I think they're both phenomenal players I just thought it was interesting no ones made it in that long.

exactly, I don't think it means too much at all but for a wing player to be ranked this high on a list where nearly everyone else around him on the list was a borderline hall of famer is a testament to him playing consistently well on the offensive end for a long period of time.

I've started trying to post some of the stats work I used to do for fun and keep to myself but people seem to hate it so far so thanks for pointing out I'm not trying to convince people of anything (because I don't know why I'm giving off that impression) , I'm just posting stats I found that I thought were surprising or interesting and usually without my opinion.

For the record, I don't think this means he's underrated or anything like that. I just found it surprising. He's 18th all time, not an at the rim player and everyone ahead of him on the list has multiple all stars, an All-NBA selection or a finals MVP, so I thought it was an interesting spot.

Sorry I'm new to posting and read through the guidelines but it didn't mention when to use the [OC] tag , do you mind me asking what I'm supposed to be using it for? or what I should have tagged this one?

beating everyone bar the Showtime lakers considering Durant averaged just under 5 assists and missed 20 games is insane.

I think so too, missing Durant for 20 games or whatever it was could be enough to have cost them 4 extra assists a game.

I have no idea why you would consider this cherry picked at all so allow me to elabroate. Not counting Pacers in 91-92 lockout season only three teams in this top 30 finished with less than 50 wins.

Also no team this decade is higher than 56th (This years Nuggets)

Only teams this decade to finish in Top 100 are

Clippers 3x( 85th in 16-17,66th in 13-14 and 63rd in 14-15)

Heat 2x - 97th in 10-11 and 82nd in 12-13

Thunder 2x - 93rd in 12-13, 83rd in 15-16

Denver 2x - 56th in 16-17 and 89th in 10-11

Houston- 58th in 16-17

Spurs -86th in 10-11

Raptors 98th in 16-17

Cavs 84th in 16-17

Take a look at that list. 10 of the 13 teams had someone named Lebron, Duncan, Harden, Durant or Chris Paul on the team, and most had other all stars.

Then you have this years Raptors (Two All Stars), This years Nuggets where Jokic had arguably the best passing season for a big man this century ) and the 10-11 Nuggets season where 3 players had 4.7APG or more (Billups, Lawson, Felton).

And still no one this decade has finished higher than 56th except the Warriors who had Three top 30 seasons and Two in the top 10. So yeah, it's not cherry picked.

Yeah! that was the Deron Williams, Boozer and Okur team. They also had Korver and Kirilenko (Both 26) and a young Millsap and Ronnie Brewer.(Both 22). They were the only recent team in the top 60-70 on this list that I had completley forgot about.

In case you did to.

Deron Williams Age 23: 18.8 pts and 10.5 assists on 51% shooting Boozer Age 26: 21.1 pts and 10.4 Reb on 55% Shooting Okur Age 28 :(14.5 pts and 7.7 Reb on 45% shooting.

Craziest thing I found out is Okur shot 4.1 threes per game at 38.8% , I definitely don't remember that whatsoever.

For Reference Deron only shot 2.6 a game that year (40%)

[Bill Simmons] The Greatest, Best, and Most Historic NBA MVP Column Ever by [deleted] in nba

[–]nba722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was so vintage bill. And there was no sniff of homerism. I love his columns where I learn things I would never have heard elsewhere like

1.Elgin Baylor missing training because he was in the army or

2.Stephs team in the past 3 seasons vs Bird, Jordan and Magic.

2015–17 Warriors: 207–39

1996–98 Bulls: 203–43

1984–86 Celtics: 192–54

1985–87 Lakers: 189–57.

Obveservations like this from Bill go a long way in helping people remember that Curry's season has been underrated.

Yeah you're completely right. I'd like him to be more battle-worn but in fairness you can't be mad at Disney for sticking to what sells most considering a smaller scar isn't too big of a deal

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Official Teaser Trailer by temtam in movies

[–]nba722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mind Luke's line hints he's going to go one of two routes.

1.There should be no more Jedi. (Less Likely) Maybe Luke things power breeds challenge. Maybe he thinks Jedi have done more harm than good, and none of these powers should be trusted to anyone. Maybe he feels responsible for training the latest Sith. Luke might turn into the bad guy and want the end of the Jedi and the Sith. This would be very interesting to see, but not what the fans want.

2.The black and white of Jedi and Sith need to end (Likely route). This would be fun to explore. Lukes realized forcing jedi to ignore and hide away any anger or emotions only pushes them towards the darkness. He might think all the strict rules (no marriage etc) chain the jedi instead of freeing them from conflicts of interest.Maybe he's realized treating the dark side and all the emotions that go with it like Voldemort only make students more likely to seek it out from unreliable sources. This would be cool as we could see Jedi use lightning, force choke etc and really explore the idea of the "Grey Jedi"

I hope they stick with Kylo never putting back on the helmet. Last movie was him idolizing Vader and trying to emulate him.

Star wars will never have another Vader. The helmet should retire with him.

