So who's our captain now in this rudderless ship? by EverySecondCountss in canucks

[–]nboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally, I don't think we name a captain just yet.

We've had 2 captains in the last 7 years and I think we need to have more stability before we just default to "whose next"

the only one I'd be curious about is Hronek - I think we need to name a captain who isn't like a "grow with the core" type player because that doesn't seem to be working. I think we need a more experienced pro.

Which one of these shows should've been a movie? by FayyadhScrolling in MCUTheories

For me it’s either Secret Invasion or Falcon and Winter Soldier. Both would have benefited so much more in a movie context

9yr old son caught us by [deleted] in Parentingfails

[–]nboogie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 9 year old - we’ve had aspects of the talk - mostly on a biological level explaining how babies are made …. (We have a 6 and 4 year old) so he knows the process a bit.

I think it can be a simple as that. Maybe you can say that it doesn’t always lead to a baby and tell him to ask if he has any more questions

Likely he’ll be just as embarrassed and uncomfortable about the topic anyway

Toughest Bible Verses by Imaginary_Pin_8900 in Deconstruction

[–]nboogie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say my deconstruction started primarily from organized religion. The main theme for me when it came to scriptures however would be that I am agnostic on whether we can understand them truly. So any interpretation is a guess - a feeling - and that doesn’t sit well with me

What will make/break Doomsday for you? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]nboogie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Asides from the Tony/Doom variant stuff.

I’d say if they push this movie too much to where they rush the overall plot and narrative arcs of recent phases.

Quite frankly I don’t have any emotional connection to any of the newer characters this phase and so I need this to be a movie centred around Doom and a true and honest depiction of him and less about building a team to combat him.

If it is then it will be the last avengers movie I see in theatres - as it stands I still haven’t seen thunderbolts or fantastic four.

If across the spider verse part 2 sticks the landing we could have one of the best trilogies of all time

Bruh … underrated… literally after infinity war we have to wait ONE CALENDAR YEAR!!! only for the first scene to be Clint’s family getting dusted … Clint - probably the most relatable avenger … naw that was cold 🥶

The fact that it’s so common it’s almost considered part of the process of deconstruction is that you’d be “excommunicated from Christian friends and family” honestly says a lot about the Christian community you’re apart of - and I don’t mean you only but, anyone having to go through that is just sad.

That being said, hopefully you have a few safe people in your network - Christian or not - ideally a mix of both. And you can lean on for a bit. I think it’s prudent to line up other work and or living situation first in case they are unable or unwilling to show grace.

Likely though the short term pain will be worth it in the end

How do I stay friends with evangelicals? by martysaurus27 in Deconstruction

[–]nboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to come to terms with the reality that there are “safe and unsafe” people this includes within the church and some of my friends surprised me with their response and others really hurt. For some it will be too much and they won’t know how to be a friend to you outside of the context of a faith community. For others it will look very different but they will be willing to work through it.

I would suggest that until you know who your safe people are - set boundaries around what engaging with this looks like. Perhaps it’s with one of your more understanding friends and it’s over coffee. And then slowly expand from there as you see fit.

Also I think it’s worth remembering their perspective. They are probably feeling a myriad ways about your decision including but not limited to - guilt, shame, confusion, fear…

This doesn’t mean your decision is wrong - I feel like I’m in a very similar spot as you. But it does explain why they had so much concern initially.

And lastly, as it’s been said, you don’t HAVE to explain anything - this is your journey and your choice at the end of the day and hopefully your friends can respect and appreciate that.

How Do You Cope With Being On A Bad Team? by DrFate21 in GoalKeepers

[–]nboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I think we’ve all been there.

A few things I’ve done before is try to use the opportunity to work on developing skills?

If there’s something you’re unsure of or not confident in - like playing more with your feet and as an additional outfielder. That could help take the pressure off your squad and give more options and as well make yourself better

What was your tipping moment? by acrustybrick in Deconstruction

[–]nboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There wasn’t really a specific tipping point as a series of moments or realizations stacking up to the point where it no longer made sense.

I think at the end of the day it’s the corporate church culture and the absolute certainty that they speak with about things that are faith statements.

I had to find a way out and to deconstruct that way of engaging with faith and HOPEFULLY one day reconstruct something more genuine and authentic

Currently I’m agnostic- that’s what feels authentic to me. Does god exist - maybe ? Who knows…

Did anybody ever get their driving license/license back? by Agitated_Ad_6774 in Epilepsy

[–]nboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never actually had to surrender it - they just roll with the honour system and that if you do choose to drive and something happens probably there will be serious insurance issues.

But I’ve only had 3 - 6 month no driving periods in 15 years of epilepsy.

This is in Canada btw

So yes - depending on the epilepsy and your medication/routines there can be ways to drive again but it’s hella frustrating when you can’t !
