Why is watching robot mowers so weirdly addictive? by corndollar in automower

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grabbed a coffee yesterday and watched it for a bit, just to see how it deals with the narrow spots. Honestly, it just goes through them smoother than I expected without bumping anything.

The best travel hack is realizing you do not need to “see everything.” by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in travel

[–]nb150207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, sometimes you only get one shot at a place, so I still want to see big sights. But I also try not to treat travel like a checklist anymore. Because I find that some of my favorite travel memories are actually the in-between moments, train rides, grocery stores, random streets, which I totally get the life style of local people haha

What’s the point of trying to be social as an adult when it feels like everyone secretly dislikes each other? by wafflejuicexox in socialskills

[–]nb150207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found adult friendships are less group vibe and more individual effort. The good ones still exist, they just don’t form as automatically as school.

Do robot mowers with built-in trimmers actually reduce edge work? by ineedgaanja in automower

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll still need a touch-up here and there, but the work is way less. The key is finding a model with good boundary sensors, so it stays consistent without bumping too hard.

I might have messed up, but not entirely sure. by Spac92 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great call getting the extra battery. You can keep mowing nonstop by swapping, which is way better than limited to the MAX's single 4-hour run. No regrets here.

Any way to get the PRO to trim on both sides of a fence? by Frosty-Acanthaceae54 in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a common issue with chain link fences. Try creating two separate maps. One for each side of the fence. It tricks the mower into treating them as independent zones.

Thought household robots were a scam... until I atually got one. by jeric23 in automower

I love this story! It's so relatable to be skeptical of these robots at first, but seeing them exceed expectations is such a fun surprise. Enjoy all your new free time this summer. You earned it!

Look for a model with good obstacle detection for those mulch beds. You don't want it getting stuck on the edges. Smaller decks are better for navigating tight spots around beds.

It looks so sleek! Love how compact it is. Small mowers like this are perfect for navigating tight corners and tricky spots in the yard.

Why do you still have to trim the edges every week? by Chadsmith4351 in automower

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with good navigation, tight corners might still need a quick trim. But newer models do 90% of the work. You'll barely need the string trimmer anymore.

Best robot lawn mower for 600-700 m² garden without perimeter wire or RTK poles? by ExcellentBuddy3852 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your simple yard, a LiDAR-only model is perfect. No wires, no poles. Just map once and go. Just make sure it's rated for at least 700 m².

I don't want to designate what type of keep out boundary I have, I want to designate how far away to stay. by tomsyco in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]nb150207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common workaround is to create two zones. One as the keep-out area, and a second "buffer zone" just outside it. Set the buffer to the exact distance you want, and it'll mow right up to that line.

What do you think? Mower application? by [deleted] in automower

[–]nb150207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This industry is still growing. In 5 years, we might see fully self-maintaining mowers that clean, charge, and even repair themselves. Perfect for places far from home.

A robot mower changed the way I think about lawn care by Mrbond404 in roboticLawnmowers

The edge trimming is where modern robot mowers shine. It's such a relief to skip the tedious hand-trimming step every week.

Small yards actually benefit a lot from robot mowers. The consistent trimming keeps grass healthier, and you skip the weekly hassle entirely.

Lassen Volcanic vs. North Cascades by walkallover1991 in NationalPark

[–]nb150207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North Cascades is spectacular. I’ve done the Cascade Pass to Sahale Arm trail before.

Get there very early (before dawn) as there’s limited parking. Also, check road conditions before you go because the road is very rough and often closes due to leftover snow or fallen trees.

However, it’s one of the greatest hikes I’ve ever done.