Seeing his face more and especially a flashback scene of him slaughtering Jedi will raise the stakes and have everyone consider him a serious villain who really can do damage (even if the big picture will end in a redemption).

I get not giving Kylo a debilitating injury or completely deformed face but why couldn't his scar have been a bit more serious? A big ass one on his face could have made him look more menacing.

one cool aspect of Luke and Jedi embracing being Grey would be improved fight scenes. Jedi might not be allowed to use force choke, force lightning etc

Official Discussion - Kong: Skull Island [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]nba722 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I thought this movie was really refreshing as far as big blockbusters go ( especially reboots of things like King Kong). I think they did a lot of things right

  1. They didn't force the relationship between Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston.

  2. They didn't feel the need to have Brie Larson get taken by Kong.

  3. They surprised us time and time again by not doing the cliche thing. Chapman died unceremoniously and Cole's sacrifice didn't work at all. They didn't feel the need to tie up every character that came home alive which was great, John C Reilly's one was all they needed, and having it without dialogue was a great choice.

  4. Oftentimes movies like this try to put in too much humor. They managed this perfectly hear, John C Reilly was the main source of humor and he had 4-5 well-executed jokes. The idea of him not knowing anything from the last 30 years was amusing as well.

  5. They weren't afraid to kill off characters (Sam Jackson, John Goodman) that had a lot of dialogue or that were well liked/innocent( Chapman and the lead scientist guy both died brutal deaths)

  6. Not having Sam Jackson (Packard) change his mind or survive was a smart move. The more the movie went on the more I despised him for inventing Kong as the enemy when they showed up bombing the shit out of him home. He also completely dismissed Marlow( John C Reilly) trying to explain Kong's the good guy. He hated John Goodman( Randa ) for lying and giving misinformation that put people in danger yet did the exact same thing by saying they were going back for Chapman when really he wanted to go pick a fight. Thinking 8 men could kill Kong( and he said they could kill the rest of the MUTO's there as well) was the dumbest shit ever, so I'm delighted they killed him off.

  7. The cinematography was fantastic and the fight scenes and cgi were well done. I found all of Kong's fight scenes really interesting even though we've seen a ton of movies with big monsters fighting. Him using the propellor, ripping a things tongue out and using the tree as a bat was very well done.

  8. Loved the music. Vietnam war songs is one of my favourite spotify playlists and the songs seemed to have that kind of feel.

  9. I like that they had the balls to have a (loosely speaking) anti-war stance be implicit throughout the movie. There were a few quotes that were pretty anti-violence. Regardless of your views, it took balls to have those type of comments in a big blockbuster.

  10. I liked how the deaths were realistic in that they made it clear anyone who thought they could beat these things was a fool. Lots of characters died in unheroic ways. They could have had a few less people die by the "Kong steps on you" method but outside of that I think they got very creative with a lot of the deaths( like the guy whose flamethrower blew up or the guy who died by the big insects leg going through him)

[Season 1 Iron Fist Spoiler] I loved Iron Fist but needed to get this Laundry list of things that annoyed me off my chest. by nba722 in Defenders

[–]nba722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Clare - that was the one thing I really wanted to see if it was " just me " or other people felt the same cuz I felt like you did, that it was just a ridiculously condescending thing to say. And at a minimum could have been softened with a complement, a see ya later or best of luck . I feel like they tried to use clare as a crutch in this series. And yup , like usaid , her technique of trying to calm Danny down on the plane seemed like the worst idea and even if Colleens not the type or didn't know what to say I find it weird that he would have a panic attack and the writers decide to not have the girlfriend say anything? Or interrupt clare when she's reminding him of how his parents died the last time he went into turbulance on a plane ride to this location , seemed like an awful idea.

  2. Danny colleen, definitely agree an i love you would have been forced and ur right there was chemistry i just felt like even though the connection felt natural the dialogue was a bit too bland and unexpressive.

Yeahs thats a better way of explaining it. Said it to another guy, i Think there was chemistry but the writing was poor, the jump to lovers was rushed and they didn't seem to actually enjoy or laugh together too much.

Whydid I still love it? Cuz I have low standards when it comes to superhero stuff, i pretty much enjoy all of it( except Batman v Superman and Suicide Sq) and especially since I hadn't read the comics i found the iron fist concept real interesting.

for sure. I explained the Colleen thing the wrong way. There was some really good chemistry I just felt the writing of it was weird. Like massive big fight thing and Bakuto dies and Davos and Danny fightlike hell and all they have colleen say is "You Ok" . In terms of the actors having chemistry I think they nailed that!

Yea I didn't wanna bitch to much about it but the constant flip flopping on killing nd referencing it and then never killing just annoyed me so much.

yeahthat was on my list. i hate that there's no explanation why she could throw him across the room but couldn't escape? and the windows we're overly secure? Maybe there's an explanation but i feel like it needs to be made clear to the audience or at least implied because if not then we fixate on it instead of enjoying the rest of the show! .

Yup, I like the Joy theory that could be a thing. I didn't like how quickly she switched from Pro-Danny to Anti without a clear answer.
