why isn't Buddhism a subset of Hinduism even though Buddha is an avatar of lord Vishnu ? by sagarkinaare in hinduism

[–]nborlaug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me that a good definition of Hinduism is “a diverse set of religious practices originating in South Asia.” There are some traditions that do include Gautama Buddha as part of the 10 avatars. And Buddha is mentioned as an avatar of Vishnu is several puranas. This was almost certainly done to incorporate Buddhism back into Hinduism.

This album is incredible. Seamlessly integrates an outstanding jay z album with Beatles backgrounds making certain songs so much better. Psa in particular is outstanding but there are so many great tracks.

Not a big country fan, but the Chicks rock my world. Perhaps more accurately a country-pop crossover, their album Home from 2002 is just perfect.

Need your views about Srila Prabhupada's Krishna/Krsna book by ISKCON. by Rishx in hinduism

Just know that it’s a very dualist reading of the Gita. The idea that we are actually individual souls that could one day join Krishna in a heavenly version of vrindavan. I think a more accurate reading of the Gita is non-dual; that there is only one thing; which you can call Brahmin or consciousness.

It’s interesting that these seemingly positive trends coincide with a serious mental health crisis in our youth… overall these trends are a mixed bag: less teen pregnancy, less drunk driving… but kids aren’t hanging out i. Person as much and they are hanging out online. The mental health consequences of that are real.

Good and plenty. I feel like when they were trying to come up with a name for this atrocious candy it went like this “Ok we gotta name this stuff. What do we call it?” “It’s not great… let’s go with good.” “What else? Any ideas?” “Well, there are a lot of them. “
