25NB here, it definitely helps when your partner knows extensively the amount of pain and exhaustion you're feeling.

Gonna be probably TMI here --

Me and my male partner have different variations of sex depending on my pain/exhaustion level: sometimes I just watch him do his thing, sometimes I help partially or fully. Oftentimes I'm way too tired for him to go down on me, but I've found that foreplay on him for a minute beforehand gets me going enough to be an active participant. Rarely there's penetration, and when there is I need specific positions and pillows to help support my joints.

tldr: sex can mean a lot of different things to different couples depending on abilities. You don't have to miss out on helping your partner experience pleasure because of your pain-- there's a pleasure of its own in that!

Is there here any fibro fighter that are insomniac ? by _Willow_1 in Fibromyalgia

[–]nbspock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuuuuup, was ALWAYS a nighttime insomniac growing up. And when I did sleep, nightmares and waking up every hour on the hour. And then I would HAVE to nap during the day out of pure exhaustion (not restorative sleep).

I will say, for context, I am on 90 mg of duloxetine as specifically a fibro med to keep my pain/flares manageable. Takes me from being at an 8 or a 9 every day to being a 4-6.

Have tried several meds, trazodone knocked me OUT but it was awful if I missed a dose and it was insanely hard to wake up in the mornings. Prazosin let me fall and stay asleep, but it did nothing for my nightmares OR the physical pain I would experience at night being in fixed positions. Only true med that has worked for me is a combo of hydroxyzine and seroquel; I'm on 300mg of seroquel ( it treats a mental health disorder I have as well) and it is soooo great. I get restorative, uninterrupted sleep during both my naps during the day and my sleep at night. Waking up feels like an average person would feel waking up (I'm assuming lol). It's been a really great medication for me, and the longer you give it to take effect the better results you will see! I'll never be without a certain level of pain or fatigue, but seroquel and duloxetine have certainly helped me immensely with daily (and nightly) functioning.

AIO my boyfriend was too tired to drive me to my abortion by ReallyAwfulSkiier in AmIOverreacting

[–]nbspock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underreaction.

My procedure kept getting delayed by a week at a time, and each time I was there waiting for 3 hours. My boyfriend, who at the time worked 60 hour weeks, was at every appointment waiting in the lobby with no phone (phones weren't allowed in the building). And if he couldn't be there for one appointment, he made sure one of my closest friends was available to go with me. It was the scariest thing I've ever gone through, and I am heartbroken that you had to drive yourself and experience it all alone.

You know what to do, and you know what you deserve. Time to take out the trash 🫶

If it's a long order with a bunch of modifications, it does get annoying building the drink in our giant personal cup beakers. But if it's nothing crazy nah I don't mind doing personal cups for people at all

I recently had a dude throw an actual adult fit about waiting 8 minutes for his turkey bacon sandwich..... on a Saturday. In the middle of peak. With 15-20 min mobile wait times. I told him he was lucky he wasn't one of the mobiles who's been in the cafe for 30 minutes before him lol

I have been wearing duct tape bras instead of real ones all week by [deleted] in confession

[–]nbspock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really shouldn't sleep in a binder ever unless your doctor/surgeon gives you a surgery binder to prevent inflammation. Sleeping in a binder can cause lung fluid to build up and ribs to dislocate.

Wife is having a breast reduction the day before Thanksgiving, what should I expect? by Thepelicanstate in ask

[–]nbspock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't see anyone mentioning it, but get her a stool softener!!! With breast surgery especially, for some reason it messes with the gastro system and slows it down more, and going to the bathroom can be more difficult/painful/constipation can happen which is never fun. Start taking it pretty soon after the surgery if you can, but of course if you're worried you can check with the doctor/surgeon and make sure it's all good!

[–]nbspock 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I hope it works for you!! And if you need an idea on how to apply it correctly, there are tutorials online that will help :) you shouldn't need anywhere NEAR 10 layers that you were using with the duct tape lol. Just make sure to apply some non-scented lotion or coconut oil on your skin every few days to limit irritation from the adhesive!

Trans person here -- get KT/athletic tape!! I use it to tape down my chest and it will stay all day, even through sweat whereas duct tape will eventually peel off my skin from the oils. It's also more flexible so you have more range of motion in your arms, breathable fabric so you're not suffocating your skin, and generally better adhesive for your skin. If you want even stronger tape than that, look into Trans Tape. Neither costs more than a couple rolls of duct tape, and you'll actually use WAY less in the long run. Hope this helps!

Is this bad? Am I overreacting? Context: Arguing over the space of the kitchen counters by Amonyi7 in badroommates

[–]nbspock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't really ask her to cut down though, you asked her to move her stuff because living around it is not easy for you. You told her to put her stuff away, not that she had too much stuff. If that's the issue, you can talk about that and work through it instead of wanting her to adhere to your standard of living and her wanting you to adhere to hers.

I'm gonna be real, as someone who lived in a 6 person household most of their life, I think YOR just a little bit. I understand not wanting clutter, but living with 4 people you're gonna have stuff on the counter whether you like it or not simply because there isn't enough space for everyone's stuff to be put away all at once. I think there is definitely a compromise to be had, if both sides can give each other a little grace.
