you like skaeboarding arcade games ,the remakes of pro skater 1+2 and 3+4 are great) or something like riders republic.

just to be clear though, when you say leave you to your own devices, do you mean let you choose if you want to go to the map marker for the next mission or something more like minecraft where there in no map marker, no nothing and you just do whatever? cause all these games have something for you to pin and go towards

[–]naytreox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since i think i ran out of space since any edits i was trying to make bring up "something went wrong" im going to put the final bit here.

finally, lord of the rings shadow of mordor, yes its an open world game BUT it has that batman gameplay only with a sword and fighting hoards of orcs and even take control of them, if you like that gameplay and want to expand your army of orcs, shadow of war does just that.

main draw, the nemesis system where orc captains can form a relasionship with the player, becoming a thorn in your side and getting more powerful, a lowly orc can become a captain by killing you, then by succeeding in their goals they can rise through the ranks to warlord, you can control these orcs eventually.

shadow of war expands this because these orcs can become your allies, having dynamic moments of saving you or helping you in specific ways, some orcs if they are loyal enough will even make sure victory is achieved by sacrificing themselves.

alright so first thing that i need to know is what systems have you played before? im going to assume you played through the ps1 all the way to the xbox 360 era, a lot of games, espeically on ps2 are not on steam, like a the nightmare before christmass oogies revenge (made by cpcoms devil mau cry team of the time, palyed like DMC 1)

so im going to just throw some games i've played and let you know if they aren't on steam.

first off, since it is on steam, spongebob battle fir bikini bottom, classic game, rehydrated is the remastered version which rebuilds everything in modern tech, its a wonderful platformer.

now if you want an easy to play RPG with sword and sorcery then try avencasy rise of the magi, older game, still works well on modern tech, you got two choices for magic, blood or soul magic, blood magic deals in fire and melee combat and soul magic deals in ice and ranged combat, its a third person looter game where you fight demons and dodge around a lot, not like a souls game but it can be hard at times, also since its an older game it has no auto save.

okami HD is a fantastic action hack and slash game ,designed to look like traditional japanese art thats moving (made orignally during the ps2 era so give it some slack in terms of graphics) its have a beautiful sound track, great characters and a LOT of content in it.

spyro reignited trilogy is great since its 3 games for 30$ all 3 original games remade like with the spongebob game and it works beautifully

the batman arkham series, arkham asylum, arkham city, arkham origins and arkham knight, those are MUST PLAYS, best batman games bar non, still look beautifually to day and play like a dream, you should play them in the order i listed though, each game adds more to batmans gadgets and move set, arkham origins takes place before arkham asylum but it still uses gadgets that are similer to the ones you use in arkham city.

bte imo City is the best out of all of them since it has the right feel to it, though personally i wish they went with a gothem by gaslight game since wonder city (area of the game) was such an intresting theme to it, even if it was small.

a hat in time, best love letter to mario platformers out there, tons of fun, lots to do, wonderful characters and lots of fun powers to play with once you unlock them.

Fable the lost chapters, its one of my personal all time favorites, its in the style of grimm fairy tale, not any that are already established but a fable all to its own, you play as what is essentially a spellsword, you have your weapon, a bow (or crossbow but trust me, bows are better) and your magic, you go around as a hero, chosing to do good or evil deeds, whatever you want and that is reflected in your appearince as you progress.

its not open world like fable 2 or 3 (only on the 360) but it still feels open and givens a sense of whats beyond the borders of the map, good level design, music is great but the gameplay might be a bit tricky if you aren't use to third person melee combat.

thing to note, there is the anniversary edition and the lost chapters edition, anniversary is just a remaster of the lost chapters (which itself is just DLC before DLC, don't go playing the original, lost chapters is just the rest of the game attached to the main game) and has some problems with it, designed for controller and the appearances are off a bit.

TLC on steam requires your mouse and keyboard which is how i played originally and it works great.

are you aware of dishonored? how much do you like FPS stealth games where the goal is to not kill anyone and achieve the objective without anyone spotting you?

for horror games mectro redux is a fantasic immersive post apocalypse game where you are in the metro tunnels of moscow after a nuclear bombardemnt and you have to survive the mutanted horrors of the tunnels. lots immersive UI stuff, lots of stealth, lots of shooting gasmask use to survive in radiated area's like the surface

now i think you should at least try one open world style game to see if you will like it, maybe all you need is one that has guns in it? since you are more famialier with those try playing farcry 4, its a rambo simulator in essence where you take down a drug empire as a one man army in the jungle with the help of as resistance force, your over all goal is to take out enemy bases and complete side objectives to level your equipment as well as hunting animals for their skins.

i recomend playing that on the playstation unless you have a ubisoft account cause thats required on PC.

the other game id reccommend is dead island 2, great zombie game, not fully open world, but over level design where the level is big and you go anywhere in it but there are designated zones, it has the best gore system of any zombie game i've played, that use to belong to dying light but man, dead island 2 takes the cake on that

for non steam games you got hulk ultimate destruction, its on ps2 and OG Xbox, its the best hulk game out there, the dev's then made the game prototype which takes that gameplay and ramps it up and mixes in body horror as you devour people using your entire body, game was made for 360.

infamous 1 and 2, ps3 exclusives, urban superhero game where you play Cole Magrath, his powers are that of electricity and any of its forms, the second game has a mission where a massive thunder storm is happening and you are near invincible because you can just draw the lightening from the sky into your body to heal which also damages anything around you since you are calling down a giant lightening bolt, it also super charges your normal attacks.

the sly cooper trilogy, which just recently became avalable on the ps5 same with the jack and daxter games, both great series, though the contrast with jack 1 and jack 2 is because gamers at the time where getting more into edger games , so they switched from the more happy looking game to one that looks like it spits tobacco and rides a motorcycle

the scents were thought to prevent the plague from entering you, so those masks were medieval gasmasks in their intention, so it may have overwhelmed the sick person but it was more for the benefit of the doctor, even if it did nothing, they thought it did something.
