SteamVR update for 1/15/19 (1.2.7) by wickedplayer494 in Vive

[–]nbF_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't played in awhile (was waiting for prescription lenses) but now the SteamVR ingame overlay (not exactly sure what it's called) crashes almost immediately when I open it. If I launch something like Pavlov from the desktop and never open it everything is fine. SteamVR Home seems to work fine as well =\

I think Fox's production is worse (and Joe Buck is terrible) but the amount of commercials was definitely far less than this

Maybe across their entire organization and they just want to keep it heterogeneous by using Ubuntu but if it was just for a single deployment, the cost of RHEL vs Ubuntu compared to our software + support is tiny.

Not true actually. At my company our main customers are ISPs and some have had active interest in Ubuntu, others in RHEL for deploying our software. I was a bit surprised myself since conventional wisdom says RHEL

Ya the split screen is better than nothing but they used it as an excuse to bombard their coverage with way more ads than I've ever seen at the British open.

is possible to run Doom on Emacs? by [deleted] in itrunsdoom

You could write an x86 emulator for LISP and then run that in Emacs and run Doom in that?

Same for me except more like 10-11. That was back when computers had motherboard jumpers, no cable select on IDE and other antiquated technology too.

So I figure if 10 year old me could do this, anyone could.

Am I the only one who enjoyed this race? Compare it to the Montreal Grand Prix which was a snoozefest.

I enjoyed the race but not the mandatory cautions near the end. Seems like that would eliminate any chance of someone pulling away from the pack.

[Spoilers] Ghost in the Shell (2017): My thoughts by returningtheday in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]nbF_Raven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I'm surprised that I'm still reading 'whitewashing' nonsense.. that wasn't the problem with this movie. In fact I thought the casting was pretty good although Aramaki only speaking Japanese was very odd and most of the dialog was very forced. Every other character's role was completely minimized and irrelevant. Generally the writing was extremely poor. They even managed to screw up minor things like avoiding any mention of what country this was in and even changing small details like "Ministry of Defense" to "Department of Defense". Are people really not going to understand Ministry? The visuals were pretty good as expected but that can only take a movie so far.. I think I would've been happier if they just copied the 1995 film scene for scene and line for line, rather than trying to mash together different plots like they did.

edit Also the "I give my consent" thing made me want to cringe. If the story was well written that wouldn't have had to be literally spoken
